Glisean i think the video is talking about a love he had. i think maybe something happened and he decided to end it. especially with the lyric “i let the season change my mind.” he could be referring to changing his mind and wanting her back. also with the lyric “only in my darkest moments, can i see the light” he is saying that he had to sink as low as possible to see his best ideas, like the love he had lost from her. you could go a lot more in depth though

What is the meaning behind the video, or are we meant to find our own? To me, it's clearly a psychopath breaking into a love interest's/ex's home, wearing her clothes and filming her a video that flips between being his version of "sweet" and then turning to anger.
I saw it that way too
Aimy Boylan I talked to him on Instagram about the meaning of the song, his personal take on it was cyclic problems with someone's emotional health happening during the holidays. He didn't go into much detail afterwards bc he says it takes away from it being interpretive

This is ridiculous
I see it as an unhealthy relationship where the guy can't handle being alone. He struggles from Codependency in which he takes on his lover's emotions making an extremely toxic relationship. He associates a happy feeling with the girl making him continue to come back even though it hurts him.
Without watching the music video I thought it was that it was a lopsided relationship in that one gave more than the other.

Finally, the little add ons after "bright", the emphasis on "God knows I do", and the short "bit" towards the end all convey contempt too me.

Such an underrated music artist! I've been listening to his songs for maybe like 4 years as of now. There's something about his songs that makes you feel relaxed and nostalgic at the same time.

i won't be ashamed to say that i revisited this because of a vid i saw saying how different the vibe of the video was from the song he was and singing and wow... it's actually really creepy and such an interesting method of perspective cinematography. it just made me love the song in another way.
