    Time for an unboxing video of my new HEXCLAD pans. There is a big Black Friday sale going on and since I wanted new pans, I pulled the trigger and bought some. This is not an in-depth review but I do point out the features, show you how to season the pans, and cook a fried egg to test out how nonstick the pans are. #hexclad #unboxingvideo #unboxing

    I have had the same set of skillets and the wok for many months. I use 1 or more daily on a gas range/ oven and have never been disappointed with the results. Cleaning is a breeze and they still look brand new. Noticed that a lot of European chefs on UA-cam were using the brand even before they were offered in US. Enjoy your new skillets, I have!

      Awesome!! Glad to hear that you have had them for a long time and use them daily. I will definitely enjoy them! It is too bad it took so long for the brand to reach us here.

    I love to see how excited you get about cookware 😊
    Congratulations on getting this beautiful set of Hexclad pans, Matt 👍
    I would love to see you sear a nice steak (perhaps a ribeye?) in one of these pans, and crepes in the griddle pan.
    Thank you, Matt

    New subscriber. I found out about your UA-cam channel on one of your intstructables for making Nutella fudge. I make my own personal pan pizzas in the oven with homemade dough and use 10 inch non-stick pans for that. The Hexclad griddle pan looks like it would work well for that.

    Hey Matt! 'Sotto Voce' your hair is on upside down. Seriously tho, the new look really suits you, and I'm not just saying this, but it makes you look very young, and er... very intellectual. OK, onto the pans; the plus for me is that one can use metal tools on them, and, altho I would never do it, they can apparently be put into the dishwasher. I make it a point never to put my fry pans in the dishwasher, and it would be the same when I buy these; I do however, put my stainless steel saucepans in the dishwasher. Oh yes, you sold these pans to me; I'm gonna get them, but I won't be paying for them since I'm gonna put them on my christmas list, lol. I guarantee they will be under the christmas tree come Dec 25 courtesy of one uncle or another. mhm. It's good to be an only child with a very large extended family. Sweet. Thanks for the xmas list suggestion. :)

      Hi Lauren! haha thank you, I am definitely keeping the beard through the holidays then reevaluating in the new year. It is definitely "growing on me" lol. I am not going to put them in the dishwasher either. I learned a long time ago to hand wash my pans and knives haha. Plus I rarely use my dishwasher anyway since I am buy myself. Christmas is the way to go! haha :) And you are very welcome!

    I still don’t get the value prospect of these pans. They are a hybrid of teflon and stainless steel. The teflon will degrade over time as all teflon does. If it’s high quality, it may last 3-5 years. For the price, instead of hexclad pans that are made in China, you could get carbon steel or cast iron pans that will last for a lifetime for cheaper that are made in the US or Europe. Or if you don’t like seasoning, you could just get regular teflon for so much cheaper that will last three years or more. If you have concerns over forever chemicals, these pans don’t help because they are still teflon. True, it’s not the old version where there were health concerns, but nobody uses that old version anymore in products sold in the US. All modern teflon pans are as “non-toxic “ as hexclad.

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt
      @inthekitchenwithmatt  10 місяців тому

      They have a lifetime warranty, so if/and when that happens they can be replaced for free. Regular teflon will not go in the oven and you can't use metal on them. Cast iron doesn't go in the dishwasher. The selling point they are trying to make is they have 5 or 6 options all in one pan. And cast iron pans are much heavier. So there are lots of benefits as to why someone might want to own them. But if cost is an issue, these pans are definitely not the pans for that person. On sale at around 100 bucks these pans are great. To buy a good cast iron, plus a good teflon, plus a good stainless steel you have 3 pans combined will be around 100 bucks give or take 15 bucks. But then you have 3 pans! I know I have all kinds of pans and am finally getting rid of a lot of them because I now have these. So that is another selling point for people, to reduce the number of pans you have. But it may not be a selling point for some people.

    • @shigemorif1066
      @shigemorif1066 10 місяців тому +1

      @@inthekitchenwithmatt yes, but the lifetime warranty covers manufacturing defects, not normal wear and tear so it likely wouldn’t cover normal teflon degradation. A lot of teflon can go into the oven and dishwasher these days. Oxo’s teflon can go up to 500F in the oven amd go into the dishwasher. True, you shouldn’t use metal, but I don’t think a lot of people use metal these days unless you are using cast iron or carbon steel. Oxo is probably lighter too and much cheaper (I’m mentioning oxo because they won ATK’s comparison). In any case, I enjoyed the review!

      @inthekitchenwithmatt  10 місяців тому +4

      Did you actually buy them? Did you even watch my video? I know someone who has been using them pretty much every day for 3 years and still works amazing. I have a very hard time believing they are crp, sorry, if they were they wouldn't be in business and everyone would be returning them, and no way Gordon Ramsay would rep them. And someone already commented on this video how good they are. But since I actually do own them I will be the judge, haha. Not to mention the extremely high ratings on Amazon. 4.7 out of 5 with over 6000 ratings is pretty darn good.

    Means nothing.... ALL non stick pans work great the first times they are used.
    Do the same tests 2 years down the line.

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt
      @inthekitchenwithmatt  10 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for the comment! That is only one of the benefits of the pan. That is the whole selling point for these with their "hybrid" approach (stainless steel, nonstick, and cast iron all in one) With that said, I obviously haven't owned them that long (a few days!). But I know someone who has had them for over 3 years with near-daily use and still work great. This wasn't meant to be an in-depth review as mentioned in the video. It is just an unboxing, talking about the features, and one test. I even said at the end that I need time to use it before I can do a proper review.
