@Phantom Penance it would be funny to find out that the traveler literally cannot fight itself. It's power is to grant life so the unintended consequence of it doing anything is that it just resurrects stuff.
I love the Witness' design. It looks unlike anything we've seen in Destiny before, it speaks as if it speaks within your own mind, and its role within the narrative is massive given everything we know about the lore.
They nailed the aesthetics for this 🤩 all the designs are top tier

I just got back into it and did the Witch Queen campaign. Kinda disappointed I didn't have time to do the Season of the Seraph stuff, looked pretty cool. But bring on Lightfall!
@@Bitobytebot Yep I was pushing Nightfalls to get it. I only just came back like 5 days ago and did the entire season pass and the end story, got revision zero's catalysts, got doggo.... and the ikelos smg pattern.... been grinding my butt off and thatnks to some friends help as well.

The part where Osiris tells us to not fear strand is because a lot of guardians have used abilities from the darkness, but it corrupted many of them. Strand is a newly discovered power, but before that guardians used stasis and weapons of sorrow that came from the darkness.

One tiny bit of context that would help set these trailers up is the cutscene that ended Season 19- it's good for establishing the mood in the Last City as well as what everyone's up to right as Lightfall is about to begin.
Otherwise... the board is set, the lines are drawn, and the players have arrived. Time to see where it all goes.

The last trailer gives me chills every time I see!
Every trailer had me hyped, but besides that, the launch trailer took the grin from my face as I'm going "ooooooooh shiiit!!"
Especially when the Witness sliced the Ghost, Guardian and their ship into neat pieces with a just a flick of it's wrist. Terrifying power!

the number 1 thing im most excited for with strand is that you can basically hook onto anything, even an empty sky
sure you can imagine being spider-man, but i want to hook on to a friendly titan's thundercrash (basically a titan just hurtles thru the sky while being electrified)

Darin’s appeared on Critical Role a few times, both in campaigns/one-shots & The Legend of Vox Machina.
Strand is a darkness subclass, and its an ability that we discover for ourselves to fight the Witness. Strand is also (according to lore) the cosmic threads that we manipulate. And Osiris saying to embrace it and not fear it(im guessing here) is about not fearing the darkness anymore.

Not some rando, there were three Arcadia class ships cut up and the titan was wearing OG d1 armor. He killed the OG d1 fireteam with a flick of his wrist.

Lance Reddick voices Zavala, he also avidly plays the game, which is incredibly cool. He's in the cast but he's a fan too.

Tiny bit of lore strand acording to bungie is "the cosmic web of life" its the idea thag everything is connected by this invisible web. And we dont know how yet but we are gonna learn to see into it and kinda pull it appart and reweave it into our new powers. Its also how you can grapple to nothing, because you're actually grappling to this invisible web.
It might take.a bit but it will be fun to see you guys catch up to here a crazy amount of.story stuff has happened as you can probably tell.

The stakes are most definitely the highest they've been with Lightfall entering. i think the community is the most hyped they've been, and for good reason. The story is finally at a point where we come face to face with the myths of Light and Dark. I'm just hoping Bungie can answer everything we've been questioning since the games inception in 2014.

So first the voice of Zavala, who is played by Lance Reddick and yes he does the voice of the lead dragon in "Legends of Vox Machina" and he stared in John Wick. So Strand is a power of Darkness and not Light (though Strand is a power that binds all living things to each other and maybe even just all thing to each other). So this is the second power of Darkness, we will have at are fingers. So this should be fun I hope. So STAY SAFE and have a great day. 👍
The lore for this game is almost unmatched. Deep rooted in philosophy and magic. The reason why players are so excited for this expansion is because of how the devs lead the players to this point. Each season is rooted in weekly story missions that progress the story further and more in depth. This past season known as Season of the Seraph told the story of humanity sort of learning about the existence of Neomuna, the capital city of Neptune. This is so significant to the story because for the LONGEST TIME since D1, we believed that we were truly the last human civilization in the solar system or "Sol" as its commonly referred to as. "Strand" as the devs described is something that WE the player discover for the first time in all of Destiny's universe history. With Stasis, we may have been the first GAURDIAN to wield it, but not the first one all together. This one, we are the first one to discover and use it.

"Strand," a newly discovered Darkness power.
Strand is the core building block of the universe, just like the force in starwars, but for some reason, the Hive and other races loyal to the "swordlogic" haven't made use of it.
AFAIK it isnt darkness but the basis of everything in the universe. Everything is made up of strand. it flow everywhere. It's not a power in the normal sense. What we are doing is manipulating the strands around us to do what we want.
To be explained in a simple way, strand is the psychic cosmic web that connects all living things around us together. In the lightfall campaign we tried to use by force but caused negative impacts to our guardian in the process
Youd be right about the steaks being higher, this is the expansion that is right before the next one which is going to be destiny’s “end game” for a good comparison.
A cool little detail, stand is based on threads of strings (won’t say anything story wise to elaborate) and the music in the background of the stand trailer was instruments that r based on strings.
The man you thought sounded familiar (Zavala) is Lance Reddick. He is a famous actor who was in a lot of popular movies and games.

