Shout out to Rhett's boots. How good do those look man; rock bands should have amps on stage, drums on stage, and those sick black boots on stage a la Rhett.
Clone pedal circuits can definitely contribute to questioning 'Why should I buy the original, more expensive option?'. My DIY Jed's Peds Derbyshire Ferret is a brilliant Lightspeed clone, exactly what I wanted, easily available, and much lower in cost in the UK, I just needed to build it.
Even if the Frankenguitar is dumpster dived, that's a great story because it's a bunch of guitars that were Dead and thru surgery, brought back to life.. I think it's pretty cool..
Saw David Gilmour at Hollywood Bowl a couple of weeks ago. It was an amazing show. The last time I saw him was on the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour. I hope you were able to get to see him Rhett
Great podcast guys. I appreciate the discussion about aesthetics and basically not shaming people for their choices/obsessions over how things look. Also the guy for me who’s “that guy” is Bonamassa. I actually got to meet him at a meet and greet last week before his show in San Diego. I was star struck. My Dad and I only had a few minutes with him, but I managed to let him know how big of an influence he’s had over me. Really cool guy. Would love to have a chance to actually get to talk and geek out about stuff.
Can you guys put the reverb link in the comments or the description? I assume this one will be (or was if it already sold) easy to find but it might be nice for future listings. Cheers!
If you stop for a sec to be realistic, you’re already here so it’s not actually unreasonable to think that single early days cassette could someday be a very valuable treasure
The interstate exchanges in downtown Nashville don’t help the bad driver situation. I worked in downtown Nashville for a bit and the afternoon drive home was misery. I’ve been working from home for the past 13 years, so leaving Nashville was a good move! Fun place to visit sometimes
Haha - I was in my teens in the late 70's when VH came out and yes - I'm a fan! Not a superfan (I've never tried to learn VH songs beyond Ain't Talkin Bout Love) but I'm a fan. I actually saw them live on the Diver Down tour (with Dave of course) and still love those old songs! Also - really looking forward to Rick's interview of David G! Major score!! Also - WA did the Mutron Phaser too.
Warm Thoughts: WA 47jr sounds awesome, i appreciate the info on the 1176 because i was looking at one 😂, the odd box was released when Fuller was temporarily retired, i think they legitimately missed with their research on the zen drive clone 😬, they also do a jet phaser. 2 things id say: 1) based on my own enthusiasm about the prospect ofowning a 47, 1176, and a 1073, i would say zach has a point about potentially driving down the others prices. 2) Honestly (if they dont miss like with the zen drive because im pretty sure warm didnt make pedals during the only brake in production, if there was one) as long as they stick with their mission (which, i believe, is to make affordable faithful clones of gear that is no longer being made or otherwise not accessible to everyone), im fine with it. I totally understand and respect the opposing view point. I think the asthetic is true to the original to indicate they are aiming to give you the original circuit (or 1.7 in the OCD's case, come on, give me the 1.4 or give me death 😂😂😂😂) and the orange 'warmage' is enough brand change to let you know their intent is not to scam or deceive. If i had spent more of my life creating products, visual art, and visual branding, this model would probably make me more uncomfortable, but i am not as far down that rabbit hole yet, i dont think i know enough about design language to feel that as a threat. Great episode as always fellas! Congrats on the store and the EP! Cheers!
This is probably not a good time to tell you guys that Ryan (Riffs Beards & Gear on UA-cam) does his series Ridiculous Reverb Listings. 😂 I still like the way you’re doing it though!
I have a clone of a Fender Tweed vibrolux, but with the builder’s logo instead of a Fender logo; I’m not trying to pass it off as a vintage piece Fender doesn’t make these anymore so I don’t have a problem with it, even though at a glance it might be confused with a blues jr I don’t like companies ripping off something that is currently being manufactured by the original maker, but stuff that is a clone of something that is only otherwise available in the expensive vintage market is fine with me. It should be obviously a reproduction though, not stepping on the line of being counterfeit
Congratulations on the EP. Have you checked out Atomic CD in Portland Oregon? If I recall correctly, you get as few as 100- 200 cds for not too bad of a price.
My friend Art Najera was working at Paul Chandler's shop building guitars in San Francisco, and I ended up with a dumpster neck Tele, with two totally different colors of Rosewood on the fretboard. Waste not, want not.
There's definitely driving cultures, and the way to drive in a particular area is to drive in that culture. So if Nashville really has just people from everywhere you've got a culture clash going on.
Love the show (except the part where you mention a cassette tape - because those absolutely suck - so stupid they are a thing - yea triggered now - are we bringing back dial up internet next?). Ha. Ok. Had to get that out of my system. Love you guys.
Cassettes were cool because you could record songs off the radio and they didn’t skip like CDs. Once MP3 players and iPods became a thing, with free downloading, and CD players stopped skipping, we didn’t need cassettes any more. I was running with a portable cassette player through around 2003. Still have a 4 track cassette recorder, because no one would buy it 😂
@@honkytonkinson9787 You got me on the record off the radio part. There was a show in LA called The 7th Day on Sundays that would play full albums. I always recorded them on cassettes, and it went a long way in furthering my musical education (I also had a portable player which was great). Having said that I would never buy a new cassette and it is funny to think people would buy them now as they sounded bad, the deteriorate, the rewarding and forwarding . . . now adays . . . why would they be a thing. Ahhh nostalgia.
I only just got into Van Halen myself and still its more of a tone thing for me I could take or leave most of the songs. I’m just looking for cool riffs and sick tone
I agree with Rhett on Van Halen. EVH was without a doubt an innovative guitarist and brought the synthesizer to mainstream radio but I can’t get into the band. It’s outdated cheesy party music. Each member of the band was talented but I can’t get into their music.
wtf....guys....VH is the shit.......the most original band of their era.....EVH is the game changer.....totally an original......im shocked that you dont have more to say about that band, even if its not from your era....you are musicians and the VH bros were so musical together.....just sayin
You wouldn’t mistake them for the same thing from across a room though. There’s a difference between something being inspired by something or an outright copy. That’s the argument.
I'm sorry, but no one will want to buy the Frankenpaul for $3600. The price will drop to below the point at which the seller would not be willing to let it go.
Big missed opportunity for "dipped in clone"
"There's a reason I obsess over knob placement..." - quote of the year from Mr. Broyles
"I'm 15 years too young for EVH..."
"Who's your guy for that?"
"David Gilmour..."
That Frank Brothers Sonar is stunning. Great show guys ❤🎉❤
Thanks! It's an amazing guitar
Meant to check out the EP, thanks for the reminder. Also hoping to check out the shop when a go through Tennessee while on the road. Cheers guys!
The set made me think this was a Casino Guitars video for a second.
High Voltage baby
Or Alamo Music?
Man! That mummy drawing was impressive!!! I would had also assumed it was printed.

