LANJIA LODGE - Welcome to Lanjia Lodge, an eco friendly lodge, run and supporting a number of local Hill Tribe communities. I was excited to stay here for many reasons - the natural beauty of the mountains and views, the natural feel of everything, and how when you stay here, you’re directly supporting the community. So in this video, I’ll be giving you a full tour of our cottage, so you can know what to expect when you stay at Lanjia Lodge! #ChiangRai #Thailand #LanjiaLodge
First of all, one of the greatest things about Lanjia Lodge is that it’s integrated into the community. There are both Hmong and Lahu people within the village, and staying at Lanjia Lodge is an opportunity to learn about both of these peoples. In fact, a stay includes a walking tour of the village, plus a visit to the traditional shaman of the village.
Additionally, it’s an all inclusive stay, so the price includes accommodation, dinner and breakfast, cultural musical performance at night, and a walking tour.
Price - We paid about 5,000 THB ($163.34) per night for 3 of us, and again it’s all inclusive, while directly supporting the community in an ethical way.
In addition to learning about the Hmong and Lahu, Lanjia Lodge is just one of the most relaxing, chilled out places. We loved our stay, and great for family and kids.

Oh my gosh!! Mark, a HUUUUGE "THANK YOU" to you for supporting our Hmong community by doing this review! I am lost for words how our Hmong community in Thailand have developed. It is unfortunate that when I visited in 2003, I was told not to say that I am Hmong because Thai people look down upon us since we are immigrants and/or refugees. Thus, many Hmong people changed their names to Thai to hide their identity. This video and the last 3 have shine light into our the Hmong people in Chiang Rai and we are just so appreciative of you!! THANK YOU! THank YOU!! Will definitely visit Lanjia Lodge when we can travel again!

Very nice to see simplistic life with nature, good foods and peace. Great price. I can see why you moved out of USA and gave up teaching. You teach us about history of places you visit and before covid other foreign places, as well as teach us foods. Life doesn’t have to be a 3 million $. NYC or Cali condo life with all the things that we attach ourselves to. This life you have is peaceful and simple and healthy diet. As we all once came from.My son like ppl to take shoes off as germs and dirt goes thru the house if you think about it. Japan has been doing this for centuries. As always for years I've enjoyed your videos. This one happens to be in the province where I live and work. I hike and document hilltribe villages in the mountains of Chiang Rai. I noticed considerable deforestation near your cottage during your drone shots. Air pollution is another problem. I teach these challenging issues in Social Studies classes at the #1 academic school in CR. We need to raise awareness and solutions.

From Nov-Feb is the best time to visit northern Thailand. I love to stay overnight on the mountains viewing sunset with beer and sunrise with coffee. Life of hill tribes in Thailand improves substantially with this eco tourism.

Hello Mark! If you still in Chiang Rai, I would recommend you to try Larb Bo Thong (ลาบบ่อทอง). This restaurant is located between Mae Fah Luang University and Mae chan checkpoint, on Phahonyothin Road, opposite Bang Chak gas station. Around 11 am should be the best time, not too crowded.
Some of your best work yet. Although I love the locals and details you incorporate I think I am more impressed with your editing and light direction skills. I really do enjoy every one of your videos.
