Love these pastime Iconic Documentaries of Train Journeys ,Born in July 1973 ,Love how journeys like this looked with classic steam and soon to be Diesel locomotion that would take over in the Early to late 1960s ,Before Nationalisation also 58 years ago when this was filmed ,During the time before I came into the world 9 years later in 1973 ,The Beatles and the Rolling stones were just happening to the opening of the soon to be forth road bridge that in 1958 started to be constructed to opening to road traffic in 1964 with not many cars back then ,Now in 2022 Too many ,Would love to go back to these carefree times ,Back when my Mum and Dad born between 1953/54 time were kids back then ,Where does the time go ?🥺And my Late Grandparents were coming into retirement in the Early 1960s born between 1914 to 1923 ,Miss them both so much ,They would both remember this sort of time and how easy and simple life was back then .Bring back times like this 🥺❤️ Especially the state of our rail network today that has since Privatisation in the Early 1990s to today become a right mess .

Superb footage from 5 years before I was born. A slower world and better for it.

More memories for me Alan, i also did similar journeys that same year, i only wish i had had a cine camera to record it like you. It's good to see how it was then compared to today's shambles that we have, once again thanks for sharing. George

Another lovely video. Good to see a few 40s during this film and a Deltic at 4:48! I hope they’ll be more, given time. Thank you.

Great production , magnificent colour ,so much infrastructure.sidings .junctions Thornton junction in the background the already defunct winding tower of Rothes colliery ,1000000tons of coal production per year .,a massive investment opened by the Queen ,only one problem the local miners said don’t open a pit on that site it will never succeed, true words .It appears that already track rasionlishation was happening ,singleline through the station .the area looks so fertile Magic thank you.!

As I recall this was filmed on the way back to England from filming lines then under threat of closure beyond Inverness. So I would have been low on film and was saving it for the Tay and Forth Bridges plus arrival into Waverley. So unfortunatiely I had to miss out many intermediate stations etc.

What's the speed limit for trains on the Forth and Tay bridges?
