Looked like a great day out... Got to keep the calorie replacement going with plenty of cake... I believe cold cocco pops in water works too!

Yes the pops do work, and served with cold water is the way forward ...
You were very jealous of my cuisine on that trip.

I don't understand that 'perfectly normal'. My biggest fear is waking up one day and finding I'm normal. Great video, looked a heap of fun.

absolutely..! normal is no good. It has become my pet phrase for taking the p155 when something isnt very normal...
On a different topic - I used to live in Christchurch NZ and worked at the airport there so just looking at your videos brings back some great memories!
      Thanks

@@GoneKayaking Live about a 30 minute walk to the airport. Yes I tend to walk most places, despite owning half a dozen motor vehicles, about 20 bicycles, 11 kayaks, 2 surfski's, power boat, dinghy, .... As I said, I just don't do normal.
You probably saw a video of the Boys Brigade boys at the airport getting a ride. I've been a leader for 35 years, so they get to use a fair bit of my gear along with the Girls Brigade. Unfortunately someone stole my trailer a couple of months ago so hard to get many kayaks to the water at the moment.

Even without getting the swell that you wanted to be able to have a good surf you were still going along a fair speed going by the water passing your hull.
I am looking at getting a P&H Scorpio at some point soon. I do like the look of the Valkyrie, just have a weight issue that means I wouldn't be able to take as much kit being on the heavier side as a paddler. So most boats I am at the limit weight wise and some I simply could get my legs in. My current boat is a bugger in the wind even with a low deck profile, and very little rocker. I end up paddling as if I am in a canoe just to keep straight compared to others using the Dagger Stratos from the club. I have the Wave Sport Hydra at the minute. a very comfortable boat, but one that really gets on my nerves when the wind picks up or trying to turn it quickly.

      Thanks for the comments.
The scorpio is a very good place to start and the HV must be pretty huge. I am 6ft 2in and fit well in a Scorpio MV.
The Valkyrie is also a very comfortable fit but the low rear deck limits the boot space in the rear hatch. I can still do overnighters with no issues though.
For me the Valkyrie suits the local conditions well with occasional rock hopping, but mostly open water and a bit of surf where possible. I get that it won't suit everyone.
Enjoy the journey and keep in touch! I'll look out for updates.
      Thanks
      Darren

@@GoneKayaking I am now also 6'2" was taller but have shrunk a bit over the years. My main issue is being 110kg. which does surprise people that I paddle with.
That puts my right within the weight limit of the Valkyrie with my paddling kit on, the MV Scorpio is about 15kg of kit carrying capacity left over, with out my kit on. I have had to buy relatively light weight camping kit, without going ultra light and having a tent that is too small to do anything in if the weather is being a bit naff.

@@Simon_W74 aha yes.. I took the smallest lightest tent to Iceland with me - and regretted it when stuck on an island with rubbish weather for a bit so just lying there in a canvas tomb for a while... haha.
