  • What is the derivative of sin^2 (x)? We know that the derivative of sin x is equal to cos x. To solve the derivative of sin^2 x, we must know that it is actually a composite function, and we apply the chain rule in order to find the derivative of a composite function. We first differentiate the whole term without changing the inner function, and then multiply it by the derivative of the inner function.

Thanks! Yeah, product rule can also be used in this situation as it is the product of (sin x) and (sin x).

I like the way you explain these math problems. Please keep doing it. I know you don't have a lot of subscribers right now but keep working one day you will get a lot more.

I memories that sin^2 equals to 1/2(1-cox2x) and just do it from there

U can do it using product rule too!

Exactly! By using the product rule, it'd be (sin x)(sin x), so we will be getting sin(x)cos(x) + sin(x)cos(x), resulting in 2sin(x)cos(x), and eventually end up with sin(2x)!
