    I will disagree on the definition of an expat - an expat is someone who lives outside their home country. He is correct that Thailand considers us long stay residents. As for citizenship, it is very difficult to get Thai citizenship. It is difficult to get permanent residency as well. Most of us expats must extend our visas yearly.

    Sadden to hear his love "Whiskey" had to take a hike, probably for the better... I've heard she had gone on to ruin many a man, especially in Southeast Asia...
    I heard it's very pleasant and peaceful up North in Chaing Mai and beyond... Perhaps that's why I current living in downtown Pattaya... I need excitement, just like NYC...
    Just the morning traffic jam is exciting... Just this very morning I saw a beauty wearing ironed Khakis... I thought she must be a Thai Navy Wave, to my surprise she was actually a local public high school teacher, 14 and 15 year olds...
    She smiled when I addressed her, and to my surprise again she was still wearing braces on her teeth... So cute... How I wanted to go back to high school again... 555

    Thailand is still much cheaper to live than most western countries. Roughly speaking, to meet immigration financial requirements, you need a minimum of about $2,000/month income. It is more complicated than that but that is a good ballpark number to consider if you are thinking about moving here. There are wealthy expats living here as well. Thailand has plenty to offer.

    • @martypoll
      @martypoll Рік тому

      @@spookyblack7526 The Immigration requirement to extend an O or OA visa is to have 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account 2 months before you apply for the 1 year extension, 3 months after you apply and no less than 400,000 for the rest of the year. You need to replenish the account to 800,000 baht 2 months before your next extension. There is another way to meet the financial requirements and that is to deposit a minimum of 65,000 baht, from a foreign source, to your Thai account 12 months before you apply for your 1 year extension. You can spend the 65,000 baht each month. 65,000 baht is currently about $1,880. Plan for the exchange rate to vary over time.

    • @martypoll
      @martypoll Рік тому

      @@spookyblack7526 I have not entered Thailand since 2019 so I don’t know for sure whether you need a return ticket. I’ve seen others answer this question as Yes. There is a company called Onwardticket the sells cheap one way tickets or you can just research yourself and buy the cheapest ticket to a neighboring country and just not use it.

    • @martypoll
      @martypoll Рік тому +1

      @UCwL7kI3wv2P-IgelguKiaRQ In my opinion then Elite Visa is most appropriate for those 45 years old and younger that want a legitimate visa to stay long term in Thailand. I recommend looking at the monthly cost for say the 5 year Elite and decide for yourself whether that is something you can afford and is acceptable to you. It is an up front cost so you should be sure that you really like Thailand enough to make a 5 year commitment. There are plenty of people over 50 that have an Elite visa and love it because of the convenience and relative certainty of being able to remain here. Extending an O or OA visa yearly is too much trouble for some people or too intimidating for others but at 1,900 baht it is much much cheaper to extend an O or OA visa than an Elite visa. It can be a little psychologically unsettling for some people to always know that you are only here for a year at a time. I have been extending my OA visa yearly, by myself (no visa agent assistance), for 5 years without any problems. I have just been approved for a new 10 year visa which I hope to get stamped into my passport in a few days. The 10 year Long Term Resident visa is a new visa since September 2022. It has a fee of 50,000 baht for 10 years. You should investigate this visa on the Board of Investment (BOI) website.

I think this guy spends more money in a day than I spend in a month which I guess if you got it, there is nothing wrong with that, but he's clearly a high functioning Alcoholic and I guess that's ok too, if that is who you want to be but I just found it amazing that he has been able to accomplish so much and still be such a drinker. I wish him all the best. Seems like a nice man despite all his drinking. I wouldn't hang out with him, but then again he wouldn't be interested in hanging out with me either but that is what makes the world an interesting place. Different strokes for different folks.
