Some great suggestions I must say Fob, however, I do believe you missed out on one key mask that would make Young Link an even more enjoyable character to play. I would prefer if Young Link donned the mask from the 1994 hit blockbuster The Mask starring Jim Carrey as the man who wears the mask (in The Mask), as well as Milo the dog who also wears the mask (in The Mask). Now, using the power of the mask (from The Mask) Young Link could, for example, use side B to blow up a balloon into a Tommy Gun as seen in The Mask and mow down his opponents. I believe utilising the true power of the mask (from The Mask) will give Young Link the much needed spicing up he needs. I didn't play The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, but I assume this mask was just one that slipped your mind whilst making this video. Apart from that, the masks you chose from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask are great choices in my opinion.
I think utilizing the masks in his Specials and Smash attacks is a brilliant solution to the large amount of dev time needed to make him a stance fighter. I would have his Final Smash be the Giant’s Mask and Fierce Deity Link a separate fighter.
I would also add Light Arrows and an option to switch to the slingshot for quicker yet weaker projectiles. I would definitely use the Mirror Shield and Gilded Sword and try to find a way to implement the Great Fairy’s Sword.
@@felldoh9271 I agree on all except for the final smash, there really isn't that much content to base off an entire moveset and I think that he would just end up as an another Link clone --- I think that fierce deity is pretty much perfect for the final since it's Link's most powerful form and it fittingly can only be used in "special" occasions.
Another idea for FD I have is he could be a gimmick transformation. The Giant’s Mask can only be used in one scenario which is why I think it would make for a good Final Smash.
Some masks could be used in victory animations with the mask fanfare music as the victory music. Link could be facing away from us, checking inside a postbox wearing the Mailman's hat and turn around holding up a heart piece. Don Gero Mask can be used with Link playing and dancing along with the frog choir on his Ocarina The Bremen Mask you mentioned is a perfect one honestly. It could be continuously playing on the results screen similar to Joker I think it was. Camera continuously following Link as he marches and plays the tune
Maybe a animation where young link will takeout his ocarina and play a tune from both oot and mm games. Im surprised they haven't made that a victory animation. Since the ocarina of time is important story wise and super important to The Hero of Time character- wise They can cycle through the songs like Saria's song Song of Time Oath of Order Song of Healing And plenty more songs from both games.
Excellent video. Wonderful editing and diction. For years I have imagined how amazing it would be to see the MM incarnation of Link in Smash. Maybe the smash mod community can make it happen.
Very fitting choices all around, I would absolutely love this! The only things I would suggest are changing the bremen mask taunt to one with tatl and tael, and using the bremen mask as a victory screen where he marches on an off screen with baby cuckoos following him.

Those seem like no-brainers in hindsight and I'm willing to bet that the team at least briefly considered this for Young Link, if only for Ultimate. About the taunts: Good call on leaving the Milk-taunt in there, because that seems to already _be_ a reference to Majora's Mask! I've recently played it again, and found that upon completing the alien defense, Romani gives you a bottle and tells you to "put your hand on your hip and take a big gulp" - Link didn't do that in the game, but they brought that into Smash, which I appreciate. Good video, and good job showcasing what you're talking about by using slides and similar media to create "mock-ups!" Well done.

What really surprises me is the fact that they stuck with the Triforce Slash as a final smash -- the Fierce Deity mask is such a shoe-in and doesn't seem like it would be too hard to implement either!

I really wish Smash could reference more with the characters, Toon Link could have also had so much potential, and not just wind waker, I'd love some things from Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass.

I think for the redesigned neutral B Y-Link should also have a light arrow. It would deal less percent but have the best killpower out of all of the arrows.
PJiggles recently came up with a great idea for Young Link if you wanted to use the bombs, in that the Gorons can use Powder Kegs. If you wanted to, you could make that the down special, and Goron Roll the Dash Attack. My own personal suggestion would be that maybe the Zora dash move could be forward air? Finally, since we already have Deku Nuts as an item in Smash, it would be really weird to make the version Young Link uses so weak, but also if it were the strong version it would be potentially the most broken projectile in the game.
I got some ideas, for example some of his costumes could be references to other Young links like de first zelda one or the link to the past link, like in smash remix also something I would change of every link, is their running animations, I would make them run without their things in hands because it would be more referencing, and they could be faster this way (except toon, he is already faster) great video