So Osiris was the one teaching us about strand and telling us to embrace it and not back away from it because its a power from the darkness, for most of Destiny story we have fought with the Light to protect the Light, Traveler, and Humanity. The Light gave us 3 elements to wield, solar (orange fire abilities), arc (light blue electric abilities), and void (purple misty abilities). In the lore we were told the Darkness was the terrifying, evil, and corrupting force but when the expansion called Beyond Light came out for Destiny 2 we started to have the curtain pulled back for us as to what the Darkness is and does. Beyond Light is also the expansion which we had a new subclass/element added to our existing ones, stasis (dark blue/indigo ice abilities), but that power was gifted to us by (I think) the Witness (giving what we know now after The Witch Queen expansion). Strand was described by the game devs as an ability/subclass/element that is entirely new and no one else in the universe has ever wielded it before, but it is from the Darkness.
Anyways, I'm excited for your Destiny 2 reactions, the expansions AND seasons. They added seasons after the 3rd expansion in Destiny 2, Forsaken, and they have their own stories and character development which tie the seasons and expansions together nicely and allow for more exploration of certain topics and characters.

Strand is a darkness power, and the Guardians have only ever used the power of the Light, and just started to use the Darkness power. Strand is essentially the concept of manipulating the strings and webs of reality, and using it for many things in combat.
This is definitely going to be epic, the hype towards the next phase of the story, the new Darkness subclass', it's just so awesome now. Destiny 2 cut scenes will definitely help bring you up to speed.

@Kristopher Sy Pretty sure weapons of sorrow, being made from Darkness, shouldn't be able to do Solar damage, which is Light, not to mention it's never been confirmed as one

I don't know what to make of the traveler and the witness. The whole thing. Like are they primordial forces or beings wielding the primordial forces? Like this is some cosmic fight between light and dark being played out by them. But how does one fight that?

The strand is the new element. it is neither light nor darkness but is the manipulation of the fabric of the universe. everything is made of strands, we are learning to manipulate it.

It's really cool to see so many people hyped and enjoying the stuff (indeterminate gender pronoun) produces, I know they are really excited to see everyone reacting to stuff they've worked so hard on. So Strand isnt a power of the Light. Technically its our 2nd darkness subclass next to Stasis. But i think its neither. I think we use the dark within ourselves to channel it but i dont think its a dark power. Strand from what we know is just the threads that bind all of reality together. Its the cosmic web of the universe. We get a grappling hook and you can hook on to anything and you can use it anywhere. If theres nothing to hook on to, it hooks onto the cosmic web in mid air.
The reason this one looks so different is because we’re headed to a city on Neptune that survived the collapse and remained hidden since. Its called Neo Muna. Because they’ve been thriving essentially, everything is so bright and nothing is destroyed or ruined.
When you guys start your D2 journey you gotta keep in mind that the content model has changed over the years. Once you reach the seasonal model theres less cutscenes but more dialogue and character interactions that lead into smaller cutscenes and big finales. I hope you can find a good place to get all that. Also try and check out some of the bigger side quests if you can as they often provide additional information and sometimes big revelations.
Long story short, the Light and Dark saga, that started with Destiny 1, is about to end, an easy comparisson is to say that with Lightfall we're in the Infinity War of Destiny's story. And the devs have confimed that the next dlc, the final dlc of this saga, won't be the last we'll see of Destiny, it'll continue afterwards, much like the MCU did after Endgame.
I'll keep it short so as to not spoil much, but as it turns out, the darnkess itself is not evil, but the entity that controls it is, that entity is The Witness, and it came back to end what it started during the First Collapse, but lo and behold, The Last City wasn't THE last human city as we've been led to believe after all these years.
There is another city on Neptune, where humans have been living and thriving since the collapse, keeping and improving on Golden Age tech and staying under the radar so as to not endanger themselves, but now, due to certain reasons, we've discovered their existence, and so have The Witness and it's forces. So it's time to unite and defend Neomuna together with the Cloudstriders, the elite warriors from the city on Neptune.
That new city is called Neomuna, is the city you've seen in the trailers, it has a retro-futuristic neon vibe to it, much like TRON, Blade Runner or Cyberpunk2077 and of course, we can assume there'll be 80's inspired music while playing this DLC and whilst doing missions, etc on Neomuna.
I hope you can get up to date soon on Destiny's story, the stakes are higher than have ever been, and for lore nerds such as myself, well, we're getting really good stuff as of the past 2-3 years, ever since Shadowkeep.

I thought about it a lot because I loved Destiny 1 but by the time Destiny 2 came out I had different things to play and was pretty distracted.
And now I feel like its to late because so much happened already in this game. All the expansions and events.

Until now, the darkness threatened our lives, our survival as a species. The Witness feels like he is toying with the fabric of reality itself. How do you even begin to fight something like this?

i love the destiny reactions, however if you ever did want to play it, its is not free to play as much as it is free to try. for every part of the story - to my experience - there is a paid dlc, only the base, bare bones start is free. which is a shame
