      *Very important factor!!!*
      For me at least.
      I always buy car according to few main factors like: flat big cargo space for sleeping, AWD, increased ground clearance, comfortable seats.
      My previous car was Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV with outstanding sleeping possibilities.
      Good flat space in Ioniq5 was crucial to purchase the car.
      That is what I did :)

    My favorite EV reviewer, you actually talk about the underlying tech for EV. Whether the batteries have their own independent cooling system or share the same as the passengers in the car matter. One of the biggest causes of battery losing capacity is from running too hot while charging.

  • @903lew
    @903lew 3 роки тому +8

    Björn makes jokes but I have had this discussion with the wife. When we pick up our next car (EV) it will need some sort of V2L-setup. Why? Excursions with the (proper) air frier and an electrical grill. All of a sudden, taking a drive with the family to a lake in the forest is on like donkey kong. Really, this should very much become par for the course.

    I like your content Bjorn fun but nerdy enough for geeks like me. I wondered if you could do a video about the condition of older EVs eg Early leaf Zoe i3 Tesla after many harsh Norwegian winters, it would be Interesting to see how the cars are holding up. I guess it would be fairer to find an example of each that have been used in similar ways and have similar ages/mileages… may be tricky, but I guess you have many Norwegian fans that might oblige? I just thought it would make some great content eg battery health, interior exterior and mechanical condition of the car etc

    If you are charging in AC the car could direclty route with a relay the incoming AC supply to the outlet, doesn't make sense to convert AC -> DC -> AC. So it doesn't make sense to use the OBC to power the outlet. Also when charging in DC you dont'use the OBC for charging, so in DC you could use the OBC. In that way you have alway power in the outlet

    How long does it take, to charge from ~20% to 80%?
    Hyundai advertises it would take 18 minutes with a 350-kW fast charge.
    What is your real-world experience with the charging times?
    The quick charge time is one of the main reasons why I’m interested in this vehicle.
    But from watching your videos, it seems like the batteries get hot and that makes it take longer to charge. I don’t know much about all the electrical terms-and I don’t want to have to learn all that. I just want to plug-n-go. You’re very knowledgeable.
    I couldn’t figure out why it seemed to often take longer to charge the IONIQ 5 when you were charging it.
    It seems like hot batteries would be a constant variable, and that the charge would always take longer.
    I was just surprised that the battery wasn’t charging as fast as it could or should.
    I’m mainly curious
    how fast the vehicle would take to charge if the vehicle had this kind of scenario:
    had 3 people in the vehicle;
    drove to 20% battery;
    Charge up;
    Drive to 20% range and charge again.
    All in the same day.
    I’m trying to figure out if the amount of passengers in the car-obviously reducing the range you could drive-if that would affect the battery from being charged fast.

    12:10 Mr. Bjron, will the power losses on the 400V load be caused by the necessary 600-700V conversion? The reason is that when you do not have to raise the voltage (for example in Ionity) there are no power losses, they are the same in the charger and in the OBD.

      @patrick71994 3 роки тому

      @@bjornnyland I agree, but you can set the infotainment with the seatbelt on. Or just treat it like a reminder.
      I don't like the beeps, but I'm already used to putting on the seatbelt first, then start te car. Annoying at first, but the car gave me good habits.
      I have also a non-electric car. When I don't press the clutch when pressing the start-button, only the infotainment will turn on without the beeps. The beeps are only there when the engine is running and it is ready to go. So I can set the infotainment without it beeping at me. And I save a little bit fuel with it.

    Hej Bjørn tak for dine webinar meget interesante, angående ingen vindues visker på bagrude siger forhandler, man skal bare tænde for el bagrude, så burde det være bedre udsyn, om det er sandt eller falsk vides ikke !!!! MVH Henrik P. Nielsen

    What does the battery inlet temp mean? Seems to be in the 50s while the battery is below 20 still.

      The battery's thermal management system's heat exchange fluid temperature when it passes through the inlet to enter the battery pack is the inlet temperature. So when heating the battery, the inlet temperature will be higher than the battery temperature. When cooling the battery, it's the other way around.

    Ioniq 5 has to be improved in efficiency. There’s just no reason for such a high consumption in this car. An Hyundai can do it… I mean, just look at Kona…. I do not understand it. Bjorn you are a genius using the hairdryer as a pizza heater

      kia ev6 with regen braking cranked up to lv.3(still less aggressive than telsa tho) is almost efficient as telsa
      difference mainly comes from the drag coefficient
      ev6 has 0.24cd meanwhile ioniq5 has 0.28cd which is considerably higher
      so basically ioniq 5 got that unique squary look and lose some efficiency

      This is the least efficient version of the Ionic 5 though.

      You’re comparing apples to oranges. The Kona has only one motor and is a significantly smaller car. The consumption is competitive with all dual motor EVs.
