Simpler time. Although times were very often complicated, just compared to today. Of course for many including me, it might also be because we were little kids and now we’re adults. I can tell you Life was less accelerated and the world didn’t seem as small as now.
12:22 - I'm wondering if the animated announcer for Laura Scudder's Potato Chips is Harry Shearer. The voice has a touch of Kent Brockman though it also sounds like other TV announcers used within the Simpsons.
0:46 *looks up definition of saucy* Um, well Ms. Dipesto may have been appealing to some people, but it was Cybill Shepherd that was particularly alluring in Moonlighting. 4:47 Hillerman did a great job with that commercial. But is that also Lyman Ward, who played Ferris Bueller’s father? 6:06 Yeah, I remember her mouthing off like that.
Since this was a tape I personally transferred, I typically just fast forward through the movies/shows and record just the blocks of commercials. It makes the editing process much easier.
"News Briefs" today: "Today a shocking development that will leave you stunned that you can't miss with a popular person. What, who, and actual details, after this break...and three more breaks afterward."
They did that kind of tease back then too, with “Tonight at eleven” on local news. The KTVU 10 O’Clock News was always a mile above the standard local news fare. Great anchors, in-depth reporting and it ran for a whole hour. I used to watch it a lot as a kid before bed.
(looks at thumbnail) Come for the A&W Root Beer, stay for the nigh-master quality 80's commercial goodness. :D *EDIT:* 11 and 12: Was that Fred "Herman Munster" Gwynne at the V/O booth? ;)
John F. Donnelly I’m going to venture and say it sounds like Edward Herrmann (“Gilmore Girls”). I do know that he did do some car commercials in person, but only sometime later for Dodge.
Every time I saw that Mauna Loa ad I would always imitate John Hillerman's "martial arts". It was a fun time to be silly in the 80s
The Stuntman of the Year Awards...Not only the "In Memoriam" segment, but I bet they have one heck of a blooper reel.
Love watching these, and going back in time. Keep it up, and well work my way thru all of them..
I wasn't even thought about being born omg...the 80's & 90's seemed fun

Stuart Pankin (Dinosaurs, Honey We Shrunk Ourselves) in the Decade ad.
Dennis Richmond looking dapper at 3:07. Bay Area icon right there.
KTVU News promo-@3:06 seems like he was anxious to get started..
Jack In The Box Pizza Pocket-before Pizza Hut's P-Zone
I totally believe that people went to night clubs in the 80's...to drink root beer.
18. That has never happened to me when I open one!
33. Picture a apple juice or milk beverage starting out like this!

Wow the news break was about actual news.
I love the music in the Jetta commercial
I miss colored toilet paper
Probably bad for the environment. Defines a person for sure

A brand new Hyundai for only $5,000??? Yeah, times have changed 😬
Or...inflation over 30 years has changed what $5000 is worth?
@@80sCommercialVault that's even scarier to think about!
9:34 so you think you are sponge-worthy?
I used the sponge. That's why I have three children instead of two. LOL
P.S-- Merkur didn't last long. But I remember my mom having to go to dealership to look at one. She bought the T-bird from Hertz commercial
It must be a lot hard work cutting out the television shows and editing all these commercials together.

I Love Payless💘

Fred Gwynne was indeed the voice of Hyundai back then. It’s not Edward Herrmann.

You let the same guy set 25 different fires!?