A youtuber named PJiggles posted a video in which he also redesigned Young Link, and I can safely say that this idea is much better than his. Nice job.
For Young Link's final smash, he should definitely slice Majora's Moon in half like in Hyrule Warriors after launching his opponents into it. It would be a bit like Ridley's, where the characters are slammed onto the surface of the moon and then Fierce Deity Link would slice the whole thing in half. And it should instantly kill when the opponent(s) are at 100% or more.
If it were up to me, I would personally give Young Link the transformations from MM, Toon Link different items from WW, and Wild Link the various melee weapons from BotW. If we need a "classic" Link, there should be OoT/TP Link as "Classic Link" as an echo for Wild Link.
I think his final smash should be more like: YL puts on the Fierce Diety mask which creates a dark circle of energy and his transormation noise/scream, it transitions to a cutscene where its basically a POV in a dark void where a deku scrub fires deku nuts at you, then disappears then Darmani III appears and uses his roll attack, then also disappears Mikau uses his fin boomerangs right after, and also vanishes. finally Feirce Deity Link does a jumping slash followed by two more powerful slashes, think Normal Link Dash attack then F-smash. It would add how YL got the Masks and maybe on rare occasions the Happy Mask Salesman can appear.
Some time ago, I also reimagined Young Link's moves, but I pictured transformations more similar to Pokemon Trainer's mechanics. You'd have regular Link, but Down B would trigger transformation, in a rotative order: Human>Deku>Goron>Zora>Human...
Cosmetics: Hero's bow, Mirror Shield, Gilded Sword and Golden Hookshot. Machanics: Side Smash uses Great Fairy Sword, Natural Special would work like Byleth's Neutral - where you can go from fire to ice but even better, you can hold it long enough and shoot light arrows! Final Smash: Of course Fierce Deity is a no-brainer.
One question I have is the transformation time. I feel like the time taken to transform him to and from the forms would make all of his specials quite slow

