I recently did a wind noise / comfort comparison between the neotec 2 and my LS2 Carbon Explorer, which I've used for 12k miles.
Without wasting your time, the wind noise & whistle of the neotec 2 was terrible. The helmet padding was top notch! I really wanted a modular and I had very high expectations this would be it.
I'll continue using the LS2.. for so many reasons. Best helmet I've used in over 50 years of riding.

I use to be the guy that thought spending more than 200 on a helmet was ridiculous. I bit the bullet and dropped 700 on my Neotech II and was amazed of how well it fit and the comfort was. With this helmet you do get what you pay for!! I will never buy a cheap helmet again!!

They’ve got such a good neck seal that you can feel the air come on through the front vent. They’re heavier but you soon get used to it. If long haul on highways you’ll need plugs but not too bad and can hear music at below max volume. Not as quiet as I expected but. Quieter than my AGV full face. If buy in a shop they can change some pads there and then for free. I opted for 39mm pads rather than 35mm as standard. The peripheral is a bit restricted compared to my AGV. I need to twist my neck a few extra degrees for the over the shoulder look. Good quality build.

This is a really good review of the Neotec II. When trying different helmets, some brands cater to a different head shape, ie. med oval, oval, etc. I believe Shoei's are med oval? I like Shoei's more than what I'm using but AGV's seem to fit my head shape a tad better. Eric

I absolutely love my Neotec II with the upgraded blue paint job! Ret LEO so it's my way of supporting my active firt responders. It was the only modular helmet I could find that didn't give me hot spots.

I have the Shoei Neotec and love it. It fits my head better than any other brand that I have tried so far.

I used to drive Schuberth helmets and they are already the best you can buy. The biggest compliment for the Neotec 2 i can make - is, that the Shoei is even better (and not by little)!!
I have to admit that Shoei is my new favourite helmet brand - and i guess i will go for the GT Air, 2, too..

I really like that helmet and it’s currently #1 on my list right now. I know you get what you pay for and I haven’t pulled the trigger on a lesser helmet yet but also don’t want to spend that much on a helmet while I check off items on the long list of wants. Enjoyed this one CB!

I have the same helmet and agree with your assessment. It's quiet, comfortable and high quality. It's worth the expense.

Love my neotech 2 as well and have the built in communications to keep the additional noise from a side brick to a minimum.

An old biker friend of mine once told me "If you have a cheap head, buy a cheap helmet". That said, more expensive doesn't necessarily mean you are getting a better helmet. The Neotec II is a great helmet. My Wife has one. I also think the Nolan brand is a great helmet, for less money. No matter the cost, it has to fit with no pain or hotspots. I have had cheaper helmets that fit perfectly and were very comfortable (HJC) and very expensive helmets (Arai) that were uncomfortable and did not fit me. I find that most all the venting claims by all brands is highly exaggerated. I really can't tell if the vents are open or closed unless it's cold weather. Just my personal preference, but I don't wear anything with less coverage than Modular. And like you say Coach, "It's ok to disagree", (but not be disagreeable!) Also, the chin bar on the Nolan modular must pass the same test as the Neotec as far as your comments on chin bar separation. (and modular DOT performance)

I just brought this helmet home in flat black. Comfortable and quiet. I put the Sena Bluetooth system in and wow! I’m impressed!

I had one and my only dislike was the weight. Otherwise it was the most comfortable, quiet helmet I have owned. I have since sold it after trying the HJC 90S Carbon. My new helmet complete with my Sena 30 com mounted on it weighs less than my Neotec 2 did bare out of the box. Seeing as I am into my 60's now with neck issues that makes a big difference. The 90S Carbon is the high end of the HJC line and the fit and finish is very comparable to my old Neotec. So is the price, not quite as expensive as the Neotec but getting up in that range. Performance wise it is also very comparable. I would give the nod to the Shoei for being a hair quieter but not by much. You have to wear them back to back to notice the difference. If Shoei could get the weight down a tad I wouldn't think twice about getting another. Edit: BTW my 90S is the Euro version which comes with the quick ratchet type strap like the Neotec and not the double D rings like the American version.

I love my GT AIR. But I’m using my new Sena Impulse because of its convenience as a modular.
But I just snagged a new Scuberth C5 that I’m enjoying.
    Good review

Very good review. Yes, Shoei helmets are expensive, but they make a very quality product. I'm not comfortable or confident in buying a helmet online just yet. I'm one that needs to try it on and walk around the store for 30 minutes to check for pressure points. Right now, I'm using the HJC-V85 modular. It has a little weight to it, but I like it.

Always appreciate you Coach Bob. I got my Neotech II right after you got yours and absolutely love it. It was tons quieter than my previous helmet (Ruroc) and the quality is 10x better. I did a 17 hour ride from IN to TX last year, only removing it for about 10 minutes while changing out of rain gear and there were no neck issues whatsoever. Great helmet!

I have a 1 month old Neotec II. I'm good with everything except the shield detents. The shield slams shut with any wind at all which makes it tough to use in the summer. My last 4 helmets have been Shoei and this is the only one where you can't rideabove 25mph with the shield partially opened; It's quite annoying. My bike is an R1200RT which is pretty weather and wind protected and this helmet detent issue is a killer. I'm going to look for something else.

I use a Scorpion EXO-S1 because of its lightweight. It's a 3/4 helmet from europe. Anything else (and I have tried them all) is too heavy for my neck due to several neck surgeries and spinal cord damage. Because it's from europe, it is not certified for the US. But for me, it's either the EXO or nothing at all. Even for someone so sensitive to weight on my neck, it truly feels like I'm wearing nothing.

Can a price be put on one's head safety? I say it's worth it! Absent the cost factor, wouldn't more people buy it? If so, why? BECAUSE IT'S EXCEPTIONALLY HIGH QUALITY. I'd love to have an Arai, but that's likely never going to happen since they refuse to build a modular, and that's all I wear.
Speaking of tinnitus, did you know you're pronouncing it wrong? The accent is on the first syllable, and the second "i" is short. I pronounced it wrong for years before I was corrected. It's hard to get used to saying it like that.
The Pinlock does come with the Neotec 2 and I have installed it, though I still have the night riding concern about using it, and I am not about to routinely remove and reinstall it for that purpose. So I will either have to avoid night riding, or else ride with the visor up. It's too hard to get it on and off, then do the same with the visor, and risk storing the Pinlock in a saddlebag where it might get damaged.
Your unboxing and final reviews of this helmet were excellent and very enjoyable to watch. Good job! 😎🏍🏍🏍👍👌🕶👉🍺
