Great job as usual. I don’t really like using french cleats because if we lose gravity, the cabinet will separate from the cleat and float to the ceiling.
Locking Pins?
But yes, a potential problem!!!
Hmm... I don't think it would.
Yes, There's no force to hold it together, however, there's also no added force to separate the cleat.
It would stay where it is relative to the cleat unless something pushed it apart, surely...
@@NikolaHoward Newton’s 1st Law of Motion 🤩 aka: Law of Inertia
Nice thinking but I think we're good here the plumbing will hold it it down if we lose gravity
And what other weird thoughts keep you up? I’m curious
Awesome book that gives you step-by-step photos ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxTNB_zFBSnTo_O1PqfVUwgi7ityw0JlKt and directions to make every day project. I can see myself making a few of these projects and giving them as housewarming and holiday gifts!
I just bought 22 bandy clamps because of this video!
GORGEOUS. And because she’ll be the one deciding who’s going to dust and remove soap, toothpaste and dust from each and every groove. I love it! The beautiful piece of furniture, that is!
I had the exact same thought! 😂 Hopefully they have a good vacuum with a great crevice attachment to make it reasonably easy work.
I was watching you sand all those flutes and thought, what a great application for a Festool LS120.
This is actually a great proof of concept for anyone who wants to make something cool-looking but isn't necessarily feeling that artistic/creative spark. Pick something super simple (like in this case literally just a straight line), repeat it a BUNCH of times, and you'll wind up with a pattern that looks like it took heaps of skill, when in fact it really just took a heap of time and patience. If you approach it the right way it can also be an amazing form of meditation/flow, especially once you streamline your workflow and really get in the groove (heh).
Kumiko is another perfect example - instead of creating 1x Art all at once, you can use a simple jig to make 2000x Little Bits of Wood one at a time, and then assemble them into something greater than the sum of its parts.
I like the look as a whole, but I would'a definitely gone with cutting the drawer fronts either in the grooves or left a gap in the grooves to make the high parts wider where you wanted to split them. End result is fine, but when it gets that thin, the slight inaccuracies and grain shifts are really really noticeable.
Agreed.
Absolutely awesome and exactly the look I'm after for my own built-in vanity. Only thing I'd change: have the horizontal drawer reveals located not on the hills but in the valley of the flutes, for an even cleaner look. I'm in love with those Blum Movento slides. Hint for the furniture hackers out there: Ikea uses exactly those Movento Tip-Ons for their Exceptionell slides in the Method carcasses.
I thought this same thing as well. And if one were really ambitious, they could add some kind of vertical lines to hide the vertical seams. Now I'm thinking about doing something similar but with smaller flutes (or even simple grooves) where every reveal is hidden.
Fluted panels..... (Charlie Brown mode) AAARRRRGGGGHHHH!
Looks fantastic. 😁
fantastic mobile, technically perfect, and a remarkable video, I watched it from beginning to end without being able to turn it off, thank you for sharing this wonderful moment
One way I've found to speed up the flute sanding is to buy a dowel rod that fits the flute and wrap it with sandpaper. Even if you just make the rod about 6 inches this saves a load of time.
Good idea 👍🏼
As a plumber, I approve this vanity. Well done sir!
Beautiful build!!
(wife may end up regetting the fluted finish when she goes to clean this cabinet)
she'll simply delegate this task...
I love it. I kinda wish the drawer divisions were in the "flute" so they would vanish in the shadow line, but otherwise, it's pretty cool.
absolutely love this one. the added texture will give a stunning element of dimension that was well worth the tediousness of the build. you'll have to let us see the completed bathroom. outstanding job to the wife on the design
A big pat on the back for you. Congratulations on a project well done. I really enjoy watching your videos and I can't wait for the video of your wife telling you she wants a matching medicine cabinet and an above toilet cabinet.
GREAT POINT!!
Lol
You got to be hating Jason hahaha.
Nice work, as usual of course. I think it would be great if you did a video on a cocktail smoker. You loving bourbon and making a smoker for your drink. Sound awesome? I would really love to see your take on the smoker.
