Being a K5 Compact owner I can only vouch for the K5, which suits me down to the ground, I do not store my cable on the machine I loop it 3 times then hang on the wall in my garage, I would highly recommend Karcher as a quality product, have the WD vac, Steamer and the window vac

The first upgrade I did to my Karcher K5 was to get the Karcher branded "Flexi" hose and it is fantastic although expensive. I hated the hose that came with it. It's just far too rigid and it's not at all good for car detailing. Their Flexi-hose is what should come with any Karcher from the get go which would make them drastically better right out of the box. Those AVA machines you have reviewed look absolutely amazing. I hope they come to the USA someday. I think they would do very well in sales over here in the US of A.

Now Dave, this is why you've gained 8.4K since last August. I remember, we was counting to reach the 20K milestone. And look at you, gonna be hitting the next one soon.
I've got several Katcher products, some of them were presents so they have a special place in my heart but have to admit, there are better products on the market now. Just like detailing products.
I remember, ages ago you had a choice of either Karcher or some no name chinese crap (At least in Easter and central European countries) if you didn't want to end up paying ridiculous money for these appliances. They were quite affordable and pretty much the only sensible decision.
But time flew by and others entered the game with their well thought out stuff at a cheaper price.
Especially AVA, we will soon see how reliable they are because everything else seems to be bang on with them.
    Thanks mate👍👍🚗💦

At least the Ava machines have a minimum 5yr warranty that you can upgrade to 10 yrs if you service it after the 5yr warranty ends(apparently they sell the servicing kit for around £40 which they DON'T make a profit on!). Ava being Norwegian are very environmentally friendly and believe in the European 'Right to repair' movement too - they would much rather you buy the parts and repair their machines than sell you a new one. Very refreshing!

I have a Nilfisk which I bought to replace a Karcher which didn't last at all. I think most people automatically think of Karcher when they want a pressure washer, I know I did and was disappointed with what I had. I can honestly say that the Nilfisk is a cracking little machine and I know when it eventually needs replacing I will get another one.
Keep up the good work Dave, I do look forward to your vlogs. Thanks for putting the time and effort in to producing them.

@@epicautomotivedetailing exactly, it would save people making the wrong choice. I think Karcher need to up their game now. They seem to be relying on their name whilst the likes of Ava and Nilfisk are moving the game on now. As you say little things like on board storage and flimsy hoses . They really need to look at where they are going to go.

If you are professional car detailer working 5 days week etc. Then yes, Nilfisk or Ava, may be Karcher at a push, if it's the pro model. Karcher domestic stuff should be avoided. But for weekend detailers, like me, nothing beats the Big Boi WashR. The price, the options, the specs. Had it since Dec 2021, love it. Quieter, more power, more options with quick releases, lovely long 15m hose. My previous Karcher was a battle, the Big Boi nothing but a joy to use.The Nilfisks are ugly as hell, but who cares as long as it does the job. There are two markets, pros like yourself and weekend detailers. We both need different products, different techniques, different processes. Keep up the great work, appreciate all the work you do, to help pros and weekend detailers.

Very pleased with my Nilfisk. It has outlived 2 of my brother’s plastic motored Karchers and really had some serious punishment around the cars and garden. The only let down I find on pretty much all of the domestic pressure washers is the kinked stiff hoses slamming into the car 3 metres away if you are not really careful. It’s a different tool when you change that, but don’t go nuts on the length of hose as the pressure will reduce on the lower end machines.

I have a compact Karcher model although the K7 version. I got it for the excellent flow rate and the nice 10m hose. Didn’t want accessories as generally the ones that come with them aren’t great. I got an MTM stubby and PF22 snow foam lance which matched with the excellent K7 pump, gives superb performance in a small package. It is heavy but I’d worry about the pump quality if it was light. For storage I have a holster on the wall for the stubby and a hook for the hose, then I just wrap the power cable on the body of the Karcher. Much easier that way.

And a massive one for me is the Nilfisk when registered on their site is a 5yr warranty which isn’t to be sniffed at, quite unbelievable actually, also does the Nilfisk not have a plastic tray/shelf that sits in top for some of your brushes etc.

A crappy B & Q version lasted longer. I've just ordered a Core 140. I'm not to keen on the AVA clear inlet, looks a little brittle but could be wrong as it maybe made from harder but pliyable plastic. Cheers for the review, I ordered from Cleanstore.......cheapest I could find.

I already have a karcher k5 compact. The Lance is lightweight but does have power adjust on it, sadly not on the machine itself - I mostly use a stubby gun from in2detailing but the Lance is OK when I can.
Wrapping the electric cable is easy and that’s the only thing I wrap around the front - the band holds it fine without much effort. I keep my hoses on a hook in the garage since karcher only put reels on the premium models in the full size range.
The hose LOVES to kink, I also bought an extension and I hate it. Wish I’d just bought a 15m replacement hose instead of 10m extension plus the 6m it came with.
Am I happy with it? It does the job for this weekend warrior, it’s definitely sturdy and I’m optimistic that the machine will last many years. The hose is frustrating but can be mitigated by extending the full way and being mindful of control, but it loves to coil when you go back on yourself. The Lance is acceptable, but I prefer my stubby. Storage of the hose is up to you. I have a K2 at the moment bought maybe 10+ years ago so it’s done we’ll still works with no problems, but it does mean a lot more hard work in cleaning than it should be. Just ordered the ava before watching this video. It's to replace a k5 which I've been using for 7 month's and fed up of it's quality. Poor hose and weight and the on/off switch packed in. When pricing up a decent hose it made sense to buy the ava (£150 as special kit) with it's 5 year guarantee (extension to 10 with service kit) and metal triple pump. Won't be buying a karcher ever again after owing 3 previously.

