Ah, cheers man. I always get a bit worried going 'off topic' so I really appreciate the feedback. Still trying to improve my edits so it's good that you enjoyed it bud 👍
Thanks Ross. I'm loving it so far. This is defo going to be my main bike for winter. It's just so much fun. I will still be getting on the AM9 though - don't want to forget how to ride her!
Ha ha. Ain't that always the way mate. I have to admit, I thought the steel hardtail thing was all hype... until I rode one ❤ Keep enjoying the bike buddy 👍
Nice mate. I am totally biased, I can't deny that, but I feel like you are getting a more unique bike. You are also getting bang on geometry. You should drop the guys at Bird a message and see if there is anywhere you could demo one. There is a really helpful Facebook group as well. Worth asking around on there 👍 Good luck. Hopefully see you with the other flockists soon!
Ah man. I think you'd enjoy it. My first ride video is actually out at 5pm today. Hopefully you enjoy it and it gives you the info that will help you make a decision. Can't wait to get the video out!
@@streetpigeonmtb Orange hardtail is my steed of choice. I bought a new one in August, saving money at the time reducing the spec, I've since spent £500 upgrading. Hows that for false economy 😂
@@streetpigeonmtb lol no worries man, i didn't even realise! We lost internet from the storm this weekend and only just got it back now! 4 days offline not good!! looking forward to seeing you ride it !
@@DownhillDesireMTB thanks man. I hope you guys enjoy it. I warn you, watching a 40 year old muscle a hardtail down some gnarly enduro trails might not be that pretty! Glad you have power back bud. Stay safe 👍
Hi, love the channel and got me looking into the Forge, Bird cycles only an hour away. Do you think the Forge would work as a general trail bike for UK local trail rides (fast woodland single track, some fast rocky descents, nothing too technical south of England) Or too aggressive/LLS for that? Thinking of running it with 130mm fork. Thanks for the vids. Keep up the good work!
I think it would work really well. I always think Birds ride a lot less aggressively than the geometry suggests they would. For me, I'd still stick a 150mm fork on them. For the slight weight offset you'll get more travel that I don't feel will cost you on the climbs. I experimented with 130mm and 150mm on my Aether 9C and I've come to the conclusion that 150mm is king on the trails... Well, for me at least!
Hmm. That's a good question. Where do you come in on the sizing chart? If you are in between on the sizing chart my advice is give Bird a call. Ben, Tomas, and Clark have always been able to give me good advice on that front and they won't try and sell you a frame size just to shift one if you know what I mean. Otherwise trust the sizing chart. Bird put a lot of thing into those charts. I was marginal when I got my AM9 between L and XL. Ben advised me to size down in that instance and it was a really good decision.
Of course John. I'm 187cm which is the latter half of 6 ft 2. I went for L although I could've gone for XL. The reason I went L is that this will be more of an all rounder than my enduro bike. E.g. XC and jumping as well. Bird are really spot on with sizing. If you are unsure give them a call. They always give decent advice in my experience 👍
It's amazingly quick mate. Obviously the one we did was slower with filming but I spoke to Tomas who reckons a standard build Forge is about an hour! TBF when you see the guys work it makes sense. They have it down to an art. I think it would take me a couple of days at least 🤣
Because the Hope rims didn't have a good reputation, especially when they first came out. I can't comment on what they are like now but when the first ones came out they were very soft. The 511 are really strong and well regarded as are the Hope Pro 4 hubs, so it was a great combo to put together 👍
Colour is banging mate!
Cheers Tommy! She's lovely dude. Absolutely loving getting out on the hardtail 😁
@@streetpigeonmtb All about the hardtail hype bro especially in winter 😂💪🏼
