- 1:16 Scale. Model Engineering. One-Off Aluminum Model. Truly scratch-built.
The custom metal models built by Guillermo Rojas Bazán are considered the best in the world in their category by several institutions of wide international prestige such as the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame, the National Museum of the United States Air Force and Christie's South Kensington. See "Recognition letters" here:
www.rojasbazan....
He has worked as a professional model maker in four different countries building over 150 aluminum models in different scales for museums, collectors and aviation art galleries around the world during 38 years. See the related story:

I do not have words. You make everything so much better. Even those original Stuka builders are nothing compared to you, SIR
Thank you for the nice comment, sir
Truly staggering level of skill, to the point of true artistry. You've proven you can make jewellery from aluminium.
Thank you sir.
I am an artist and have always been impressed with other peoples work but your work goes far beyond being impressed i am stunned, i would love to own one of your works..
Thank you sir, I appreciate your words. I will no longer build such detailed models because they are time consuming and expensive, but possibly in the near future I will build some models on my own in small scales and put them up for sale through this channel and my website.
If I didn't see it with my own eyes, I wouldn't believe this level of skill was possible.
I really appreciate your comment, Damian. Thank you.
I keep coming back to this, I just can't get my head around the skill level and craftsmanship needed to build something like this. It's just mind boggling. Sorry I see the expression mind boggling used below but I cant describe it better. It's a work of art. Completely blown away by this lol
Michael, I understand what you want to express. I think that many modelers could build models on a high level, but for the last 40 years they were indoctrinated into being kit assemblers and not craftsmen. Thank you for watching.
Since I want to observe the details, I freeze the video here and there, so it takes about an hour to watch one video. It feels unbelievable that all the ultra-precision parts are made using only a cutter knife and small pliers. I want aircraft model fans all over the world to see this wonderful world. Missing a video in this series is a loss for you! I enjoy this series every day. I would like to send many compliments to "Rojas Bazán".
Hello, sir. Thank you again for your nice comments. Unfortunately most aircraft model fans have been conditioned by the plastic kit industry. It's a very long topic to debate and I have countless anecdotes about that.
Looks simply stunning. Lovely 👌
Thank you, Basil.
The level of detail and painstaking craftsmanship is absolutely staggering.
Thank you, Gary.
Ok, I understand that you probably don't have a wife standing nervously behind your back, asking "are you done yet?" like I sadly do.
But still, HOW ON EARTH did you manage to build THIS MANY models with THIS LEVEL OF DETAIL??????
I can imagine a truly gifted modeller making up to 1 maybe 2 models like yours in a lifetime.
How do you do it?
I am amazed by your skill sir!!
Most repeated comment on this channel: You are the best model maker on the planet.
You just are.
Thank you for your amazing work!!
Ctibor, thank you for watching my videos and your time. I have been a professional modeler since 1982 and I have been lucky enough to be able to work in four different countries building aluminum model airplanes for museums and collectors. My old website is messy and I need to update it soon (in some links the titles overlap the photos), but you can still visit it because there is a lot of information there. Of course my wife always supported me because it is my profession. www.rojasbazan.com/press/international-press/index.html
Thank you for the nice comment, sir.
Absolutely incredible, the pinnacle of craftsmanship in every sense of the word
Glenn, I really appreciate your kind comment. Thank you!
The attention to detail, the precision of build, and the knowledge of this aircraft provide a feast for the eyes. BRAVO!
Thank you, Bob!
Fantastic! I could watch scratch building like this for hours👍
Thank you, sir. Maybe you'd get bored, because the construction process is very slow.
@@rojasbazan Just for curiosity: How much days had you spent on this model? Thanks!
@@vmlelectronics Vini, this model took me about 700 days, full time.
@@rojasbazan It's worth each minute, a real masterpiece!!! Thanks!
I've been modeling for 55+ years and love to superdetail and scratchbuild WW1 & WW2 aircraft, but your builds make me seem like an amatuer in comparison. You have become a source for details. Awesome models. They are masterpieces. Thanks for sharing your skills and models.
Thank you very much sir. I have been doing this for many years, too.
Kaum zu glauben, welch präzise Arbeit.
Ein Meisterwerk.
Danke sehr!
If I didn’t see it being done, I’d find it hard to believe it could be done the way it is being done. Modelling at a whole other level. Unbelievable. Can’t wait for part 3.
Thank you, sir. I hope my future tutorial video help to understand the sequences of the construction.
I am speechless, this is art.
I appreciate your comment, sir. Thank you.
This is so far beyond simple model building. Amazing
Thank you, sir.
super impressive work. Hats off to you!
Thank you for the comment, sir.
Simply stunning piece of model engineering
Thank you for the comment, sir.
Absolutely beautiful craftsmanship. These belong in a museum
Thank you, sir. My models are in private collections. Surely in the future many will be donated to museums.
