What I love about this is the ensemble members are singing because Chorus Line is about a group of nobodies auditioning for a nobody role as an ensemble member, and despite this, each character is developed, they all tell their story, and are given their own spotlight. Everyone matters. So it's perfect and relevant that the ensemble members are being given their spotlight here to reflect Chorus Line.
If you haven't read the book "What They Did for Love: The Untold Story Behind the Making of A Chorus Line", you should grab a copy. The characters were developed so well because they were based on real people in actual chorus lines. Dancers were interviewed and from there the play was conceived.
Wow! One of the most iconic Broadway songs of the past half century, performed by the most iconic Broadway cast of the past half century…..life doesn’t get much better than this, kids!
Seeing A Chorus Line on Broadway with original cast and...then in Toronto. Buffalo. L.A. and once more in N.York AND back in home town of Buffalo I was waiting to see if they could pull off that crescendo blend at end and they absolutely did. Now you all can probably guess my age. Ballpark.
They mixed a bit of Hamilton in that one part on 1:24 and I died from it this cast and the play in general always find a way to give me that heart rising feeling
I love this song. We all had an awful week with the passing of Kobe, his daughter, and all the victims. Kobe loved his family and all of us. He will be missed.
Kiss today goodbye The sweetness and the sorrow Wish me luck, the same to you But I can't regret What I did for love, what I did for love Look, my eyes are dry The gift was ours to borrow It's as if we always knew And I won't forget what I did for love What I did for love Gone Love is never gone As we travel on Love's what we'll remember Kiss today goodbye And point me toward tomorrow We did what we had to do Won't forget, can't regret What I did for love What I did for love What I did for love And I won't forget What I did for love Gone Love is never gone As we travel on Love's what we'll remember Kiss today goodbye And point me toward tomorrow We did what we had to do Won't forget, can't regret What I did for love What I did for love What I did for love What I did for love
Never saw Hamilton, but, bravo to the cast for performing one of the best songs from the theater eloquently, respectively, and with love and compassion
It's amazing to have this many good actors and actresses and one play I hope they do something else together as a cast it'll probably be as good as it gets that's what I'm saying here good as it gets
I love this song, but I think many people unfamiliar with the musical may think it’s about a romantic relationship. In truth, it’s about dedication to your art, your craft, your work, your career. Near the end of “A Chorus Line,” one of the dancers suffers a potentially career-ending injury. The remaining dancers are asked what they would do if they could no longer dance, and this song is their response. It’s about love and dedication toward their art, with the understanding that there’s no guarantee that years of hard work and sacrifice will “pay off” in the end. But you do it anyway to grow and share, for love of the work. Sadly, I think this message has increasingly gone out of fashion with many people today, who view any “work” as a burden to be avoided rather than as an opportunity to grow personally, express yourself, leave a legacy and enrich the world around you.
Beautifully said. For me, there is additional poignancy that "the end" can come suddenly at any time, as that person's injury reminds the other dancers. Yet they still want this career for as long as they can have it, because they are doing what they have to do. And when the end comes, "point me to tomorrow", and "I won't regret what I did for love."
Wow . I will admit, it was not possible for me to keep a dry eye watching and listening to this, for many reasons, some on the deep side. Bravo Hamilton cast, beautifully done by one and all, thank you so much.
I’ve noticed that all of my fandoms have had links to my past in a way. I sang this song for my school when I was in, god, 4th grade? And now, years later, in the Hamilton fandom, they did this. I might just be seeing things that aren’t really there, but I think it’s kinda cool. :)
One of the greatest musicals of all time paying tribute to one of the greatest musicals of all time. Now all we need is the cast of Book of Mormon singing Jesus Christ Superstar and the cast of Phantom of the Opera singing You Will Be Found

