This dev must be absolutely electrified right now. 7 years of dedication and now his game is wishlisted 2 million times and he gets a thumbs up from Mack!
I would get a massive panic attack lmao.. But this will for sure be life changing for him.
I added it to my wishlist after this video, so 2,000,001 at the very least!
About to be a rich solo dev soon.

When a developer isn’t afraid to give Mac a key, you know it’s a banger!
Haha, exactly.
haha, love this comment
It's the game Mac has been asking for.
i think more should give keys to Mac, and take his advice and criticism with grace.
huh but crapcom give's mac key's all the time
battle casualties being your actual workers will take this game to the next level of immersion.
Something that should have been an inherent part of most of the similar games for the past 10 years. I always thought it would not be technically easy to do, but if this guy made it alone, there is no argument why the likes of EA/Ubisoft did not manage to pull this of for years.
@@rexi1414 actually isn't easy. City builders have always followed the formula of simplicity.... you assign land, and things automatically happen. EA tried to make Simcity 2013 complex. It blew up in their face.
Cities Skyline 1 ditched the complexity, and became widely popular. Cities Skyline 2 tried to retry the complexity of Simcity 2013, and blew up.
The first city builder that embraced the complexity and made it work was Banished. Banished made way for every other small-scale medieval city builder that currently exists.
And the next level of strategy.
@@adorp I'm just guessing here, but city builders seem to get "the sims" treatment. As in not near the amount of effort goes into them as they don't sell nearly as well as other genres. I mean how hard can it really be to make it so instead of people coming out of a barracks to fight, it's just people coming out of their shops/homes... I just learned about this game the other day and it looks AMAZING. However I'm really curious if your individual villagers have some kind of stats, get experience, have a personality, etc. Without any of that, I really don't care that much about the actual villagers fighting. More battles they survive, they should get better at fighting individually, less likely to route, etc.
@@whatNtarnation90 The developers know all that. Farthest frontier, for example, has added veterancy, where soldiers gain rank and become more effective when they win battles.
But that game requires 32GB RAM to run a tiny village of 600 citizen. Perfection is the enemy of good enough. If you keep adding features, at one point, you will need an actual multiplayer team to run a single village. It sounds cool, but will it sell?
That one guy is now a multimillionaire. Bravo!
Well he's not yet as it's not released.
Put effort in to make something that isn't shit.... Imagine if other people started doing that again!
Fantastic it is, hail all the deities or just one and sing of the devs name in their honor!
Gaben still has to forward those checks
He will be once actually gets the revenue in next week, but at this moment in time there has not been any earnings actually made!

@@deadwaste1 Still impressive what a bunch of guys managed to do what companies with thousands of employees couldn't do.
@@deadwaste1 "Hand crafted by a solo developer" pulled from the manor lords website

No one needs AAA games. Especially when it’s mostly just a big waste of time and money for everyone, except those who profit.
It is truly unreal what passion does for development. Whether it's one guy or one thousand, it is what makes a great game and without it (like in any vocation) the work suffers.
Ars Technica has a series called 'War Stories', some behind the scenes stories about the development of different games - and it REALLY makes this point abundantly clear. They don't have anyone on there talking about how they clocked in from 9 to 5 and, ya know, just got the game done and that was that; they have devs on there that made real meaningful sacrifices just to get their vision out for the rest of us to see, exactly how they want us to see it. Because they actually really cared, they had some actual passion.
(the Lorne Lanning extended interview is a must listen - that is just a really incredible human being)
So Settlers, Total War, Cities, Bannerlord and Dwarf Fortress elements mashed together by ONE GUY?! - it's not even words you say Mac, it's the tone of your voice that sells it for me.
Dwarf fortress not so much. Bannerlord? Eh. But I agee with the other ones. But yeah I’m excited. A lot of content will be added in the future.
I think the only thing Bannerlord has in common with this is the 'lord' in the name.
@@ThaGamingMisfit I see you never played a Bannerlord battle. You should try it.
@@ThaGamingMisfit The unit formations looked very similar to basic bannerlord or more so warband but yeah.
The developer has made a public announcement recently to clarify that it is not a Total War competitor or grand strategy game for that matter
You know it's a good game when you see the buildings actually getting built piece by piece
The immersion in this game seems unmatched ! So many devs underestimate this, but this one actually nailed it !
@@ThaGamingMisfit
There are two german Historians, one of them also having a youtube channel and those are advisors on the Discord and try to help too to make the buildings and timeline look as authentic as possible by providing historical evidence/information, its awesome how far this has come and how many help
Manor Lords has a lot of inspiration like this from Ostriv. BTW also a 1-dev-game from some Ukrainian dude. I see a pattern here.

"EARLy access"? Now that's a nice pun
City builders prior to this felt like experiments as they never had any late game. The had an early and a middle game and that was it. This game feels like Total War/City Building because you build a town (early game) turn it into a thriving town/city that can defend itself through diplomacy or military might against other factions (mid game) then conquer and expand your cities and regions through military might (late game). I can't believe no other city builders tried this, it was like they were in experimental mode the whole time. Hopefully developers take note of this and build upon this principle. It can even be brought over to other franchises. Imagine a Fallout settlement builder/RTS like this with other factions on a huge map of the wasteland competing over it, engaging in expeditions etc. The options are limitless
Yup. That's why I am buying this title. I believe that the creator gathered already great team so he might expand his business in this area. And so true - many may follow. Imagine Warhammer total war in this genre. Imagine building small settlements with your demons, expanding it, looting and pillaging 😂
The guild 2 is a bit like that, not a city buolder tho
So great to see such genuine enthusiasm. Thanks for this.