Which would you choose if you already had 25m hose reel, short lance and MTM PF22.2
I currently have the previous generation K5 which takes up too much floor space and want a smaller machine to mount on a shed wall which rules out a Kranzle etc as they weigh 20kg+.
I was originally thinking the Ava as its the lightest and seemed smallest but then I’m dropping slightly in flow/pressure. It doesn’t seem much to worry about from the video. The K5 Compact also doesn’t seem much bigger than the AVA. Also would be from Outlet so at least £50 cheaper.

I been watching your channel reviews for a while just to see which pressure washer to buy for cleaning the car. I have used an old K2 before and it is pretty awful as far as features go and the hose has never been improved by the looks of it even after using a K3 and K4. I don't really need a pressure washer for cleaning a drive as I can get hold of a commercial one from work. I really just want a decent machine that would store away well as wrapping up the hose and power cables is always a chore. I was leaning towards the Nilfisk as they seem to have made a bit of effort to get that part sorted but the Ava comes with quite a lot of features and extras but I have never heard of that brand before. I just want something that will perform well for the task with a decent snow foam cannon. There is obviously quite a lot of models to go with and price is a factor especially when looking at buying any extras that are not part of the stock kit. Do you know which model you would go with to fit what I am after as I still can't decide? Not related to pressure washer question but do you ever use a wash brush for cleaning the car? I have a van and sometimes it is hard to reach when cleaning. I have never really had a snow foam cannon so not sure if that would be useful enough to clean the top of a van for example that you cannot reach with a sponge. Thanks.

Hello mate. I know people are against wash brushes because they cause the odd scratch but not even values their own car in the same way. I certainly don't worry because my cars are rubbish. for car cleaning i love the AVA range because if you have lack of space the stubby gun is a real winner. the hoses are beautifully made. everything feels like it was made for the car cleaner. After all, it's entirely possible to produce a dominating PW that you will probably need to replace every 18 months for much less than one with a 5 or 10 year warranty. @@epicautomotivedetailing I think the biggest issue, the hose and cable storage, has been an issue since very, VERY early on. We have an ancient K series pressure washer where I work (I work in a garage and the thing has almost never been used) and the hose is stored wrapped around the top and then under the bottom... Where the wheels are.....
Basically, when it's stored, it's not possible to wheel it around.
Also, the lances, and forgive me for using so few words, are shyte. I'd almost rather use a hosepipe with my thumb over the end when it comes to 'trigger control' on the lances. Also, whoever thought the plasticky rotational adjustment on the lance itself for pressure would be superb needs to pick up a pressure washer and actually use it.
And the stupid chemical canisters that are proprietary to Karcher are laughable - Not only are they rare and expensive, the hilarious part is they're not. fucking. powerful. enough. Literally the cheapest TFR from Halfords (that TradeValet stuff) was more effective than the karcher chemical that was for car cleaning. And yes, I was dumb enough to buy that (£11!!!!) bottle...

I think it speaks extremely poorly on Karcher when the £60 pressure washer I bought from Lidl (Parkside PHD 110 B1) was pretty close to "on par" with the karcher in power, had a better layout, was sturdy as heck, the lance was lighter yet tougher and the attachments were actually and genuinely worth owning.
Okay, not the foam cannon, as it didn't even make bubbles, let alone foam... But a £18 cheapo Snow Foam cannon off Amazon made it just right for me messing around with cars, and it put up with my abuse for ages.
And that thing was SO SMALL, it's probably more compact than an older Kranzle unit.

@@epicautomotivedetailing It's almost like they don't have enough competition to be bothered to make it decent.
"We're hitting target sales, we're producing them under required budget and making a good profit on them, let's just call it and let it go until it gets more competition."
It's honestly so bloody poor. Thing is, as well, the brand recognition will go down rapidly if they just sit complacent like that. Karcher/Kaercher have the biggest name in pressure-washer manufacturing for consumer audiences, and the fact their machines are 'okay' for consumer use, and not 'great' just makes it really laughable that the brand has fallen so far.
That new Ava might be the shove Karcher need to get their act together.

I think the K5 needs a few more points...especially as I got what appears to be a brand new unit from Karcher Outlet for £159 a few weeks ago. Plus the extra weight over the other two means less chance of falling over!

in terms of being able to get more for your money ava wins. remember karcher commercial have patented connections so you need to use official karcher accessories

You should report the nominal pressures instead of the "max" pressures which are used by the marketing departments!
    Ava P55 is 94 bars
    K5 compact is 125 bars
    Core 140 is 110 bars
I wish people would insist on using the nominal pressures because it's now getting ridiculous, like with Parkside announcing 170 bars and only delivering 115!

Very expensive, price would be all 3 of those machines and then some depending on upgrades and TEMA quick release etc. Weight is almost those 3 put together. You say the Ava lance is heavy and not so good for car cleaning, how could it win over nilfisk? Sounds like you work for Ava

    • @epicautomotivedetailing
      @epicautomotivedetailing  Рік тому +2

I signed an agreement as of February 2023. This was way before I had any involvement with them. I'm honest and open in all my videos. Yes the lance maybe heavy for a weaker person so it's my job to be critical, but on the other hand the lance is heavier for a reason. The extendable lance makes it easier to reach the other side. It also reduces splashback so you can stand back. Also can I add that I made 3 paid advertisements for nilfisk in 2022 for cleanstore on their UA-cam channel and website so at the time so surely I would have said nilfisk if I was working for them too right??? So please get your facts right before throwing your tin hat theories at me