You guys should try driving in Boston.
34:10 SICK BURN!
David Gilmour plays down at the local pub and village hall! No need to be star struck, just buy him a pint! 😂
Seriously???

there are websites you can do single vinyl prints. you can do everything do 5-100.

I feel like the aesthetic of the room you're in matches the Jack White amp lol

The way Rhett feels about EVH is how I feel about Metallica. lol
3rded!!!!!! Vynil!!!! Some pressers will do 50, 100 is normal from what i have seen (definitely not an expert)
Make it vinyl! I'd be in
I thought the /13 BTR was the right side of the RSA23 with a master volume.

Someone is joking on the $3600 Les Paul. Just because it took a lot of work, doesn't make it worth a lot of money.....I'd say $1800 max
TBF, re: Clones, Lovepedal Zendrives don’t do the ZD thing as well as the originals! Have both, and the original ZD stays on the pedalboard!
But he has the permission of Hermida to make them at least

Get off it man, they didn’t invent looking at reverb, jeezus. Can they talk about guitars too? Is that ok??

Rhett cutting weight quickly?
Opinions. These guys are full of them. lol.

Anyone else noticing some audio harshness on this episode?
I dunno guys. Kind of odd to spend 10 minutes shitting on Warm Audio then hawk a Musicmaster “homage” from Frank Bros.