Just wanna say, I happened across your channel a couple of months ago as I was getting ready to get more into making my own shop, and you are by far my favorite wood working channel! Great projects and very entertaining! And I’m a big bourbon fan myself haha
Wow! Beautiful! Thanks for this one brother! Enjoy Blighty mate! If you get a chance go visit my hometown of Liverpool, its a great city and a beautiful part of the country. Cheers.
Hahahahahaha yes! you do hate sanding wood I love the vanity and the way it's operated beautiful thanks for sharing.
Can't wait to see the completely finished Bath.
Given all the forethought and attention to detail required to turn that design into a masterpiece with all those flutes and the matchey-matchey required: being two slides short is merely a 'shoulder shrug and a sigh' event. Beautiful work! I'm laughing at how much weight all that hardware added to the simple drawer design.
Looks good. Could be a pain in the ass to clean all those grooves.
Good point on drawer face screw placement. When you started routing that slab out I knew those were going to be placed precisely. Dope vanity cab construction and design dude.
This one is really cool. You're my hero. 😉
This is so cool! Although I was hoping you would spray it with varnish, I think it would look great with a gloss finish. But I really like how it turned out
I just installed a bathroom vanity this weekend with my dad! I had ordered it and when we went to take out the drawers to carry it up the stairs, we discovered they have Bloom's under-mount drawer slides! I was like, "I know how these work!" Thanks for showing them off so often!
Have you received your gift yet from him
Love the woodworking and the humor. My step son and I both watch and share ideas from 1300 miles apart. Thanks for some really great and some mostly great😅videos
Watching this as I get ready for work. Looking forward to the completion of the tree house!
It’s going to look great in the treehouse bathroom
Great job! I like the fluted accents!
Hola!🖐That is an amazing looking cabinet. I'm sure it's hard to fully appreciate how much work and effort you had to put into this one by just watching this video BUT the end result certainly shows it. 🤩Take care and have a good one, Adios!👊
Super sweet that you work so hard on making your wife happy! Also, if it makes you feel better about all that sanding and staining all those fluted grooves, just remember that your work on those is done, and she's going to have to dust them all weekly...forever. LOL
For some reason your videos are relaxing and the sanding is the best😊
I'm building a cabinet with drawers right now and you make it look so easy, it's such hard work!
That's art Jason. Thanks for sharing.have a great day. Greetings from El Salvador.
Looks great. Will be interested to see how well Rubio holds up in a wet area after a few years.
Another beautiful project Jason! Also the music makes me think of Bond Goldeneye on N64 😂
No need to explain, it absolutely beautiful and obviously unique! Love it
Great looking cabinet and video! Love the attention to detail and your outstanding craftsmanship, simply over the top! Really hope you have a video when you do the install, would really like to see it come to life! Thank you for sharing!!
Outstanding build. You are such a lucky man if you have a wife that will allow you to build her design/dream. It would be great to get her take on the cabinet. Thanks for sharing and tally ho… enjoy your jaunt across the pond. Thanks for sharing!
The best part of the push to open is you don't have any drawer pulls 👍 great lookin unusual build
Measure twice cut once ,
Count 3 times order once 🤣
Looks amazing
Subscribed , liked ... And all that ... Great woodworking projects ... And the narration! : Zappa does woodworking ...
Loving it !!! See you in the next one ... ✌😎
Hi 1st video of yours I've watched. Can't wait to watch some more.
great vid, bro you good af. hands down one of my fav channels as a beginner. 1 day..... hope you get even better. You the man along with many great wood craftsman. You ever thought about your own T.V. channel ? Your the man!!
Well done for getting through that one, I did something similar and the concentration was immense
excellent look
Looking good as always, Jason. The vanity looks good too. All in all, super cool project. Thanks for the content buddy. Shamelessly take my like and view. You can look forward to 4 more views over the next 3 months as I fall asleep to woodworking videos and UA-cam decides I need to see this again.
Jason! SAFETY GLASSES! You almost had a finger problem after a router incident a couple weeks ago, now protect your eye holes! You only get one set, and once they're gone, they're gone!
bro you really got it! dope skills
Great job Jason! I love this take on a bathroom vanity. I think not having visible hardware will look amazing
congratulations friend good job 👍👍👍
You're my favorite creator. Great work
Great build - love the idea to create that acoustic look. White oak rift is the best, but super expensive.
