    A bit late, but I've found that tight marking the striker is really only useful when you are able to physically beat him. If he's slower than your CBs a tight mark is extremely effective, but if their striker is faster you lose the step you give to account for his pace. Just like in real life, if you're defending a faster player, you usually give a step or two to allow yourself a chance to recover, at the cost of them being able to receive more often. In your example, Lewa is not the quickest of strikers and tends to be vertically static, aka his movement is in-box movement as opposed to running behind movement. So a tight mark for him is a great idea because you don't want him to get the ball in front of you. But if you come against an Mbappe at striker or something similar with a very quick player, his movement is vertically dynamic and a tight mark will not help very much, because you don't care if he receives the ball in front of you. You care if he receives the ball behind you.
    For inverted wingers/inside forwards, I've never pressed them and it's probably something I will experiment with. However I do show them onto not just their weak foot, but specifically their outside foot. I don't mind if the player is on the left and fairly strong with his left foot and very strong with his right, I don't want him on his right at all because that's his cutting in and shooting foot and I want to deny that, so I use the left foot instruction to show him outside. For true wingers however I almost never give them a foot designation because even if they're very weak on the inside foot I still want to show them wide. And I never instruct to show a true winger onto their stronger outside foot because if they come through and it's just the defender and the winger I don't want to show them onto the strong foot.
    Also for fullbacks, I don't like the idea of showing them onto their weaker foot because that will mean the defender is on the wrong side of them, and with a fullback if you're on the outside of them you're not helping anything. If there's an inverted wing back, sure I'll show them outside, but that's the exception.

      Bro you should be a manager in real life with knowledge and tactical know how like that haha. Yeah I agree with what you're saying, I think I did say in the video that opposition instructions are subjective so there is multiple different ways to do things. The instructions that I use usually work for me but if you've got your own philosophy about them then that's fair enough

    I have seen some videos on Opposition Instructions before but never one that dealt with specific formations and how to handle them. Looking forward to putting these techniques into practice in both my saves. Thanks for the tips.

    Many thanks for this video. It was quite an eye opener for me. It was very well presented and easy to follow and to understand and you are quite right when you say that no one it seems has done a video on this subject that I could find. I have subscribed and look forward to more informative videos in the future.

    I play in English 4th/5th leagues. Tackle hard EVERYONE hahaha, Press almost no one and show wingers on their stronger foot so that they will be free to cross the ball with their 7 crossing while my two giant CBs are waiting for it inside. Someone needs to to make this turtorial for lower leagues. Especially if you have player atributtes masking on where you cannot see most of attributtes and def cannot see any player trait unless you scouted him personally for a month.

    Interesting video. I tend to hard tackle low bravery players but tried this in my last game on low dribbling and agility aand it worked well. I tend to press playmakers and never tight mark fast players with good dribbling as they go around you too easily and draw fouls. I love the approach you used on how to play against different systems, I love to see you do a video on creating chances against different systems

    Set opposition instructions to the assistant if you find doing them one by one too difficult to do yourself. I suggest that managers have an assistant manager with tactical knowledge and player ability of more than 15 if you are CL quality club.

    I used to read an advice (might be an in-game tip) that hard tackling was useful on players with low Bravery and Determination. I rarely used this anyway, but I now know the tip was incorrect. I do use "Show onto weaker foot" a lot.

    I watched the whole vídeo but i suggest You trim the parts with a lot of humms, maybe use a script and edit out. And also add chapters, maybe adding extra graphics to ilustrate your points better or zooms and stuff. It Will take more time but Will make your videos better. With that said thanks for the vídeo, value is what's more important and Will remember these tips when i play

    Great video man. One thing I always bear in mind is when using ‘tight marking’ on fast players. If I’m coming up against, for example Adama Traore, and I know my defenders are considerably slower, I find ‘never tight mark’ is more effective, as if I’ve got a slow defender trying to mark him tightly, Traore is going to spin the defender and get in behind pretty often. Not tightly marking the player means Traore can’t just run past the my defender, and instead has to actually beat the defender with his dribbling or pass the ball off.

    • @LSFOOTIEMANAGER
      @LSFOOTIEMANAGER  Рік тому +1

      That’s a very good point. I notice a lot of the time when I go up against players like that my assistant automatically puts “never tight mark” on them

    Learnt something new with the wingers. However, not putting any tackling instructions will still cause your player to tackle hard if you have "stuck in" as tactling instruction. For players, based on your OI ideas, better use easy tackles on those players with good dribble. This makes your player stay on their feet while tackling reducing the chances of going to ground than not putting any tackling instructions.
    Also based on the games hints and tips, it's suggested to use pressing on the least comfortable of the opposition players. And given there have been games where my ass man saved my ass with the OI, I recon the game is not wrong. Shocking, I know 🤣. What I do is tight mark everyone and no pressing until I find that player. It creates a man marking system especially if you want to press higher up the pitch or have prevent short gk distribution. Although I use this with specific marking schemes though. It's worked well against Man City and I haven't lost or drawn a game against them yet. With a +3 goal difference in matches.
    But I do like your winger pressing scheme. I'd give it a whirl

    • @nerdifymusic7322
      @nerdifymusic7322 Рік тому

      Also your instruction on pressing striker on against a team that sit back depends on the formation. With the new update, AI managers would use the striker as a holdup player to link the ball to on running wide men or midfielders or leave two other players in positions for a quick transition. Pressing increases the number of player closing down a particular player when he receives the ball. It doesnt just use one player this is why it's dangerous with the ME. Marking does the closing down using any player closest to the player. Its like zonal marking using OI marking. What I've observed the AI doing is usually pressing in central midfield areas. The new update has made significant changes to so many things. I didn't even think it was possible. Everything I knew and wanted to share in a video, I have to retest and reidentify

    • @nerdifymusic7322
      @nerdifymusic7322 Рік тому

      Also, you'd have to constantly pay attention to your OI with the way you do them. I played a game recently and their setup before the game changed immediately the game started. The wide men were on opposite sides of their favoured feet and at kick off, they switched position. I saw it happen but I made nothing of it until after the first goal. AI manager are much smarter at these small tricks which is why coming up with a combination of man marking/positional marking and OI marking schemes is preferable like what Arteta is doing with Arsenal IRL. Sorry, I'm in my arsenal phase. Referencing real life football translate fairly well in the game.

      @@oldschool90s18 nah don’t need to. Just remember to press the wingbacks. Also one thing I don’t think I mentioned much in the video is that you also wanna trigger a press against one of the opposing centre backs (if they’re playing with 3 cbs). Preferably the one that is weakest mentally and with the ball at his feet. We’re looking at bad: first touch, dribbling, composure, concentration, decisions etc. Hope this helps

    Don’t always tightmark the striker, when he is much faster than your defenders this could be dangerous. When the st is a false9 your defenders could be drawn out