Breathtaking. I’m watching with my mouth open. Your amazing ability to translate technical drawings and photographs into a true scaled model, from scratch, in metal, using handtools... not sure where to start or finish. You are truly an extraordinary human being. Thank you for sharing your craftsmanship 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thank you Boris for the nice comment. That's the first dilemma in scratch construction: Where do I start? I hope to help in my first video tutorial, which I'm going to start from February.
I don't think it's possible to reach a higher level of perfection than this. Sir, you are truly a master.
Sir, I appreciate the kind words.
Just a mind boggling level of detail ...
Thank you, sir.
I've said it before, I'll say it again.........without comparison you are definitely the most talented scratch build artist EVER. Thank you so much for sharing with us all. Watched the zero earlier, what's next and when
Thank you, sir. My next model is a B-24 in 1:20 scale and may be finished in February or March.
Your level of skill and patience is in a class of its own. Truly beautiful sir.
Thank you for the nice comment, Donald.
My first Stuka was the black one cox .049 control line. I loved the detail. Destroyed in the first flight. Reassembled and displayed. Very much enjoyed your build sir. Thanks.
I remember the old Cox; when I was a child I was stunned seeing it hanging in a toy shop. Thank you for watching, James.
i too, had the cox stuka when i was a kid. loved the sliding canopes.. i also had the cox p-39 airacobra, my first gas plane. it had cool, fat rubber tires
This level of detail is not possible, i cant belive my own eyes!
Thank you, sir. With a lot of patience and love for the work it's eventually possible.
I think you have captured more of the original design of this aircraft than anyone! The B1 and B2 were the most elegant I think. Highest honor to you my friend! My favorite airplane design-wise, though it had such a deadly reputation.
Thank you Lee. I chose the B-1 because the models and commercial drawings about this version have a lot of errors. I love the design, too.
Dear Rojasbazan ! I’m absolutely speechless ! Your work is up to a level beyond handcrafting ! For me you can engineer an aircraft in 1/1 scale ! Man your job is absolutely astonishing! Congratulations. I’m gonna follow you because I find your work really inspiring and will for sure help me one day in my modeling projects! Thanks a lot for sharing !
Thank you, sir. I'm glad that my work inspires many modelers. The next step is to make a DVD tutorial to teach my techniques.
rojasbazan that would be absolutely amazing ! Thank you🙏🏻😊
Absolutely brilliant. I sit and watch your videos over and over as the level of detail is beyond belief. Truly amazing work.
Thank you, Tom. It is very satisfying that there are people who enjoy this kind of videos. I do the same, but I look at videos on wooden ships construction.
Mate, my previous comments from your other videos stand--this is workmanship beyond my ability to adequately compliment. I truly believe that you are the best scale modeller in the world. Particularly when everything is scratch built. I have taken the liberty to share this video with my friends on Facebook. I hope it results in an even bigger audience marvelling at your work. Sincere thanks to you for continuing to share your creations with us.... especially the part where you are shaping the panel!
Richard, thank you for share my work. From February I'll dedicate myself to my first DVD tutorial; there I'm going to show all my techniques.
@@rojasbazan Great news! I will certainly be purchasing your DVDs. I really believe your techniques will translate well into full scale panel manufacturing. I hope to be able to use the knowledge gained to share with our volunteers at our local aviation heritage centre. This will hopefully help them to complete restoration work on some of our old aircraft.
Muchas gracias, Jean.
That was amazing.
Thank you, Steve.
These videos are simply breathtaking. Absolutely awe inspiring work.
Thank you. sir.
Once Again Sr Rojas. Fantastic work. Mis bolsillos rebosan de envidia. I'll be eagerly awaiting Pt.3.
Saludos Guillermo!
Muchas gracias por el mensaje, amigo.
Absolutely amazing. This is true craftsmanship. I could imagine I'd only be able to build one model like this in a lifetime. Bravo! 👏
Thank you for the comment, Max.
Guillermo, this just keeps getting better and better.. absolutely masterful work. Wish I could see it in person.
Thank you, Bill. My 1:15 and 1:16 models are in private collections. Surely in the future several of them will be donated to museums. I hope so.
Increible !
Muchas gracias, Hector.
Stunning craftsmanship, as always. Looking forward to part 3.
Thank you, sir.
Unmatched. Redefining master quality.
Thank you, sir.
Your amazing models look better than originals, I had to pause a lot to examine the details, fantastic stuff, world needs more people like you. Peace.. ✌
Thank you, Nejat, you're very kind. I hope you are well. Peace.
Excelente.
Talent at work. Wow. You have gold fingers sir. Hats off. This is top level modeling.
Thank you for the comment, sir.
Incredible! An extraordinary level of model making!
Thank you, sir!
Absolutely amazing - can't quite believe my eyes. Thanks for sharing your updates with us.
Thank you, sir.
Bravo, sir! Truly a work of art by a consummate artist.
Thank you, Peter!
Muchas gracias, Ernesto.
Complimenti, un lavoro spettacolare, bravo.
Grazie mille, Claudio.
Done right! It males me happy to see passion and perfection!
Thank you, Nigel.
