Does the battery gets hot? I bought. sony camera today and the battery got really hot really fast. I'm definitely returning it tomorrow. Is this camera worth it?

it's not 1" it's 1/2.3 which is a lot smaller!
anybody know how this compares to a canon g7x?
the sensor in the SX730 is not a one inch sensor (12.8mm by 9.6mm) but a 1/2.3 inch (6.2mm x 4.6mm)
no problem....I own a SX730 and would very much like to think it has a one inch sensor on board. Alas, it does not. Still it is a nice piece of machinery for the price.
The one inch sensor claim for the other camera markets is a false marketing claim in general anyway..read about it on the net

@@julieleal1346 just have to use manual mode but the low light performance isn’t going to be much better if at all because of the small sensor size

this camera in dark places the video is horrific, in a nice day my $ 25 dollar 4K camera Chinese, makes a much better and more vivid video
The 730 is only good for when the lighting is perfect. Ideally outdoors with good light. Do not expect to use this camera indoors and end up with good video footage. It gets really grainy and noisy even in lighting that is not super dim. If you want a camera that does good low light video, you have to pay a couple hundred more dollars - Canon g7x mk II or better.

Can you add your own mic to the camera and can you easily transfer your recordings to your computer or laptop
Nope no mic jack or a hot shoe to mount a mic.....you can transfer files like any other camera through an SD card. Honestly if you were looking for something easy to use at that size for vlogging I would suggest the Sony ZV-1, but it’s a little more pricey. Flip out screen mic jack, built in ND Filters. It’s a nice little package.

I really like the flip screen, I like the quality of the photo (i usually take quick pics in daylight) but I'm worried about the crop factor, is there anything u know that is around the same size, has the flip camera, and will make it wider? I don't want my whole face to take up the screen

Look I am not trying to be a smart arse but I have done alot of research on this camera as its on my short list to buy. It does not have a 1 inch sensor. It has a small sensor. From its specifications "The Canon PowerShot SX730 HS features a 20.3 megapixel 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor" Hence why it does not perform well in low light. If it had a 1 inch sensor it would be great in low light.
How does this camera audio do while driving in a car? I have a CoolPix S5300 and the sound distorts so much it is unusable in certain situations (kids yelling, in the car, a little bit of wind). Looking for something for Vlogging and need the sound to be pretty darn good in conditions like a moving car or with sudden loud sounds. Would this be a good camera to buy?

Excellent news. Literally every time I film in the car with my current CoolPix the audio is completely distorted! I think I will buy this camera.

I like to use this camera when trying to enter concert and game venues because it has great zoom and picture quality features like the larger "professional" looking cameras but the security people often let you bring it in because it looks like a simple camera that doesn't let the operator do that much. More and more in recent years, secutity staffs are cracking down on what they call "professional looking" cameras with very large lenses. This camera offers similar quality without the large lense look.
Should I get this or sony a5100?
Well, the way I see it, they are different animals. If you get the a5100, you can grow and add lenses and maybe later grow into another body. The Panasonic, I see could be a travel companion. Something you an throw into a backpack. It has a long lens. The image quality will be better on the Sony. Plus, later on if you get interested in photography, you have a starting point. Good luck with your decision. Personally, I'd get the A5100, but I'm interested in photography. It's small and with the larger sensor, you can crop into the images which would compensate for the long reach of the Panasonic.
