    I've been having so many issues with my Chrome looking glittery and I cured my top coat for 30 seconds instead of 15 and it fixed it! Thank you Thank you Thank you!

    Amazing tip with the bonder. I kind of stopped doing chrome nails because they always chipped. I will try that next time. Love your videos!

      Don't quit! You've invested the $. Try my "Holo/Chrome Blocking" technique if you have a pigment that chips even after using binder. Best!

      Is that bonder or nail primer?

  • @raya74

    Some techs just say make u sure u file the chrome off from around the edges but I think bonder is an added insurance and using a thicker top coat great video!

    Thanks for the tips. I"m not a pro but haven't had issues with chipping and peeling til I tried chrome. Will give it another shot this weekend with these tips.

    How do you remove “no soak” gel? I plan on doing this over a dip application…which we normally soak off in acetone.

    What would happen if you use alcohol as your nail primer and seal the chrome with it? Would it work or would it have an adverse effect?

    Very useful guide!
    Although I seem to have a problem with the final top coat (I use soak off/semi permanent no wipe top coat)… for some reason it seems to cure perfectly but after two days it kind of peels off in a thin film, leaving the powder exposed. Any ideas on what could be happening? I did dust the excess powder before applying the top coat.

      Using base or builder before top?

    • @09yulstube
      @09yulstube 6 років тому +1

      Paola Ponce Nails I actually used just base. I've tried it with builder gel since and my only problem was the typical wear chipping on the tips. I have primer with acid, is the primer without acid called any other way? Like is it a bonder?

    • @PaolaPonceNails
      @PaolaPonceNails  5 років тому

      Primer w/o acid is usually labeled bonder. Also make sure your enhancement application is not too thin. This also can lead to premature chipping at the edge.

    I ruined my chrome nails in like a day… Because I was taught after the chrome just do another top coat layer. I work in filmmaking so my nails need to be strong. And after a few bumps on hard surfaces it was ruined. The top coat pealed in many places. Before doing my nails I thought: apply gel on it so it would peal… I didn’t… thanks for the tips

    Hi! I’d like to avoid the extra $20 for chrome at the nail salon and just do it at home. Do you suggest I start with alcohol over the nail salons top coat to get the oils off and then go in with my chrome layer? Or should I put another top coat on top of the nail salons top coat?

    What brand of gel did you use after you applied the chrome? Thank you!

    • @PaolaPonceNails
      @PaolaPonceNails  5 років тому +2

      It was a soak-off sealer by BunBun. You can try Orly's builder in a bottle as an alternative.

    Where do the nail tip stands you use come from?

    • @PaolaPonceNails
      @PaolaPonceNails  6 років тому +2

      I bought them in a Japanese store in California called Miniso.

    Mine look patchy and streaky. How to fix?

  • @katy16mac
    @katy16mac Рік тому

    Would the Orly Bonder Rubberized Basecoat work for the bonder? I'm asking since I already have this product, but I'm thinking this product may not work since it's not typically meant for use with gel (to my understanding at least). I used it to get a longer adhesion for vinyl nail wraps/stickers.
    Also, would the acid free primer used for acrylic nails work in this case for the primer? I also have this at home, so if I don't have to buy another thing, that'd be awesome.

    • @PaolaPonceNails
      @PaolaPonceNails  Рік тому

      I think your non-acid bonder is the answer in this scenario.

    • @katy16mac
      @katy16mac Рік тому

      @PaolaPonceNails Hmm, well I tried the non acid primer for acrylic nails that I had, and swiping it as shown in the video took the chrome powder right off. So I tried sort of tapping the primer on, basically letting a drop of it fall onto the nail so as to not rub too hard. And the primer made the powder sort of "oil spill" out and created displacement of the powder. So I ended up buying the Young Nails product you've used in the video.

    Is is possible that I'm not getting the chrome effect because I am using a NO-CLEANSE top coat? I'm a beginner so I don't know much but I used three types of chrome glitters, if you will, and never got the effect. HELP

    • @PaolaPonceNails
      @PaolaPonceNails  5 років тому +1

      It may not be a good quality chrome? Are you rubbing vigorously? Do either 45 sec or 60 sec cure on your top coat.

    • @Arnautovic1
      @Arnautovic1 5 років тому

      @@PaolaPonceNails it may not be good quality but I used two different kinds. I'll cure it shorter because that's the only solution I see now. I don't rub it too hard but I put some pressure on it.

    • @PaolaPonceNails
      @PaolaPonceNails  5 років тому +1

      Try a chrome gel base. One specifically designed for chrome pigments to be rubbed on. Aora nails and Daily Charme have one. Works consistently well.

    What semi hard gel do you use

    • @PaolaPonceNails
      @PaolaPonceNails  5 років тому +1

      For this video (and most quick nail art like this) I use Bunbun Chrome sealer.
      You can use Orly’s new builder in a bottle for something comparable.

    So instead of the hard gel you would use the base gel, cure, then top gel?