I made my own Young Link reworked moveset and honestly there would be so much possibilities you didn't adventure into, maybe because you wanted to make something faisable but honestly there's a lot. Link keeps the regular attacks, and grabs and Hylian Link keeps most of it's current special moveset but : Arrows become normal Side Sp becomes Bombs Down Sp becomes Mask Selection Bomb Mask, Keaton Mask, Don Gero Mask, Deku Mask, Goron Mask, Zora Mask. Bomb mask replaces the Neutral Special with an instantaneous explosion Hero Kamikaze style Keaton Mask grants Fire Arrows and new taunts Don Gero Mask grants Ice Arrows and new taunts Deku, Goron and Zora transform Deku : Weak and Light but effective for simple quick attacks Neutral Sp Bubble Shot Side Sp Twirl attack Up Sp Deku Flower Goron : Strong yet slower, it can crouch to curl into a ball and roll as a crawl. Down tilt and Down Smash are slams Neutral Sp Powder Keg Side Sp Charged Roll (Sonic's side sp) Up Sp Higher slam Zora Like regular Link in Melee Shild B Electric Barrier Neutral Sp Fin Boomerangs Side Sp Axe Kick Up Sp Typhoon (from Ruto in Hyrule Warriors) There we go
Maybe he could have like a Pokémon trainer type of man be set EX: his down b could be changing the masks he has on and then the others B’s could be unique to the mask he has on. His final smash could be The fierce Deyety mask (I don’t know how to spell that)
Good concept, but i feel having the transformative forms like pokemon trainer for his down special just makes things easier for the player. having to deal with very contrasting specials and smash attacks could make things disorienting for the player. I would say make a sort of fusion between the form mechanic and shulk's minato arts, where pressing down B pulls up a menu to select a mask, each with their own unique moveset and playstyles (a bit ambitions, but i believe more fun). also, i would make his final smash to where he stands where he is, and in sort of like mii swordfighters final smash, shoot blade beams rapidly in the direction he is facing, which go farther and hit harder but are horizontal beams rather than vertical arcs, possibly being angleable as well
I was thinking for Zora links boomerang attack you can change the direction of it when using down smash he'll throw boomerangs in opposite directions of each other and you can change from aiming in one direction to the other even after executing
The problem I see it being a reality is because these attacks happens so fast yet putting on each mask takes too long (even when you factor in the skip scene feature from the original game) for these moves to be canon.
I feel like if we were to get a character that represents Majora's Mask it should be skull kid instead of another Link for Young Link I'd change neutral special into the sling shot, make shield special the seed satchel that lets you swap between regular seeds, deku nuts that don't deal damage but fly faster and stun people then ember seeds from the Oracle games that fly slower but burn up to create a small lingering flame wherever they're aimed. For side special I'd keep the boomerang, it'd be faster and more aimable then Link's but with a little less range. For down special I'd use bombchus, they travel allong surfaces like Bombchus snd don't blow up in your hand unless you're hit with fire! To compensate they can't be thrown as far and are much weaker then normal bombs and remote bombs. For up special I'd go with a faster and safer spin attack with more aerial mobility that's weaker and unchargable, to keep with young link being faster but weaker then Link. Then, for the big change here, every second costume for young link would be A Link to the Past Link, hence the ember seeds. He's a younger Link too and has featured in four different Zelda games, meaning he should totally be in Smash! Costume one would be default OoC Young Link, two would be default LttP Young Link, three would be goron tunic OoT Young Link, four would be red mail LttP Young Link, five would be zora tunic OoT Young Link, six would be blue mail LttP Young Link, seven would be a Fierce Deity coloured OoT Young Link and eight would be greyscale gameboy LttP Young Link. Also since default LttP young link is in the game Toon Link's LttP colour alt would gain pink hair to be more in line with LttP's iconic pink haired sprite.
What baffles me is that Young Link doesn't represent Majora, which to me makes more sense than using his Ocarina design because Majora would basically kill two birds with one stone, since the inclusion of the bow makes less sense because it was a thing he could only do in Majora. Additionally I do think keeping the design he does have while adding modifications to his current moveset would work. Firstly he should carry the Glided sword and mirror shield from Majora, his hookshot grab should be golden like it is in majora. And for his specials, why not make it Fire/Ice and Light arrows? It could be something like Sora where Ice freezes allowing YL to trap and go for punishes, light arrow halts mobility akin to ZSS paralyzer gun and fire arrows work like they do. After all the bow and arrows are all major components for Link in terms of traversal and puzzle solving when not using Masks in Majora. They could even do the HW thing and make Young Link carry his three transformation masks around his belt. And final Smash would be Fierce Diety Link. Tatl could either be a taunt or be seen floating around YL. I also think Bombs should be replaces with Bombchus, since not only is it in both games, but it would give a version of Link a variation of bombs that aren't just a regular bomb. Since Link would have remote bomb and Toon Link bombs, why not Bombchus for Young Link? You could also add Deku Nuts into his side b since they are in both games. As for his normals? Really only Great Fairy Sword and Deku Stick, but I think his normals are fine as they are. The ocarina should also be one of his taunts or a victory screen animation. Even add the transformations there too and Tatl
Presumably, Sakurai either doesn't want to alienate established players of a certain character, or he doesn't feel like redesigning a character that already works in Smash.
I gotta say, this moveset is nice... but uhh...... here is only one change: Neutral special: slingshot origin: Majora's mask damage percent: 2.1% i still can't believe its not in smash yet, but it is similar to his old Neutral special and villagers Fair and Bair
Including the Slingshot is a great idea! The only reason I didn't go down that route is because I was fully committing to the Majora's Mask references on this occasion.
I think his slingshot should be like foxes lazer, no knockback just damage it would be cool to have a tool like that, and maybe for his down special, I forgot the name havent played oot in a while, but I think its dins fire right? just an explosive powerful move that deals like 10-15% self damage.
I can keep the current Young Link, just please transform him into Fierce Deity when performs his Final Smash. Also, give his Down B a little chance to get a Bombchu instead of a regular bomb (not my idea, I read it in another side). I think BOTW Link and Toon Link are who need bigger changes.

