I'll give this video a like for it's clarity to assist other people like myself whom have no idea what we're doing. I wanted to try port forwarding because my BOCW had a blazing gator error in which many people tried port forwarding so I gave it a shot as well. Unfortunately it did not work, I still have the error but I will do this with other games to see if it actually improves the speed. Thank for the informational video.👍

Thanks, man, seems like it worked, i tried everything my games always said that there's no internet connection when I wanted to play even though the internet was working, this happened after I changed my router from 500MB to 1GB Modem, dont really know why it happened but im still happy it got fixed!

Almost worked. The udp numbers resulted in the machine telling me those ports were already in use.

Thank you for this great video on optimizing routers for the PS4. I have a Netgear R6400 router and am having problems doing the port forwarding for two different gamesMortal Kombat 11 and Apex Legends. These use the some of the same ports and the router won't let me assign a port to more than 1 game. Is there a work-around?
If it's using the same ports wouldn't it be forwarded anyway? The name you enter is just for organizing, I think it won't matter what you call it just that the specific port has been forwarded. Maybe just make sure that the UDP and TCP ports for that game are both covered. I may be wrong, but would make sense.

I need help with ps4, when I'm gaming online or ps now I get error message "lan cable not connected" even though it is and the game just stops. I have looked everywhere and notice port forwarding is best option but not sure how to do it on my ee smart hub as this device is not listed on the guide. Any help would be great.

What about the last Range, 3479-UDP u never used it. I know u hit the both option for 3478 but ur missing 3479. Is 3479 not inportant? I use netgear and even though the range 3478 is the same for TCP and UDP there was no error so i was able to still use the last range 3479. What i really want to know, is why u didnt use last range fo u not need it?
My router doesn't have such a complicated system, the port forwarding tab is just a table which you could insert Config_MAC_Local Port_WAN port

Correct me if I'm wrong but for this to work for any length of time, you need to setup a static ip for the console. Or everytime you turn off you ps4 and turn back on it could have a different ip address because it's dynamic

I did all of the steps exactly as he did, but it’s still nat type 3, i’m not sure if it changes only inside the game or it has to be type 2 when you test your connection, did it work for you yet?
When i login to in router setting using it just shows basic info and doesn’t have GUI

Unfortunately, each router is different - look up your router's setting for port forwarding and follow those prompts.
You must take out that blur so that people can see what you are doing

Hello, my routers port forwarding is a bit different then yours. Instead of start and end ports I have internal and external ports. Do I just enter the same information?

How does port forwarding compare to QOS ? Also what WiFi router and modem do you use ? Do you suggest the Arris SB6190 or the Netgear CM700 ? Sorry for so many questions lol, just tired of lagging so I’m changing from my ISP gateway to my own equipment!
Port forwarding forwards external ports to your PS4 on your internal network. QOS is about the priority of different types of traffic. I use various routers so not just one brand. For ports with one numer, enter into all fields and apply. For ports with two numbers (eg 3447-3480) the first numbers is the "begin" or "start". Enter first number into both "start" fields and second number into both end fields and apply. Hope this helps. Shoot me a message if not.

@@user-jv2cw9xi6z Ah yes. You will need to setup a static ip for the platform you want to play on. Depending on your router it may be in different locations. Mine was under advanced options, then dhcp regulations. Find the mac address for the platform, or enter manually. Then assign whatever ip is available. Now when look9ng to forward ports you will enter the static ip to both fields. Without static ip your router may assign a different ip thatn the ports you have forwarded. Hope this helps

Liron Segev mine is a little different I’m doing this now. I have a night hawk net gear modem and separate night hawk router. Off the bat is asks for external port range separate box(only 1 box) , and then a separate line that says internal port range (1 separate box not 2 shown like yours). First time doing this so I’m a little lost. I don’t have 2 separate boxes for starting and end just one per row.
When I try and add the range. After doing the 1935-1935, you say to enter the range. Since there is only 1 box per row, It only allows me to add 3478, for the internal port it will not let me change that number to 3480. So I assumed I had to do it as 3478-3480? Is this right?
Sometimes when I try and copy and paste a really long one such as for apex, it would automatically paste and duplicate the numbers given and it won’t let me change that even if I type it in without pasting.

Liron Segev hey so it was working AMAZING for a few days but I’m back to lagging super hard again... I haven’t logged in to my router since making the change so I didn’t cancel the port forwarding. Any ideas for a fix? According to my PS4 my download speed is 79 and upload is 19 so no reason I should be lagging THIS hard. Playing with my friends and they are not experiencing lag. Thx 4 your time.
Nvm Im good now. I booted up in safe mode and did “rebuild database” and it’s running fine again, no lag.
