i won't be ashamed to say that i revisited this because of a vid i saw saying how different the vibe of the video was from the song he was and singing and wow... it's actually really creepy and such an interesting method of perspective cinematography. it just made me love the song in another way. for context: in the vid ricky broke into a house and wore someone else's sweater, he shot a video and left a letter along with. although it took me literally 7 YEARS to realize that it's never too late to appreciate ricky and his effort in all his songs and mvs. i admire him alot!

i won't be ashamed to say that i revisited this because of a vid i saw saying how different the vibe of the video was from the song he was and singing and wow... it's actually really creepy and such an interesting method of perspective cinematography. it just made me love the song in another way.
for context: in the vid ricky broke into a house and wore someone else's sweater, he shot a video and left a letter along with.
although it took me literally 7 YEARS to realize that it's never too late to appreciate ricky and his effort in all his songs and mvs. i admire him alot!

What is the meaning behind the video, or are we meant to find our own? To me, it's clearly a psychopath breaking into a love interest's/ex's home, wearing her clothes and filming her a video that flips between being his version of "sweet" and then turning to anger.

I see it as an unhealthy relationship where the guy can't handle being alone. He struggles from Codependency in which he takes on his lover's emotions making an extremely toxic relationship. He associates a happy feeling with the girl making him continue to come back even though it hurts him.
Without watching the music video I thought it was that it was a lopsided relationship in that one gave more than the other.

Something about December caused him to think that he should say he's unhappy in their relationship. Maybe because December is often a time of family and festivities?

December is commonly refrenced as the darkest period of the year and is also the end of the year in many cultures. January however, represents fresh starts and new beginnings.
Finally, the little add ons after "bright", the emphasis on "God knows I do", and the short "bit" towards the end all convey contempt too me.
