I tuned into a really good station this morning (Sunday, 7.00am UK) Radio Delta International on 6170khz from Elburg in The Netherlands. I sent them a reception report & they read it out on-air! They also have a decent website too for more info on them.
Hi Lew, there are some really great SW and MW stations in the Netherlands, I wish I were able to hear those. But they use low-power transmitters, making it very hard for me to hear them. You are lucky that you could hear Radio Delta! A year ago when I was in the Netherlands I heard some of their SW stations and it was great fun.
Yes Andre I was surprised when I caught the station, it drifted away as the morning went on. I tried Delta's 12085khz afternoon frequency later & it was there again. I was using the little xhdata d-219 which makes this quite impressive. Thanks, all the best.
Yes, an excellent radio which outperforms it's budget price. Storm Bert has hit the UK this weekend, perhaps the strong winds have helped with the Delta radio signal 😃
This is a very nice, interesting receiver. An awful lot in a very small package! Even without the SSB this is impressive including the sound quality. I actually have one of these little guys and it’s a great little radio! It’s sensitive enough to pick up some stations inside the house, which is better than average.
I agree, this is a really impressive little radio. Many people complained about the lack of SSB, but I think it still offers a lot, as you say. The sensitivity on SW, FM and MW is just incredible.
Hi André, hope you have a nice day 😀 here it's cold and snowy ☃️ Ifrikya FM is definitely on on 17600 kHz at the moment, but strangely, in Arabic, weaker than usual, and with some strange hum. Not sure about // 15160 as KBS World Radio is blasting in there as NOT usual, with a traditional chants & talk performance 😅 5915 used to be a frequency for Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation Radio 1, but it must've fallen into disfavour & left us altogether quietly 😢 BTW André, does your DX-286 default to 4kHz bandwidth every time you retune your radio?! I've noticed that mine does, and it's strange 😵
Hi Arnie, thanks for your comment, especially about Ifrikya on 17600 kHz. It is good news to hear that they are still there! I find it quite strange that I haven't been able to hear them for some weeks now. About 5915, I still remember hearing Zambia there a year or so ago. But no more. To be honest, at first I thought this signal that I heard was Zambia, but when I listened very carefully I realised that it was CRI. My DX-286 defaults to 4 kHz every time I switch it on, but not when I re-tune. That is, if you mean when I tune to another frequency? Here it is deep summer already! Hot, with thunderstorms most days now.
Those are great catches in Denmark. I think the Madagascar signals can travel quite far, they are usually very strong here in South Africa. Sometimes almost like FM.
The same thing i've been receiving TWR Africa on 11660 KHz. Manzini transmitter site from Eswatini is incredibly strong, that you can listen to it indoors without using external antennas. 😮
In London (in a noisy apartment full of metal with an internal antenna) I get CRI in many languages including Esperanto, Radio Turkey in Turkish, Radio Romania in Romanian and Channel 252, received weakly and playing Radio Northsea International.
@@CarolineFord1 Mine's just got indoors CRI in Croatian (9410 KHz), CRI in Bulgarian (9695 KHz, not really much strong), some of CNR transmitters (i've could hear CNR1, CNR2 & CNR13 on 9890 KHz, while Voice of Korea was booming), and a lot of Voice of Turkey transmissions in Turkish, from morning till midnight. Also on daytime i've could receive CRI's Hungarian-language Service on 15220 KHz.
Hi Mustafa, I have heard Radio Cairo in the past, but it is a difficult one for me to catch. Most of their signals are directed towards the north from Egypt, not the south. Algeria (Ifrikya FM) used to be a very easy and very clear catch here, but I haven't heard them for some weeks now. I do hear the Ethiopian signals also at times, like Radio Oromia and Radio Amhara. The signals from Madagascar are always very clear here. I have also heard Radio Congo in the past, but not recently.
Great DX session as always!
Thanks Alex!

Hello.
Thnx for you..

Yesterday, I received here in Denmark: JRC Radio Dabanga (11640 Madagascar) and Trans World Radio (11660 Eswatini).
Those are great catches in Denmark. I think the Madagascar signals can travel quite far, they are usually very strong here in South Africa. Sometimes almost like FM.
@ yes, signal was pretty clear, I was surprised.

@swlistening Thank you André for your information. It's always nice to hear from your part of the world.

I've once heard Radio Cairo in Albanian on 9410 KHz from Abis transmitter site on July. The reception was really strong.
