I love it when if you try to change Special into Magic while the magic meter is full, Young Link will put on the Keaton Mask and pretend he's transforming, then giggle at his own joke. It's adorable little touches like that that make me happy
I like to imagine the reason why the Kokiri sword doesn't look the same is because young link gave the actual sword back to the Kokiri kids (as that's their only weapon and upon getting it the description does tell him to bring it back once he's done) and then he bought a hylian sword to replace it but like the shield it's just too big for him to use properly. He still calls it the Kokiri sword to remind him of home.
I understand that they gave Young Link a 2 handed sword so they could use the same animations, but it would have made more sense to give him the Great Fairy Sword.
If you hold the block button and press dodge while holding forward, Young Link will do a front flip that puts him fully in the air and allows him to cancel the dodge with an aerial attack (regular or strong as though you just did a C2 knock-up.) You can use this to cancel the ending of his C3 or regular attack string to extend combos infinitely. This works in Young Link and Fierce Deity Form. Potions, after apothecary upgrades, will fill the special meter. This can be used to very easily access Fierce Deity mode. Special+ will nearly always guarantee a full special bar after any Fierce Deity killing spree. At the very late game, My Fairy with Magic Fountain and Magic Fountain+ gives Young Link access to Fierce Deity for a good 6 minutes with just decent meter management. Reminder, you cannot die in Focus Spirit (Fierce Deity) mode. C5 shoots out two different sets of energy waves as Fierce Deity when he spins. Ty for coming to my TED talk.
I love playing as young Link! He feels so unique from the rest of the cast because the whole point of the character is to build magic and stay in FD form for as long as you can. I kinda wish more characters played this way. Not reliant on magic per se, but able to use their force gauge in alternative ways.
Important notes not mentioned in the video: During focus spirit, C3 shoots out two extra projectiles (for a total of three), and C5 shoots out four. This makes C3 excellent at clearing groups and grants C5 amazing single-target DPS (assuming you're close enough to hit with the blade as well as the projectiles). Unlike every other character, Young Link's magic meter won't deplete while performing a weak point smash.
You can also just spam items (Only tested with the Bow, I assume it works with the others) and he will never get out of Focus Spirit, just don’t dodge out of it, literally just keep pressing the item button.
To me that title belongs to characters like Cia Ganondorf and Volga Cia can take care of the giant bosses while Ganondorf and Volga can deal with the rest
I Vouch for Young Links Power. I frigging love the tike because he is a beast when you can keep his spirit gage up so he can fuel his magic. I recall numerous times where I use him against Ganon, and absolutely mop the floor with him WITHOUT THE USE OF ANY ITEMS. NOT EVEN THE LIGHT ARROWS. He be Op and I love it!
One notable thing that I haven't seen anyone mention yet; Young Link's C6 seems to have absolute animation priority. What this means is that, as far as I can tell, it can interrupt and cancel any attack animation from any non-giant-boss enemy in the game. This includes all forms of their force specials, and even overrides all forms of super armor. Once Young Link starts dashing, any enemy he comes into contact with will be knocked out of whatever they are doing, and completely stuck in his Triforce of PAIN. This makes that move shockingly safe despite its long animation, because once it starts, it cancels the attacks of every enemy caught in it. It's incredible, and as far as I can tell, it's the only normal move in the game that has this property, which is usually reserved for Force Specials.
With the new “My Fairy” system. Young Link can actually play the role of a team supporter by using the Light and Water Fairy Blasts to increase the capabilities of his troops. I used to use him as a steam roller. Now I’m going to make him my white mage.
One of my little gripes about this game is that Young Link’s various weapons have no visual change for the Kokiri sword, which is a bummer. The Deity swords look super cool, but we only get to see them part of the time. Oh well, I suppose
Fun fact he has the fastest walking to running speed, try it, walk with him and another character and he goes into running speed in 2 seconds about while it takes everyone else 4 or something like that
Who would win The demon king ganondorf who, with the full triforce transformed into a beast named Gabon that threatens the entire world Or A child with 2 Halloween masks
Young Link also has a parry system similar to Toon Link/Volga. If you are holding guard, and you dodge to the left or right he does a unique dodge animation which you can cancel into C2 at any time during the dodge by pressing Y. If you dodge forward, he does his MM jump flip which puts Young Link into the air, in which he can do either of his aerial attacks. I recommend his Y aerial over his X aerial because it is much faster. With the correct timing/rhythm you can do this over and over on someone's guard and stun lock them as it is incredibly fast. Once you have 3 Badges in Mole Mitts which let you do damage through guard, you can kill anyone with just Young Link doing his jump flip.
Two critical things: His extra speed and hits as Fierce Deity makes his C6 even more ridiculous, generating extremely high amounts of Force to convert into even more Magic. Likewise, Fierce Deity makes his C3 even faster than, and as strong as Master Sword Link's full-health C3, on top of Magic mode giving you automatic shield-break. If Young Link has enough enemies to fuel his fire, then he *will* outperform the Master Sword without a doubt, in my opinion. He can even put out good non-weakpoint DPS on bosses, but that creates an issue Magic upkeep as long as the boss lives. However, this probably won't be long, and at worst you can usually bring a second character specifically to help him deck bosses (ie Sheik, Cia, either Midna, Master/Hylian Sword Link). His main drawback is that without a constant source of Force and/or Magic (Basically any time the game doesn't throw minions at you), the rampage will likely be cut short or even never begin. But that's a comparatively small niche he can't access, compared to everything else that Young Link utterly decimates. At worst, you can just take in a second character as backup for bosses or generals that otherwise don't die quickly enough.
The dw3 music for the outro is getting me too emotional Young link was one of my favourites from hyrule warriors Honestly this is how he should have played in the new smash
Not sure about how exactly it would be implemented, but I always wanted to see a Smash version of a young link that used mask transformations. As he is, there isn't much that differentiates his kit from other Links, at least on previous Smash entries. (I have not played the Switch one yet.)
@@joaomarcoscosta4647 notable differences are flame arrow which deals considerable damage and stuns, better mobility than the other links, and his down air bounces him up off of anyone he hits (so basically brawl toon link dair) as well as having regular bombs compared to links new sheikah rune bombs

Young link is extremely broken in 2 player when you have another person being Sheik and use the light harp ability to summon that glowing square that fills the special attack gauge since it also affects Young Link in 2 player. Basically, as long as Sheiks around, you can stay in Fierce Deity forever.
Probably the best brawler in the game. He sucks in boss rushes or officer gauntlets but in most standard missions Young Link dispatches legions with callous ease, the opposite of Ghirahim.

Young Link is garbage. But Fierce Deity Link is amazing. I actually don’t think that Fierce Deity Link is the best in the game. That being said, he is among one of my favorite characters to use, but only in levels where I can stay Fierce Deity Link pretty much the whole time.
