Prince was crazy about Susanna. He never gave (Bangles) the song. He gave it to Susanna. But, she didn't feel the same way. So, Prince lost interest & dumped her. Susanna later tried to downplay the relationship by saying he was interested in The Bangles which isn't true. Prince was ONLY interested in her.
You can't dump what you never had. But at least he took a shot, not like the rest of us mere mortals that just admired her from afar. And to Prince's credit he never held a grudge and always supported the Bangles. It takes a guy with class to be shot down by a woman and still remain her loyal friend. To this day Susanna and the Bangles have been vocally grateful to Prince. That's class, from all of them.
@@rgtowns If they had 5 songs it wasn't their career then. Susanna wrote Eternal Flame which to this day is still epic. And for me more memorable than Manic Monday. Manic Monday feels like a prince track.
They were going to be dumped from Columbia if they didn't have a hit record, and they were very lucky that Prince loved them and gave them a great song.
I don't want to seem superficial, but this 48 year old Susanna is even more stunning and beautiful than her 28 year old counterpart in 1987. And not only her singing voice, but her speaking voice is so sweet and pleasant to listen to. Besides being very intelligent and engaging. And Vicki and Debbi are awsome. Love them all. Miss you Michael.
Now I can sleep tonight. I finally understand, from Susanna herself, why she avoids that famous line, "Come on honey, let's go make some noise". It's because it doesn't sound like something they or any woman would say. The ladies tend to be more insinuative, leaving something to the imagination. Like in the song "In Your Room" where there are various lines that are insinuative and ambiguous, and therefore, more sexy. This line is more in your face, too obvious. In a concert where Prince came on stage and played "Manic Monday" with the Bangles, he belted out that line with his big voice. It sounded perfect, like a typical Prince lyric. But when Susanna sings it, it sounds a bit awkward or out of place. Now I understand. Now I will be able to sleep tonight.
For sure. Granted, "HE tells me in HIS bedroom voice," but it would've sounded more natural if she sang that lyric differently, like how Prince would and did sing it.
And once again, an interview w/ The Bangles, where Debbi winds up sitting there like a fixture. Look, Vicki is "My Girl", but it really pisses me off the way Debbi left out of the conversation a lot of the time.
Okay. ALWAYS loved The Bangles. Just a GREAT group, no qualifications to that statement, just a GREAT group. And, yes, I never ever actually listened to an interview with them (okay, not all four in this interview, admittedly). But, WOW. I'm in love, AGAIN, with one of the best groups to come out of the '80s. These ladies are just phenomenal. And, they did just phenomenal without Prince, whom I find HIGHLY overrated, except as a guitarist. Just beautiful interview. Thank you. DollE.
Wow, possibly the greatest musician that has ever lived. Guinness book of records for musical instruments played . Wrote many many hits for others, and so much more.
They're all good looking including Michael. Vicki is my crush though but they're all good looking. Plus, as for Debbie, how many nice looking tall blondes can play drums?
Ray Campbell there was an interview "late night" where the band was asked who slept with prince.she blushed and pointed at 2 others, but all the other 3 members pointed only at her. So you can infer

He had plenty of women to pick and choose from, so no loss for him...
Yes that scenario makes sense. He saw Susanna and instantly was attracted (like any normal man was/is).
She loved him too just not in that way… you can tell she appreciated his art by the way she spoke of him.
What you say here is simply ridiculous. Not only does it make no sense whatsoever, how could you possibly know?
yes ! sorry for my long answer you heave cool chanel
My first crush: Suuuuuuuue ❤️
Where's the footage of that concert Prince played with them?

Ha ha... gotta insert yourself if you want to be heard over a couple chatty chics.
If Debbi was still a smoker, she could've represented the 'Brenda' character of A6.
And once again, an interview w/ The Bangles, where Debbi winds up sitting there like a fixture.

Sadly, pretty Micki Steele left the group back in Feb 2004,God bless her.
