- Liam Payne, the former member of One Direction, has died aged 31 in Argentina, police say.
Police said he fell from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, according to AFP news agency and local media.
Earlier this month, he had attended the Argentina concert of his former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan.
Payne was part of the much-loved boyband, along with Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik.

Argentinian here. Media here is showing photos of alcohol and drug abuse in his room hotel. A hotel worker called 911 because Liam was being very aggresive and feared for his life.
@@manu3l246 the photo of the hotel room was also on his wiki page this evening but was swiftly removed. I suspect his family had not even been informed, and already the paps were rushing in to make their 💰
So the leaked photos were real most people are saying that it was fake.

Pictures of his hotel room shows a smashed TV, a chunk out of the sink and drugs and alcohol were found in his room. Staff at the hotel said he was being aggressive and had to carried to his room. In the past he spoke about his battle with addiction and thoughts of taking his life. Some articles say he fell an others say he threw himself off the balcony, either way what a sad end to his life.

internet bullying is horrible.
He got so much hate on Instagram it was unbelievable. This on top of the pressures of growing up in 1D and battling addiction. The world was unfair to him, for sure. It was so hard to see the haters when all he was trying to do was revive his career and get his life together. His interview on Diary of a CEO really showed a young man struggling under the weight of it all and trying to focus on the positive like Bear. Was he an angel? No. I don’t judge his acting out behaviour. I’ve never been under a global microscope like he was. May he now rest in Peace.

Sensitive people struggle with demons way too often and the hardest. Got a voice acting background and used some of 1D songs as a vocal warm up. The vocal training itself for me was really tough, sometimes without noticeable results for months but artists like him, Chester or Kevin Conroy're a great impulse to not give up: was almost Leon in those new RE games. RIP Brother.

I was never a one direction fan but hearing their music was unavoidable growing up in that era, they were like a symbol of childhood innocence and joyful teenage culture. that has now been darkened by this tragic death. I wonder how this will effect the zeitgeist of the rest of the year for an already disillusioned generation. always appreciate your loved ones because no one is invincible :( it's especially grim to imagine whoever took that photograph looming over the spot where he fell and taking a photo to send to TMZ. I hope everyone involved gets backlash for that, and that people leave his ex girlfriend alone, as she will inevitably get blamed for this after making complaints against him. R.I.P

I saw his name trending these past few weeks with bullying comments getting thousands of likes. This is bullying on a huge platform. I don’t know anyone who can mentally cope with that, yet alone someone as vulnerable as Liam was. He was a sweetheart and he was harmless. His smile was like a puppy dog. It makes me said to hear any of his vocals in a one direction song. He was the main vocalist and his singing voice was so special. Please don’t pile on somebody. Even if you think that person has made a mistake. You don’t know the damage you do collectively when everyone joins in to give their opinion. If we just got on with our lives and didn’t get involved with gossip, Liam would still be here.