There's ALWAYS sanding ... That track system is awesome. (Note to self ... put it on the Christmas list)
Really, really nice.
You are an Artist!
I have found making a sandpaper buck to sand repeated grooves like that makes the sanding process go much faster.
Amazing build as always. Hopefully you’ll have N extra video shot the install and final finish with the stone work
Very nice, great job
That's amazing work wish I could build like that I do a little bit of woodworking just small stuff did make a blanket ladder though turned out pretty nice
Beautiful. I really enjoyed this video. Great work
Nice job dude.
Very Heywood Wakefield. Color and detail, so cool.
The Movento sync bar has an internal shape that locks onto the "+" shaped inserts that come with the tip-on devices. Arrows by contrast, are circular inside. Order the Blum sync bars with your Movento hardware, from your Blum supplier.
Did you consider making the horizontal cuts for the drawer fronts at the bottom of the grooves rather than "out front" ? I'm afraid that line caught my eye every time you showed it. (Hope I didn't just spoil it for you!)
Awesome design Jason!
Super Cool build. Very clever design.
Absolutely brilliant build man
Nice piece. I ordered some clamps online but the manufacturer is out. You have them all.
A new video from you makes me happy!
Did the left side fit ok against the wall or do you think you should’ve left that 1-1/2" piece off until install and cut it to fit the wall?
So now we know who won the lottery! Nice job!!
Superb
very cool! are you not concerned about wood movement on the exposed end though?
That’s a funny looking tree house 😂 great work.. I’m going to avoid showing this to my wife so I don’t have to try and make it lol
Some day she will find out lol.
I’m not a “Flutie man” but really enjoyed the art of cabinet building. Great project.
hey hey. very nice. how does timber hold up in bathrooms? what is a convenient way to separate the top from the vanity so it can be sanded and refinished when needed?
thank you.. i really enjoy your channel.
Could you do a sketch-up tutorial on ur laptop and kind of show us your design process? I think that would be a really cool video idea. But then again, ur the master. What do I know. lol
Waterlox sealer over the finish might be good for the bathroom.
Great ! Been thinking about doing this.
Very attractive, Jason. Don't get toothpaste in those grooves. I hope you'll show us the vanity in place when the bathroom is done.
Awesome build as usual. But horizontal slats give way to a lot of surface where dust can accumulate. Unless you don't mind cleaning each crevice often
A vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment makes quick work
@@ZackPyle sure. But some prefer no work at all... QoL design. Unless you really favor the horizontal lines before extra cleaning. It's a matter of choice in the end.
@@mariano_353 yeah, I'd probably do vertical grooves myself
In the future, you can wrap the sandpaper around a dowel to sand the divots in the fluted faces!
I'm working on a similar one with spalted maple.
Amazing job!
Hi Jason! Thank you very very much for all the videos! Love them a lot!
I fall in love with with wood working for a while now. This is the only thing when it comes to work that makes me feel alive when i do it. I love love love it But I have no Idea really on how to make money off of it!
What would be your advice? I would quite my current job today if I can find ways to make a living off of my wood working skills.
Any tip would be much appreciated
Looks great but would it look better if the gaps were at the bottom of the coves, just a thought 😊
I'm finding it very weird that as I watch this video, you're in the UK, a few miles down the road from me filming a video in a garden shed 😂
I want to see the installed version 😊
Very cool
A tip for sanding fluted stuff is to wrap a dowel with sand papare to get down in there to save your fingers
You could have at least told him that before he went through the trouble of building and making the video. Gosh. 😂
Worth all the hard work! Looks amazing!!
why didn’t you use you’re track saw to break down the plywood? Just curious
Wow so amazing seriously !!!
My favorite thing to do with a floating vanity is put LED lights under the toe kick and install a motion sensor switch so they turn on automatically when you walk in the room.
Totally thought you started to say, "Make sure you check with your wife twice." at the end. lol. Would also be great advice. I hope you realize that to those of us who can't build a damned thing, you are like a wizard. The measurement magic you use to make sure all the drawers are equally distanced is mind numbing. I'd just light my hair on fire and tell my wife it can't be done.
Looking fit.
Sooooooooooo cool now back to the treehouse.
When are you starting your next fluted cabinet drawer project?
