      @EricFortuneJr. 3 роки тому +25

      @@harveysingh8785 Actually it would be a better application, the battery pack doesn’t necessarily have to propel the truck. It can be used in the same manor as this setup and diesels are better suited for idling when necessary to charge all the batteries. Semi trucks have a similar feature that allows you use the truck batteries to run your APU, TV, microwave, fridge, cellphone chargers or whatever then it automatically cycles the engine to maintain the batteries. A 1 ton truck that doubles as a generator would be extremely useful and it could also be fitted with a lithium battery to power accessories.

    • @AkioWasRight
      @AkioWasRight 3 роки тому +15

      @@EricFortuneJr. Diesels aren't suited for idling because they have particulate filters. After extended idle time, you would clog the filter. Another thing, modern light duty diesels are low compression and common rail, and they have wash down issues because idle temperatures aren't hot enough to completely burn the fuel. If you were to keep idling, you would fill the crankcase with raw fuel. So, idling a diesel to power up something would be out of the question.

    • @Matts000
      @Matts000 3 роки тому +14

      @@AkioWasRight Ford Super Duty’s that are equipped with a diesel engine have a driver on command regeneration option for parked regen. So that would solve the DPF problem. And as far as idling the engine goes, I’m sure it would have a high Idol function for when the inverter was in use. Even this F150 was idling at 1500 RPM when it was running. Wouldn’t that keep the engine temperature up enough??

      @@Matts000 That's a lot of fuel you're using to do all that.
      Still, even it works, I doubt it's good for the engine. High-idle and manual regeneration can be done, but it's bad for emissions stuff the long-run because the engines are meant to be under load. Simply powering a generator isn't enough. Lots of guys I know who high-idle their trucks still have tons of emissions issues because the engines need to be loaded down pretty hard to keep things clean.

      One thing I just realized...my RV shore cable is nowhere near the truck bed. I would have to run a separate power input from the inverter to the front of the trailer. But this would be great to cool the trailer off before arriving at the destination, because it definitely gets very hot in Texas heat while traveling.

      Here's my problem.. 7.2 kw is great... more than enough power to do ALOT of things. But not every trailer is wired at 240 volts. Infact very few are. So honestly for people RVing you have a 3.6 kw generator. Well... two of them actually. With a decent 240 splitter like you have here you can power your AC and your neighbors AC, but you can't power your one trailer that has two ACs. Why? Well... great tool, great design but they overlooked one of their major customer bases. Their camping community.

      So what u saying is your brand loyal. Because what u just said makes no sense at all , u saying in 2 years a company will make one but they would probably like all people who's first crop of anything not really that good , while ford would have ot perfected and probably more powerful by then.

      @@JollyFlys Every truck brand has their firsts. Dodge had diesel first, Chevy had hd trucks first. But what I am saying is Ford is never good at getting anything right the first time.

      @@randyjr3479 I'm just saying ford has never got a new technology right the first time.