One thing is for sure:
I would not be able to sing if Lin, Leslie, and Jonathon were watching me like that
That's why you're not up there.
I would just freeze up and run
@@timsimms2034 People like you are so pathetic.
Tim Simms try to focus on the song and enjoy the experience. They are supporting each other.
i would probably keel over in fear✨
the way the cast looks at them is just so sweet
Get someone who looks at you like Pippa looks at Sasha
U
Or Thayne at Carleigh
Or Groff at literally anyone
THE WAY THAYNE LOOKS AT CARLEIGH THO!!!!!
I'm so happy I'm not the only person who noticed that.
all I want is to find a guy who looks at me like that lol
They are holding hands in the end. When u look closer at 3:11 you can see it nicely.
I am Jon Groff digging Betsy's performance...
I like that they let all the Ensemble people sing
If someone could not sing, they might not have a mike or they just sang softly.
And now one of that ensemble is an Oscar winner and a Tonys host, of course.
I love Groffsauce's expression when Betsy sings:-)
Thayne's little smile at the beginning!! Awe! He is too cute!! I want to give him a hug!!
can yOU IMAGINE SINGING WITH LESLIE AND LIN NEXT TO YOU LOOKING AT YOU LIKE THAT
and Priscilla Lopez is standing off stage
Yes I would just sing
"like" doesn't seem adequate. Such a beautiful rendition of a truly marvelous song.
The way pippa looks at Sasha is all I Need in my life
Just having Lin and Leslie staring at me while I sing...I would've died!
i'm obsessed.
+Marley Green totally perfect
We sang this to my retiring directer now every time I hear this I cry.
Pippa is so happy that it makes me happy
1:35 i would actually melt
I am 57and I loved that song when I was in High School. I was in theatre and mostly those in that group liked and loved it too.

7 people were half asleep when they watched this and accidentally hit the dislike button
Ella Huestis no their eyes were with tears since this was beautiful
That, or they had ears for intonation.

I like that they had several different people singing this. Wish they would do that in all the productions ❤️
7 people dislike this

it's beautiful and emotional
Eliza Schuyler Hamilton some people think that musicals are for wimps
They mixed a bit of Hamilton in that one part on 1:24 and I died from it this cast and the play in general always find a way to give me that heart rising feeling

Betsy is so pretty and so good I can't!..
Thank you for singing this song. It was my father's favorite.....
Wow! Real singing with no Auto-tune. Oh, Broadway musicals, why did I ever abandon you???
a touching tribute to one of my favorite Broadway shows
Absolutely heartwarming! All of their voices together joins as one in the end and it's just beautiful. :)
I love this song. We all had an awful week with the passing of Kobe, his daughter, and all the victims. Kobe loved his family and all of us. He will be missed.
One of my favorite songs sung by one of my favorite casts...
What have I done to deserve such blessings
1:22 EVERYBODY SING WHOA WHOA WHOOOAAH
WOOAAAHH WOOAAHH I LOVE HERRRRRVGFDDVJFSGHFS
Kiss today goodbye
The sweetness and the sorrow
Wish me luck, the same to you
But I can't regret
What I did for love, what I did for love
Look, my eyes are dry
The gift was ours to borrow
It's as if we always knew
And I won't forget what I did for love
What I did for love
Gone
Love is never gone
As we travel on
Love's what we'll remember
Kiss today goodbye
And point me toward tomorrow
We did what we had to do
Won't forget, can't regret
What I did for love
What I did for love
What I did for love
And I won't forget
What I did for love
Gone
Love is never gone
As we travel on
Love's what we'll remember
Kiss today goodbye
And point me toward tomorrow
We did what we had to do
Won't forget, can't regret
What I did for love
What I did for love
What I did for love
What I did for love

Oh, my gosh. I love your comment. Yes. You conveyed beautifully the true meaning. I'm teary-eyed by your writing. Thank you so much.❤

I’ve noticed that all of my fandoms have had links to my past in a way. I sang this song for my school when I was in, god, 4th grade? And now, years later, in the Hamilton fandom, they did this. I might just be seeing things that aren’t really there, but I think it’s kinda cool. :)

OMG SAME SHE IS BEAUTIFUL AND TALENTED AND BEAUTIFUL AND TALENTED AND I AM SO EXCITED SHE IS SO UNDERRATED AND I FOUND SOMEONE ELSE IN LOVE WITH HER
Why did they do this? Was it when Marvin Hamlisch passed? Why the salute....which was lovely, by the way!
they did it for the 40th anniversary of a chorus line
Passed? Do you mean died?
2:40 Philippa’s glance at Sasha... I kinda ship it...
Costumes 😍
Is that Thayne Jesperson from So You Think You Can Dance at the very right?
yes
It is! He's in the ensemble most of the show, but during the song "Farmer Refuted" he plays Seabury.
But now HE IS JOHN LAURENS IN THE PLACE TO BE
Fandom Domination what?!
He's STILL in Hamilton!
Adorei
Ariana Debose's grace note on "Love" at 1:04 just killed me.
The 41 people who disliked this were drunk
😍😍😍😍
one thing for sure i could never afford to see this in real life
What I did -for love- to be where Betsy is standing