Outstanding piece of work, unbelievable detail, well done sir.
Thank you, Brian.
Sir, I dare to say that your work is priceless.
Thank you, sir!
Incredible craftsmanship, your talents are awe inspiring, as also must be your patience.
Thank you for the comment, sir. I have been working as a professional modeller for museums and collectors for many years, that's all.

Magnificent craftsmanship !
Thank you, Mauricio.
INCREDIBLE WORK!!!!! Perfect built - thanks for sharing your work - you have "golden" hands.
Thank you for the comment. sir.
This is amazing. I have honestly never seen this level of detail in a scale model before. I can only compare with simulators but it looks almost real. I've only ever seen one JU-87 in real life (in the German Museum of Technology
in Berlin and it was a wreck).
Suddenly my hobby shop plastic models look like toys, heh.
Thank you for the comment, Zes.
Simply Stunning Craftsmanship.... A true work of art...It is your research and attention to detail that really makes your Models stand out.....2 hand holds or 3...I could have looked at a photo for weeks and not noticed!!! Thanks for sharing and making my model making look very average... LOL....Stay safe Rojas :-))
Hello Shirley boy. Thank you again. Half of this job is to do a professional research.
@@rojasbazan Well your diligence in your your research is admirable :-))
As usual another masterpiece from the master model building!!
Thank you, sir.
Excellent work!
Thank you, sir.
This is a mind boggling level of detail...
Thank you, sir.
Saludos.
Muchas gracias. amigo.
Absolutely amazing never seen anything else like it
Thank you for the comment, Joe.
ditto
rojasbazan Excelente! A contar 40 dias entonces!
I’m silent in awe. What a stunning masterpiece. Any superlative will do you short.
Now if you could only pump out as many, and as fast, as they built originals you would have one hell of a business case. :-)
Wim, in order to copy in limited edition this kind of models, it is necessary to invest a lot of money in tooling and the salary of a team of expert craftsmen. Between 1994 and 2008, I worked for Fine Art Models building several custom one-off models to be copied and manufactured in limited edition by a team of artisans from Eastern Europe. The company only copied three of my models; F4U Corsair, P-51 Mustang and Messerschmitt Bf109G. The big problem was that the prices of the copies were extremely expensive.
@@rojasbazan i understand. I was just kind of wishful thinking on your behalf. Seems you deserve seeing your work monetized in some way that does justice to the effort.
On the other hand, I think you’re probably doing what you love to do most. So in that sense it may not even feel like work.
I’d love to own such a model. Even it was twice the scale and half the detail.
Showed it to my kids. Their heads are still spinning in disbelief.
P-51 and Spitfire are my two most loved models.
Incroyable travail ! Bravo l’artiste ....
Mercy beaucoup, Jean-Claude.
Wow! You're truly gifted sir.
Thank you, Michael.
Nivel DIOS... impresionante!!
Gracias Miguel.
Absolutely superb.
Thank you, Mike.
I enjoyed it a lot while watching your work. This is real art. And very inspiring indeed!
Thank you, sir.
Gracias, maestro.
Muchas gracias, amigo.
Amazing, truly amazing. It’s hard to believe that we are looking at a model and not a real Stuka.
Thank you for the comment, sir.
Simply beautiful.
Thank you, Bernard.
Wow...sowas habe ich noch nie gesehen. Man glaubt das Fluggzeug würde jeden Moment abheben. Eine Meisterleistung
Vielen Dank, Jerry.
Awesome...Without a word, and the constant pleading, ala most You Tubers I have subscribed because of the quality of work...I am looking forward to the next video and future builds...
Thank you, sir.
the detail is so nice!
Thank you, Nozomi.
Muchas gracias, Miguel.
I cannot comprehend how you do it. I know, from what limited sheet metal forming experience I have, that a tiny error of fractions of a degree, or .00001 of a millimeter, in one part- can throw EVERYTHING out. You're working with incredibly complex shapes and structures- with literally millions of individual measurements , angles and curves. How you achieve such precision is completely mind boggling. That's just one aspect that blows my mind. Also- you must have the best behaved cat in the World!
Ronald, I work trying to respect the measurements in millimeters where this is possible (of course it is not always possible). The big problem is when a piece does not fit in the place indicated by a failure of one millimeter or less. It usually happens very often. Here the point is how to "think" the construction process; what goes first and what goes second, and so on. That way each piece has to have its place to fit.
In the Kingfisher video you can see the last photo of my beloved Mishi one day before being sacrificed (he was dying of cancer). He is sleeping on the blueprints. Thank you for the comment.
Unglaublich diese Details. Ein Meisterwerk.
Vielen Dank, der Herr.
Awesome built my friend
Thank you, Juan!

Just... stunning. An over-used word but in this case absolutely true.

Thank you for the support, sir.
This is insane, how does even make the tiny rivets for starters or bend all the aluminum. amazing. Would love to see more.
Charles, I need my time to work on my current model. From February I'll start working on my first DVD tutorial to be able to explain all my techniques for everybody at the same time.
