2 years later and this review was a part of my final decision to get the P3. DOF is a great manufacturer that still has a great repour with its customers on social media. The machine i got this past August had upgrades i had not seen in any videos online so they are still using feedback to improve design. I am fairly certain but not positive they keep a personal rep on FB to monitor any problems anyone posts that the community can't answer. So very many cool mods with full support are right there. Usually from the original authors of the mod and you never see DOF squash creativity by saying "Thats not the way we designed it" or crap like that. Always supportive posts with people tossing machine force settings around to tweak. I know without a doubt i will get 10+ years easy out of this machine. And i can upgrade to 6 axis if wallet gets fat enough. 2010 Honda Accord seat bolts right in but does require metal cutting to remove excess steel under and inside back, as well as the side airbag. Drill and tap 4 holes. Bolt it right on. Keeping things light always makes mechanical contraptions happy.
Wow, this is SOOO MUCH better queality now, then when i got mine back in 2016... Packaging was totally distroyed, welding was crap, wheel mount was bending, the swivel under the seat (the on that makes seat move) got loose all the time, and my pedal rest broke off at welding.. I fixed it all and was very happy with that, but i got one of the first models. It is nice to see that it got much better :D
You should check out the wheels they used for the H3. They use big urethane skateboarding wheels. They work as dampeners and make the overall experience more enjoyable and realistic. As well as making the traction loss, extremely smooth, more fun and realistic! 😉
Hey Johnny, Its been a year now since this was published. How has the rig held up? Any motor issues especially given the monitors are mounted to it? I would do the same thing with the monitors so I'm curious how things are holding up to the wear and tear. Thanks for the awesome review!!
They appear to have replaced those wheels with 2 larger, wider, "skateboard" wheels, according to a video I just watched that was made this year. Looks like a HUGE improvement to the smoothness, sound silencing, and reliability.
Johnny, I had the same issue. Then I went into VR.. Absolutely incredible. I built my own motion rig DIY and have posted a whole bunch of videos with the RIG side by side in VR. Pretty comparable for sure. Also if something acts weird in my RIG, I can fix it.. Just saying! Take a look if you get a chance, I know your busy. But Great Channel!! DMAX
I have seen implications of people putting the rift sensor on the RIG ITSELF, wich is the only sensable thing to do. If you handle that i reckon its perfect. But VR with the sensors NOT on the rig like how I often see in vids is seriously retarded and I bet takes away from the experience. So.. ONE SENSOR ON FRONT OF THE RIG. Should be possible and stable if done right. Not sure what type of construction u need for 2 sensors on the rig. I havent tested VR with only one sensor but i bet its more then enough when seated.
Hi Johnny Thanks for the review, can you give us an update on how everything is holding on your rig, did you had anything that broke? burned motor? replacement cost? Thanks !
Excellent review! I have a question, why don’t you use VR with this kit? I don’t know anything about simulators or iracing or any of that, I’m just starting to learn so maybe there’s a logical reason but wouldn’t VR be more realistic and possibly solve the weight issue with the traction wheels?
Great video! I am looking forward to buy P3 and I would like to know, if it's possible, how to make the structure for the 3 monitors and also, how to make the wheels for the rear traction in case they break. Thank you very much!
Very good video, thanks for showing the construction and doing a full review. I would love to know which one might be better, THIS one or a motion rig by PROSIMU? I think that when you would use VR with a motion sim the immersion would be perfect with that kind of setup which you have.

I would really appreciatte if you could give some advice, considering your experience after 2 years using your RIG with the triple monitor attached. Thanks in advance for your valuable comments!
Definitely! It's a great immersion add on especially when car engine is idling, revving, switching gears and running over rumble strips. You feel the vibration on the entire rig including your wheel. It's better to use it with surround sound systems (receiver and speakers and woofer) because the surround sound system is another level of immersion as if you are actually on a race track like NASCAR days of thunder. Headphone just doesn't cut it for me.
Where did you get the mount for the triple monitors? Any loss of power with the added weight/CG in the front? I like the idea of monitors over VR, but would like the monitors to move with the unit. Can you post a link for that?
Hi Jonny Tech Gear, great video thanks for that! I am very interested in getting the P3, and notice that your seat is the Sparco Rennsitz Pro 2000 II. This is quite expensive, but quite light around thr 10KG mark. I have also found another more reasonably priced seat from GT omega the "GT OMEGA RACING RS9 SEAT" which is a third of the price. Is there any reason why you chose the Sparco? Do you think it makes enough of a difference from a cheaper seat? Thanks for any help offered.

Edit: read in a post on another site, that the rear base is 28” and the front a few in narrower. That would prob be a very tight fit.

Hi Johnny. One question: For sim racing using 3 fixed screens, a 2DOF or a 3DOF platform is better. Because the fixed screens are sometimes misaligned the platform with respect to the central screen.
Hy Johnny, I did order a P3 system a few weeks ago and it should be here sometime mid summer. I see some extra holes drilled in the bottom frame, probably to move the motor frame back and keep the actuator rod vertican. Great video by BTW. Thanks

