For the longest time I thought A*Teens had covered this song and only remembered I had seen it performed on Disney Channel a lot as a kid and could never find it until googling groups that covered "Tragedy" and stumbled upon this. Thanks for uploading! Apparently my memory as an 8-year-old was very wrong.
This is a real treat to see in good quality. I was 17 at the time this aired and watched it constantly! Here we are now in 2022 and the group has a Platinum Collection honoring their 25th Anniversary coming out next month.
This was my introduction to Steps back in 1999! ... An American watching this on U.S. tv... Disney Channel special, Steps paired back-to-back with the boyband Youngstown.Thank you for posting!
never seen this before and I am glad they went to USA and had fun❤ what I love about this show is that they had a band and backup singers that’s why some live vocals can be heard and the production is amazing.
Thank You For This Upload ❣️ I Remember Recording This Concert Cause The Boy Band Youngstown Was On This Same Episode Lol. I Had No Clue Who Steps Were Previously But Fell In Love With Their Energy 💕💫 I’d Watch This Repeatedly & Memorized Their Choreography Lol
So random but I’ve been searching for a video of them in the costume shop forever. It took me awhile to figure out who the band was. 😫 I used to have it on vhs but lost it.
At the Walt Disney Costume Department, according to my memory, Steps dressed up as: AJ Frost from Armageddon (1998) & a crab for Lee Bobby Bouchet from The Waterboy (1998) & a bunny for Ian An angel & the Fairy Godmother from Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella (1997) for Claire EDIT: Tinkerbell for Lisa. Winifred Sanderson from Hocus Pocus (1993) for Faye. I don't remember what costume she was dared to dress up in, nor do I remember Lisa's costume dare.
@Tim Uchwat Steps also sang "Deeper Shade of Blue" but that song was cut from the broadcast. I'm not sure how many songs Youngstown sang; my friend and I left the concert right after Steps.
I think H is the one who keeps the group together. He and Clara are very close and they help support each other during the first breakup. She always said she was never going to rejoin the group again. After the reunion meeting, I think she realize the damage she caused to the other members. They are still popular after 25 yrs. Not as popular in the states as in Europe. Still loving the music.

I had a recorded blank VHS of this and rewatched it like 3 dozen times. Lost it 10 or 15 yrs ago. Thanks for unlocking a childhood memory! ⚡️✨
Omg. Same here.
Same
CLAIIIIIIRE! Still my fave vocals EVER! 🧡🌟
Friends and I did a talent show using the songs and choreo from this concert. These concerts were the highlight of high school!

Where was the moment where you see STEPS at the Walt Disney costume shop playing dress up

I had never heard of Steps until a few years ago. I love this! Dunno how I missed this as a kid 😅
Oh no! Yes, you really did miss out! Well, I'm glad you're here now. :-)
I was at that concert! I'm the guy in the front row with the baseball cap who made all of the posters :)
@Tim Uchwat Steps also sang "Deeper Shade of Blue" but that song was cut from the broadcast. I'm not sure how many songs Youngstown sang; my friend and I left the concert right after Steps.
The two guys in the front are the best 😂😂
In the white and grey? Lol they were really into it 😂
Where are they now?!
I was waiting to see if someone would say this they’re having a great time!
They understood the assignment 😊
Wonderful grup Steps 😘💐💐💐🌻🌻😉
How Steps never caught on in America, I will never know.
Same with A*Teens, my guess is they (Steps) were far too traditional pop-dance music focused at a time when the Swedish sound was dominant in the US.
eventhough we did not see them in person i felt that their very near in my eyesight
Ian and Lisa were my favorite
A lot of Americans enjoying themselves. I'm surprised they didn't take off in the States

Rock version of Tragedy......😲🎵🎶👍
I swear there used to be an interview part where they all tried on costumes. Was that cut out or was it something completely different?
There was when it was aired on TV. I waa hoping to see that :/