For Young Link's final smash, he should definitely slice Majora's Moon in half like in Hyrule Warriors after launching his opponents into it. It would be a bit like Ridley's, where the characters are slammed onto the surface of the moon and then Fierce Deity Link would slice the whole thing in half. And it should instantly kill when the opponent(s) are at 100% or more.
If it were up to me, I would personally give Young Link the transformations from MM, Toon Link different items from WW, and Wild Link the various melee weapons from BotW. If we need a "classic" Link, there should be OoT/TP Link as "Classic Link" as an echo for Wild Link.
After recently finishing my first playthrough of BotW, I totally agree with you, there is so much to work with for a potential Wild Link moveset.
I think his final smash should be more like: YL puts on the Fierce Diety mask which creates a dark circle of energy and his transormation noise/scream, it transitions to a cutscene where its basically a POV in a dark void where a deku scrub fires deku nuts at you, then disappears then Darmani III appears and uses his roll attack, then also disappears Mikau uses his fin boomerangs right after, and also vanishes. finally Feirce Deity Link does a jumping slash followed by two more powerful slashes, think Normal Link Dash attack then F-smash. It would add how YL got the Masks and maybe on rare occasions the Happy Mask Salesman can appear.

Some time ago, I also reimagined Young Link's moves, but I pictured transformations more similar to Pokemon Trainer's mechanics.
You'd have regular Link, but Down B would trigger transformation, in a rotative order: Human>Deku>Goron>Zora>Human...
They could of at least given young link a fairy to reference that unique part of his moveset
Cosmetics:
Hero's bow, Mirror Shield, Gilded Sword and Golden Hookshot.
Machanics:
Side Smash uses Great Fairy Sword,
Natural Special would work like Byleth's Neutral - where you can go from fire to ice but even better, you can hold it long enough and shoot light arrows!

Of course Fierce Deity is a no-brainer.

Up taunt dekus mask down taunt goron mask and side taunt is zora mask not sure if it should have a time limit or not and if link becomes a different character or not tell and keep the moves u gave I'm not sure 🤔
I made my own Young Link reworked moveset and honestly there would be so much possibilities you didn't adventure into, maybe because you wanted to make something faisable but honestly there's a lot.
Link keeps the regular attacks, and grabs and Hylian Link keeps most of it's current special moveset but :
Arrows become normal
Side Sp becomes Bombs
Down Sp becomes Mask Selection
Bomb Mask, Keaton Mask, Don Gero Mask, Deku Mask, Goron Mask, Zora Mask.
Bomb mask replaces the Neutral Special with an instantaneous explosion Hero Kamikaze style
Keaton Mask grants Fire Arrows and new taunts
Don Gero Mask grants Ice Arrows and new taunts
Deku, Goron and Zora transform
Deku :
Weak and Light but effective for simple quick attacks
Neutral Sp Bubble Shot
Side Sp Twirl attack
Up Sp Deku Flower
Goron :
Strong yet slower, it can crouch to curl into a ball and roll as a crawl. Down tilt and Down Smash are slams

EX: his down b could be changing the masks he has on and then the others B’s could be unique to the mask he has on. His final smash could be The fierce Deyety mask (I don’t know how to spell that)
Good concept, but i feel having the transformative forms like pokemon trainer for his down special just makes things easier for the player. having to deal with very contrasting specials and smash attacks could make things disorienting for the player. I would say make a sort of fusion between the form mechanic and shulk's minato arts, where pressing down B pulls up a menu to select a mask, each with their own unique moveset and playstyles (a bit ambitions, but i believe more fun). also, i would make his final smash to where he stands where he is, and in sort of like mii swordfighters final smash, shoot blade beams rapidly in the direction he is facing, which go farther and hit harder but are horizontal beams rather than vertical arcs, possibly being angleable as well
I was thinking for Zora links boomerang attack you can change the direction of it when using down smash he'll throw boomerangs in opposite directions of each other and you can change from aiming in one direction to the other even after executing
Cool idea, that'd make the boomerangs a lot more versatile!
Goron pound would be a great down special
The problem I see it being a reality is because these attacks happens so fast yet putting on each mask takes too long (even when you factor in the skip scene feature from the original game) for these moves to be canon.
Id prefer that instead of the Hero Shield and the Kokiri Sword he wielded the Mirror Shield and the Gilded Sword