The movement of the rig comes from the telemetry interface data transmitted from the game. You will see the difference as for how the car is performing and your rig will move accordingly to this data.
Hej Otto. Jag har bara provat P3 och kan tyvärr inte säga något om H versionerna då jag inte testat, dock fungerar fortfarande min P3 jättebra och jag är nöjd med den. Mvh Johnny
Excellent review! much appreciated. I was wondering how much the rig has affected your lap times? I do want to make the immersion bigger however I'm not sure if my lap times on a static rig will (ever) be matched.
Can Anyone comment on whether the P3 is worth the premium over the H3. I saw from their description that the P3 is more meant for constant arcade use and the H3 is more for home use. Overkill to get the P3?
Hey man, I got this but have bought 2 seats that don't fit and can't find a vendor that is listing the bolt patterns. Can you please let me know the make and model of your chair that fits naturally on the P3?
@@maxthomas1950 I ended up using a coupe seat. Had to use 2x4's to get it to fit right and that was my third chair. To be honest, it's neat - but I was tremendously disappointed in the P3 rig. I've already sold it (at a loss).

elite in vr? I made a cockpit that vibrates but this would be amazing in vr. As soon as save for a house, I'm going to refinance that shit and pick one of these up!
Hi, nice channel, good job!
I will buy a p3 an I wondering which Seat do you use? or recomends?
I will be så happy if you can help me whit that.
Thnxs!
what about the adjustments? can you ajust the height and angle of the racing wheel? can you adjust the angle and distance of the pedals?
Hi
Yes you can adjust the height but not the angle of the wheel, im runing it in the topp seting.
The pedels can be angle adjusted in 4 steps.
Johnny Tech Gear Thank you for the info!
What monitors are you running?
Sir how did you machine the wheels
Hello Johnny; Thanks to your very good review I am bringing to Peru a P3 platform of DOFReality, who have been giving me a very good support. I see that you have installed V3 pedals from Fanatec; what wheel do you use? Would you like the CSL Elite? I thank you in advance for your answer. LuisM
Thanks
'Hi right now im using the Thrustmaster T-500RS wheelbase.
I have plans of upgrading to a Fanatec but dont have the possibility to do so right now.
@@johnnytechgear1613 Hi Johnny; thank you for your answer. I´ll keep you posted with my experience with the rig. Best regards and happy holidays! LuisM
Did any one tried it with car or truck simulator the SimuRide by Aplusbsoftware?
When you change car suspension to stiff do you feel the difference?
The movement of the rig comes from the telemetry interface data transmitted from the game. You will see the difference as for how the car is performing and your rig will move accordingly to this data.
Hi Johnny, i am about to invest in one of the Dof rigs, the big question for me is H or P model. Normal home use! Tacksam för tips ;)
Hej Otto.
Jag har bara provat P3 och kan tyvärr inte säga något om H versionerna då jag inte testat, dock fungerar fortfarande min P3 jättebra och jag är nöjd med den.
Mvh Johnny
Excellent review! much appreciated. I was wondering how much the rig has affected your lap times? I do want to make the immersion bigger however I'm not sure if my lap times on a static rig will (ever) be matched.
lol setting up a shop. Same did they tell me :D
That ting works in consoles??
Can Anyone comment on whether the P3 is worth the premium over the H3. I saw from their description that the P3 is more meant for constant arcade use and the H3 is more for home use. Overkill to get the P3?
I also have the P3 rig and I'm always suffering with the gear play, did you notice that also?
Hi yes a little bit but i dont notice it when i driving.
Do you recomend it for F1 game?
does any seat can fit into the dof p3 ?
Excellent review!
Thank you Steven
Nice set up!
Thx mate
Best simulator iv'e ever seen :)
Very good review
Thx mate
Hey man, I got this but have bought 2 seats that don't fit and can't find a vendor that is listing the bolt patterns. Can you please let me know the make and model of your chair that fits naturally on the P3?
@Will Hendo did you ever find a seat that works? We just order a P6 for the university and need to make sure we have the right seat as well?
@@maxthomas1950 I ended up using a coupe seat. Had to use 2x4's to get it to fit right and that was my third chair.
To be honest, it's neat - but I was tremendously disappointed in the P3 rig. I've already sold it (at a loss).
@@willhendo9285 oh no what part let you down, I have a lot invested in this project and have big plans for students to develop projects for it. We ordered a p6, Fanatech driving setup, Logitech flight controls, and a wide range of other devices all based on this setup. It's in the mail so I'm locked in at this point and was really betting on this being a quality experience for my students.
@@maxthomas1950 For students it provides plenty to tinker with, and at first it's AMAZING. But in the end it's just ... flimsier than you expect for this kind of investment. You can spend a lot of time dialing in the movement, but it's not nearly as great as everybody says on their videos (in my opinion). It's close, and don't get me wrong - it's really cool....but in my book it's a bust.
@@willhendo9285 Hopefully it will do well for us and not cause to many quality control issues, we definitely don't want anyone getting hurt on it. We have a valve Index and 3 50" 4k monitors going with the setup. Also pushing it with a 8k Maingear rig. I guess if it disappoints to much we can always look at other solutions, I'm really hoping the p6 will be impressive. I know I can't expect a 100k rig but I am expecting it to be pretty good. I got the butt shaker system, the wind add on, literally everything. I ordered a next level seat hoping it would work but there was really no documentation on what kinda seat we needed.
@Johnny Tech Gear
any chance you could start supplying the brass roller wheels to us owners of these rigs at xsimulator.net forum as I'm burning through the plastic ones (white) and even the newer grey ones they supply at DOF? I don't have any skills or access to a engineer who can fabricate these so any help would be much appreciated. I seem to remember you contributing to the X simulator forum and you can get me with the same username there or reply here please.
Hi
Yes i think i could make some more brass wheels if you want a pair.
Send me an email and we can take it from there:
