On my 65th birthday and the first day of retirement, I met John Conlee in Hendersonville TN (Nov 2018). We were the only customers in the store. As I walked towards him I kept thinking "I know this man!" Getting closer we exchanged greetings as men our age do. I kept shopping and trying to place his face. Then it dawned on me, "John Conlee, saw him in concert Omaha in the 80's". As I turned the corner to get cat food there he was looking at me. "You know," I said, "you sure look like John Conlee". Well, he looked down, up, and then at me and smiled "That's because I am John Conlee". I'm not the crazy fan type. I told him how much I loved his music, and he said thank you and we shook hands. No autograph or selfie, and I think he appreciated that I recognized him and didn't want all the hoopla. That made my birthday and retirement so special. He's always been the gentleman. He lives in the area.
I'll always remember picking up my son from his mom's when he was 5 years old. This is one of my all time favorite country songs. It was playing when he got in the car. He's sitting in the back and when the chorus starts. My son begins to sing along. "It's too hot to fish. Too hot for golf and too cold at home" Always brings a smile to my face thinking about that moment. Glad he still listens to this music now that he's 17 and been living with me going on 7 years.
I actually met Mark in Houston a few years back, he was standing right next to me in the boarding line to get on the plane, a really nice fellow, and remarkably shy in person. I told him my little country band played some of his songs at dances and he was so proud.

I still love this as much as the first time I heard it!!! Saw him do this live back in the day , the stage was in the middle of a wrap around dance floor ., I two stepped around the dance floor while he did this song. Nobody does it better than Texas!
@Rachel Hello pretty face, how are you doing today? Thanks for your love support ❤️
One of the best darn country music songs ever put out on radio
One of the rare times a cover is better than the original.... and that being George Jones at that ! what a great job here!
Nothing but Smooth! Like George Strait, Alan Jackson, Randy Travis, Vince Gill, Sara Evans, Leeann Womack, etc. 👍♥️🙏
@@mcraig1968 I didn't know that, I should have heard and probably did. Alan Jackson gave up If I could make a living out of Loving you, to Clay Walker, he said he just didn't think it would be a hit. It did seem to sound better with Clay Walker, but I only heard Alan Jackson do it for a short time. It's a short song. 👍♥️🙏
Mark Chesnutt you are amazing.. Thank you for one of the most amazing country songs ever..! Pasty Cline would tip her hat and would want to two step with you to this gem..
I'm 64 years old and I remember when that song came out and it still sounds good right now and that's the way it is for me right now
I’m with you brother, going thru the same thing at 64,

❤️Thanks for your love and support that has brought me this far, it has been a hard time for me going through this but your love and support keeps me going and standing strong in these difficult times. I do read your heartwarming comments and I truly appreciate all you've done for me throughout the years. It's a season of love for me and so I decided to put a smile on the faces of my fans by going through my UA-cam channel and checking out on my fans, so I can get to communicate with my fans better through discussion of depth and humor listening to compliments and criticism of my career💓💓💕

Where is this at, Charles?
Near Port Arthur, about a few miles west of Nederland Highway
Okay thank you. I see that Mark is from Beaumont near there. Yes, I remember this was Mark's very first released (and) charting single. It will always be a favorite. I love his music. That is so cool the video was recorded where you have great memories.. :-]

Like George Jones said, who's gonna fill their shoes?
i miss country music like this, it makes me sad because i know its gone forever, no more good songs like this..
***** Not bad, too bad he'll never make it to mainstream country radio. So many people have ruined the industry.
Music goes in cycles and this type will cycle back around :)
Deena Wilson Well it's still out there, the radio just doesn't play it. That's why I've given up on the radio.
Quadcopter Crazy not true. ever heard of codi jinks?
There is, but it's just not played on mainstream radio markets. Check out some Jason Eady for starters.
One of the last of the Traditional Country Music Artists. I love this kind of Country Music! Excellent Artist and Song!

Heard him sing this at my local fair and I was blown away how good mark sounds live, sounds better than the cd and I was singing every single song till the end…a night to remember for sure.
. . . not everything America does is something to be proud of - but for sure there is something America can be proud of: you can be proud of the countlessly beautifully voices of your singers - particulary in your country music! It´s unbelievable! Thank you and greetings from Germany . . .
Damn, not everything Germany does is something to be proud of either. Especially between the years of 1929-1945.
. . . yes - no doubt! How many hundred years shall we look back? I am talking about the present! And in present almost everything America does is wrong!
Reminds me of my past
Manfred Sommer
Mind your own business shithead
Manfred Sommer So mind your own Business and don't worry about America.

My dad and Mark grew up together, I remember all the times I got to hangout at his house and sit around and play guitar. When I say his music is what I believe pure country music is supposed to sound like, it's not me being biased. Thanks for all the great music Mark, wish we had more of it these days!
Kyle Gallier.
I am lost for words.
What am amazing song as he tells his story ❤❤
@Lucian Hello pretty face, how are you doing today? Thanks for your love support ❤️
Just seeing the mobile home makes me feel at home, none of that Nashville music video crap with 100,000 dollar trucks and mansions.. this song brings a tear to my eye
No steel guitar, no fiddle, no country music. Now a days they call it country rock, I call it country crap. Miss the old days when a song could make you feel the way you should feel. Beers an tears.
09jitters for sure
09jitters I'm with you its not even good enough to be called country but crap is a dam good word
Remove
Yep, this is how country should be!
this stuff today is actually being called Hick Hop..sucks the good stuff is gone, and these stations wont play the good stuff...they are worried about ratings i guess
Definitely a go to song to remember how real country was and I wish still was!
Underrated is an understatement! I’ve been to lots of concerts, from the Stones, the Eagles, boring Alan Jackson. Mark Chesnutt’s concert was hands down THE BEST concert I’ve ever attended. Amazing entertainer, songwriter, singer! We love you Mark!
This is probably one of my favorite country songs period! The first part of this song gives me goosebumps.
Thanks for supporting my music 🎶 I’m so grateful 😘and I hope you never stop being a fan, I would like to honour you by giving you my personal information if that’s ok by you.❤️❤️
I’m gonna put my boat in @ the PTL and have chicken-fried steak when we come out. Maybe shoot a game of pool with my dad. Isn’t that Texas?

When he hits that part, “It’s so easyyyyy not to care, bout what’s right and what’s wrong…” pure gold. I was so amazed to to hear him singing this live at Billy Bob’s I’m Fort Worth in 2014. It came out when I was about 17 years old but it hits you different when you’re older. Love Mark Chesnut!!!!

We didn't know how good we had it back then when it came to country music, now we have to live with Florida Georgia Line, you can't even call it real country compared to guys like Mark.
Josh G Not even close.
New “country” sucks. I can’t even listen to it. It all sounds the same. Now they’re calling “old town road” country. 🤦🏻♂️