That's definitely the main thing missing from Young Linl's kit
I feel like if we were to get a character that represents Majora's Mask it should be skull kid instead of another Link for Young Link I'd change neutral special into the sling shot, make shield special the seed satchel that lets you swap between regular seeds, deku nuts that don't deal damage but fly faster and stun people then ember seeds from the Oracle games that fly slower but burn up to create a small lingering flame wherever they're aimed.
For side special I'd keep the boomerang, it'd be faster and more aimable then Link's but with a little less range.
For down special I'd use bombchus, they travel allong surfaces like Bombchus snd don't blow up in your hand unless you're hit with fire! To compensate they can't be thrown as far and are much weaker then normal bombs and remote bombs.
For up special I'd go with a faster and safer spin attack with more aerial mobility that's weaker and unchargable, to keep with young link being faster but weaker then Link.
Then, for the big change here, every second costume for young link would be A Link to the Past Link, hence the ember seeds. He's a younger Link too and has featured in four different Zelda games, meaning he should totally be in Smash! Costume one would be default OoC Young Link, two would be default LttP Young Link, three would be goron tunic OoT Young Link, four would be red mail LttP Young Link, five would be zora tunic OoT Young Link, six would be blue mail LttP Young Link, seven would be a Fierce Deity coloured OoT Young Link and eight would be greyscale gameboy LttP Young Link.
Also since default LttP young link is in the game Toon Link's LttP colour alt would gain pink hair to be more in line with LttP's iconic pink haired sprite.
I need this just so I can back throw people offstage for the link statue to spike them

What baffles me is that Young Link doesn't represent Majora, which to me makes more sense than using his Ocarina design because Majora would basically kill two birds with one stone, since the inclusion of the bow makes less sense because it was a thing he could only do in Majora. Additionally I do think keeping the design he does have while adding modifications to his current moveset would work. Firstly he should carry the Glided sword and mirror shield from Majora, his hookshot grab should be golden like it is in majora. And for his specials, why not make it Fire/Ice and Light arrows? It could be something like Sora where Ice freezes allowing YL to trap and go for punishes, light arrow halts mobility akin to ZSS paralyzer gun and fire arrows work like they do. After all the bow and arrows are all major components for Link in terms of traversal and puzzle solving when not using Masks in Majora. They could even do the HW thing and make Young Link carry his three transformation masks around his belt. And final Smash would be Fierce Diety Link. Tatl could either be a taunt or be seen floating around YL.
I also think Bombs should be replaces with Bombchus, since not only is it in both games, but it would give a version of Link a variation of bombs that aren't just a regular bomb. Since Link would have remote bomb and Toon Link bombs, why not Bombchus for Young Link? You could also add Deku Nuts into his side b since they are in both games. As for his normals? Really only Great Fairy Sword and Deku Stick, but I think his normals are fine as they are. The ocarina should also be one of his taunts or a victory screen animation. Even add the transformations there too and Tatl

Presumably, Sakurai either doesn't want to alienate established players of a certain character, or he doesn't feel like redesigning a character that already works in Smash.

i still can't believe its not in smash yet, but it is similar to his old Neutral special and villagers Fair and Bair
Including the Slingshot is a great idea! The only reason I didn't go down that route is because I was fully committing to the Majora's Mask references on this occasion.
I think his slingshot should be like foxes lazer, no knockback just damage it would be cool to have a tool like that, and maybe for his down special, I forgot the name havent played oot in a while, but I think its dins fire right? just an explosive powerful move that deals like 10-15% self damage.
I can keep the current Young Link, just please transform him into Fierce Deity when performs his Final Smash.
Also, give his Down B a little chance to get a Bombchu instead of a regular bomb (not my idea, I read it in another side).
I think BOTW Link and Toon Link are who need bigger changes.
Not having Fierce Deity as the final smash was a pretty big missed opportunity, shame it didn't happen
This is a really great way to incorporate the masks without completely changing characters. However I do have to say I would prefer if they did change characters completely. It’s just really far fetched
