@Mike-fd4mt I agree. My computer work history goes back to 1966, vacuum tube, transistors and eventually solid state machines. From time to time I will tell someone that they aren't holding a phone or a camera when something isn't working right. I tell them it is a sophisticated computer that can also make phone calls and take pictures, and just like a PC or a laptop, sometimes you have to reboot it or even power it down and restart it to clear a problem.

Actually, these days, a reboot does a deeper 'reset' than a shutdown does. Shutdown on modern phones is a just a deep sleep, running processes are saved to a file and re-used when you turn it back on. A reboot however releases all processes, clears RAM and cache, and gives you the fresh start. Windows started doing that first with Windows 8, and phones started following after. Androids have a restart option usually, but on modern iphones, it just has shutdown. To do a hard restart and get all the benefits of a fresh start, you need to restart it by pressing volume up, then let go and press volume down, then let go and hold down the power button until the phone goes dark and continue holding until you see the apple icon.

@@zoomingby I do it all the time and ots the first thing tech support asks you to do. There are even apps I will restart my phone after every time I use them. While technology isn't as complex, it stpres and processes information in a similar manner. Most of us know what happens if we don't sleep for a long time. It literally fries our brains. The same thing can happen to a phone or PC. During the shutdown process, it compiles all the information stored in ram, saves it to the main storage, then on startup it checks all the information for errors. This is why most decives display a message and/or take longer to start up when not properly turned off. There are plenty of messages and warnings about doing this, but most people seem to just ignore it. I know for a fact nobody in my family restarts their phones regularly even though I have told them to do so often. The screen you showed said 'Turn Off your Phone'. This is different than a reboot. As it only takes a minute I update whenever there are updates, reboot after install. I shut down instead of reboot. Just common sense to me.
My oetsonal use smartphone is typically cold booted once a week. The other smsrtphone which I use strixtly as a notebook computer replacement is rebooted after OS updates or any time it is sluggish.
Another security thing to do is just use the phone as a phone. I never use my phone for the internet. I have the internet at home. I don't need to look at it all the time.
I find your suggestions/instructions to be helpful. I am hoping you can help me now. Although my Iphone volume is at max for some reason the ring tone and other alerts have lost most of their volume. Conversations are fined just the ring tone and alerts went quiet. Is there a fix for this.
I doubt if I ever go a day without rebooting at least once. I use the alarm clock on the phone almost daily so I tend to keep it on at night. I have another alarm clock but that thing will literally wake the dead or give you a heart attack when it goes off.

Thank You !
Biometrics lock - a recent court ruling said the police were allowed to unlock the person's phone with their thumbprint - while the person was handcuffed. The person refused to give the PIN, so they circumvented with biometrics. This allowed them to read texts leading to a conviction. DISABLE biometrics if you do not intend to use it immediately. Both Apple and Android have quick methods
I call Putin before bed to let him know my phone is now available for use.
Phones does have scheduled on and off setting and it does its restart in the night.
Is there any difference between just restarting your phone or turning it off for a while and then turning it back on?
There used to be an automatic reboot. (say 5am) Doesn't seem available anymore.
I manually check & select Apps that I want to update then re start my phone EVERY day.
I always reboot my phone daily, especially after heavy usage and or doing banking with banking app.😊✌️
Hi, Mr. Segev
What's up with you? I'm doing fantastically. I have something I need to tell you. The push that does not picture on my laptop is not working. What am I able to do? I therefore need your guidance.
A weekly basis? Since I use a screen lock mine wants me to reenter my pass pattern every 72 hours. I use that as a reminder to restart it. I've been doing it for years.
The screen you showed said 'Turn Off your Phone'. This is different than a reboot. As it only takes a minute I update whenever there are updates, reboot after install. I shut down instead of reboot. Just common sense to me.
I had a neighbor who hadn't rebooted her phone since she got it three or four years ago, wondering why it's an hour off every time DST kicked in.
My oetsonal use smartphone is typically cold booted once a week. The other smsrtphone which I use strixtly as a notebook computer replacement is rebooted after OS updates or any time it is sluggish.
Thank you, dear!
I'm grateful 🥰!
You’re welcome 😊
Done. Thank you.
Awesome
close all your apps ten reboot... on iPhone that means swiping up to close out of ALL of apps you come across...
So informative. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing. That's very important information.
Another security thing to do is just use the phone as a phone. I never use my phone for the internet. I have the internet at home. I don't need to look at it all the time.
I wonder what your thoughts are on the duck duck go and their app tracking block.
@@snirbo great. It tells you what it did. How many trackers it stops
Great info. Followed!!
I have my phone set to restart once a week automatically
@@jasonuren3479 ..me too..auto scans the apps as well.
I find your suggestions/instructions to be helpful. I am hoping you can help me now. Although my Iphone volume is at max for some reason the ring tone and other alerts have lost most of their volume. Conversations are fined just the ring tone and alerts went quiet. Is there a fix for this.
I used to do this but have to reboot more often 👍🏻 thx
Interesting. I always reboot when it slows down to clear any memory/cache hickups.
is powering off or restart, both equal to a reboot as far as interrupting those drilling-in exploits?
I doubt if I ever go a day without rebooting at least once. I use the alarm clock on the phone almost daily so I tend to keep it on at night. I have another alarm clock but that thing will literally wake the dead or give you a heart attack when it goes off.
Reboot vs power off on? I have read powerering off goes even deeper than a reboot
I already reboot my phone whenever I think of it - usually when I'm getting ready for bed. I almost never have a problem with my phone.
NSA is like ANgels who only care about our privacy, So awesome they are.
Restart vs Reboot
Is there a difference? I normally "restart" my android Google Pixel, but I never "power off" and "power on."
