    Quick note: Alvin Kamara needs just over 200 rushing yards to overtake Deuce McAllister's second-place spot in franchise rushing yards. 671 to overtake the top spot with Mark Ingram. I misspoke and said that he needed around 200 yards to overtake Ingram! Either way though, 2024 should be the year Kamara takes the crown.

      Overtaking Deuce should have an asterisk. Deuce had 16 carries his rookie year. He was injured much of 2005, and 2007. This means deuce put up those numbers rushing in basically 5 seasons. Also, deuce had multiple 1000 yard seasons. Ak is kinda overrated as a pure rusher tbh. Alvin has had 7 seasons, and this will be his eighth.

    I think Alvin's career shows how important the OC is. Most teams try to build around mediocre coaches and qbs. But with a great coach and qb, every single player on the field can find their highest potential. I get it though, there are politics, personal relationships, safeguarding jobs, and fear that go into making unfortunate decisions to hang on to a core that isn't it. AK is amazing, he pops in every highlight reel. He will likely bounce back big this year. But he really is lucky to have landed with Sean Payton. Without him, Alvin could have wandered in obscurity for his entire NFL career.

      This is where some of my fellow Saints fans lose me. If I say Carr needs a decent line and OC, it's just "excuses." Even though the time he had those, he was an MVP candidate, top 10 in the red zone, and took a bad defense to the playoffs. Yet, then we have comments like yours saying Kamara needs a great coach and QB. Are those not excuses, as well? 🤷🏿‍♂️
      I am not here to bash on Kamara. He is an excellent back and at his best, is easily top 10. Unfortunately, he hasn't had that kind of production, and his suspension last year and possible hold out this year has not helped the team. Josh Jacobs was a premier back with Carr as QB. He led the league in yards, while Carr had Davante Adams leading the league in touchdowns. Then, last year without Carr, Jacobs had half the yards and half the touchdowns. He played 4 fewer games, but even his yards per carry went from 4.9 to 3.5.
      At the end of the day, well-built tes win games, go to the playoffs, and win championships. I'm not Team Allen by any stretch, but he did take over from a coach who were loyal to him, and there has been obvious resistance. This year, we're seeing less Sean Payton on this team than ever before, so maybe DA will have his year. Payton had 1 winning season in his 1st three seasons. Belichick had his 1st winning season 4 years in. Dennis Allen got his after 5 seasons. The team Sean took over, and the team DA took over are vastly different. Now, I'm not saying DA is even close to their level, but with Kubiak, we could see the beginning of a new era.

      @@dl9232 I think that the perfect circumstances for Derek Carr don't exist. He always seems to need something the change for him to get there. Alvin simply needed Sean Payton. Carr needs, what, a different head coach, a different OC, a different line, more time, whatever. He wouldnt succeed with Payton , or any other coach, imo. There are intangible elements to the game, especially at the QB position, and Carr supporters always seems to not realize that. Winners have 'it', and the rest usually don't. I think Carr is a really good person, but I don't think fate is on his side with winning a championship in the NFL. He's too lukewarm when it comes to those little things that make all the difference, like clutch play

    • @dl9232
      @dl9232 9 днів тому +1

      @lewistangi8004 Look at most of the great quarterbacks that had sustained success. What did they have? Typically, very good offensive lines, good to great defenses, and good to great coaches. If they had those things consistently, success followed. Very few quarterbacks transcend those 3 elements, and if they do, it's rarely for more than a year. This mystical "it" factor always seems to coincide with at least 2 of those 3 elements.
      Drew Brees is easily one of the greatest quarterbacks to throw the ball. Yet, he only had 1 Super Bowl victory. Why is that? Is his "it" factor not great enough? He had the same future Hall of Fame coach for 15 years straight. So what prevented him from winning more? Could it possibly be that even HE needs more than just a very good head coach? He had fewer winning seasons than Carr when he had defenses ranked 20th or worse, and he had better coaching. Again, Brees is a far better quarterback, so why didn't the superior coaching and his "it" factor help him overcome those deficiencies? Again, it's the logical inconsistencies and reliance on mystical "it" factors that a part of our fan base uses to discredit our quarterback while giving leniency to other players.

      @@dl9232 I hear you and respectfully disagree. I'm tired of trying to solve the Carr puzzle. Maybe he can be great somewhere, someday. We're all entitled to our opinions at Saints nation. I think it's fair to say that the mystical 'it' factor is akin to simply going with your gut when you judge or analyze a player. My gut says, Carr is not it. That's all I'm saying.

    • @dl9232
      @dl9232 9 днів тому +1

      @lewistangi8004 you are certainly entitled to your opinion. The puzzle isn't a difficult one, though. Look at Mayfield. He's on his 4th team in 4 years, and boom, he got a big contract, and everybody loves him. Of course, it helps that he had a good coach, a good offensive line, 2 receivers who put up consistent 1,000-yard seasons no matter who the quarterback is, a running back who was 10 yards shy of 1,000 yards, and the 7th-ranked defense. So, he's on a better team, had the same record as the Saints, and their fans and a lot of ours view him entirely differently. All quarterbacks need a minimum, and Carr has been dealt much less than almost any successful quarterback, but takes the blame for that.

    Kendre miller is a Young Kamara. He is going to be good if they let him play.. Also I say they blend in Kamara and kendre together . Use Jamal Williams on short yardage and goal line. They will kill the running game.

      That's likely what they'll do. The big thing will be Kendre adjusting to the zone run game, which wasn't TCU's bread and butter when he was there. But he's looked good in minicamps and OTAs and all that!

    The only reason they won’t give Kamara the deal is because he was critical of DA and Loomis last year. I think they are going to find out real quick that he is the only RB on the team that’s going to make them better. Fall off ? He was like Graham and Taysom last year. Wasn’t used correctly. I put that on DA. He was head coach. Better offer him a deal or I’m sure Payton in Denver would.
