No. I have found many superb NAS scotch whiskies but I am fed up with arrogant companies like Maccallan who take a sub par scotch and put on a high price tag and think it's fans will grab it. Many do which is why is continues to happen! People need to stop buying expressions that don't live up to their hype. I respect everyone's individual taste preferences and desires for a certain ABV.
Good take on the current predicament that Macallan finds itself in. Let's not forget the markets being targeted have new distilleries that produce some incredible whiskies and at a much cheaper prices for consumers to enjoy. I believe and it's just an opinion of a small time whisky connoisseur such as myself, the ship has already sailed for Macallan. The bottles are hard to move even at a discounted prices which are still double and triple from where they were just 4-5 years ago. I wish Macallan good luck.
Yup I wouldn't ever pay $289 Canadian for this Maccallan. I have had a bottle when it was less but it wasn't worth it even at a cheaper price. It was not a terrific Maccallan by any stretch. I have found some amazing NAS whiskes and I have been extremely happy with those bottles purchased but I am cautious and do my research! Usually I give Maccallan a pass because I have had too many disappointments and I don't get samples so I am buying bottles. There are honestly great NAS whiskies and some people do not mind lower ABV expressions - they don't like cask strength for example. We have to realize lower ABV whiskies can also be amazing and delicious for many people and it doesn't mean it's a poor quality expression. People have different tastes with whisky. I would say most people I know who are highly knowledgeable about scotch don't dive in at 56% and up - even a bit less. The 46-48% ABV range is popular for many people. It's all individual. Scotch can get snobby! Let's face it - Maccallan is arrogant and thinks it's fans will pay these prices. I won't! My rule of thumb is that when I find a distillery/company that promotes itself in an arrogant way or being better than others I tend to get turned off. The irony is how often Maccallan's expressions seem to disappoint. They aren't as wonderful as they perceive themselves. Great video! Cheers!

I have never had a Macallan, and I can promise you I never will buy anything from that distillery as long as they charge those prices for 40-43% chill filtered bling bottles. There is so many great whiskies out there with much better specs for much less money…
@@WhiskyLoversSocietygotta be a little to make it funny. And also push back on their constant rich people marketing they do. They want to make it seem if you've "made it" in life, you drink macallan. BTW, accepting free macallan 25 or older bottles, just send them over my way :) The rest of the line, at this point if it isn't a vintage bottle from the past. I just don't honestly have any interest. The 18's today aren't even as good as they used to be and is now priced over 400 USD.
You're either very rich and get to buy the high end Macallans, or you stay away from it because anything close to affordable is trash for the price, You can ALWAYS find something better at half the price or less. Macallan is done.
I've never been a Macallan fan. Everyone is not buying there products over there prices. Bottles of disappointments No wonder they're on the shelves with lots of dust on them

I have only found 1 bottle of macallan that i liked. Classic cut 2017 is very good but the price is to high. To bad really.

Totally agree. I was a big fan, but cannot support the price model anymore. Good thing that I can get a sample before committing to a full bottle.
