While visa or mastercards takes 3 or 4 percent of your payment. Wechat only takes 0.3 percent or even none to small business. That is why this is so popular in China
Fred W The other advantage of QR base payment is that you don't need NFC for payment. You can use almost every phone for this kind of payment. You can't say the same with Android/Apple pay.
Wechat no cost and sometimes Wechat will give away a little bit of money

We Chinese will not be blindly arrogant. Most of us in China can see the world situation clearly, so we still believe that modesty and practical work are the truth, and we still understand that China still has a long way to go. We are not rising. We are just going to go back to where we should be, although it will take many years, but I believe the Chinese can do it.
你取个英文名,居然是个中国人
说的太好啦!!
When China is using cash, people say: what?? We are using Visa and Mastercard! When China is going cashless, people say: what? It's lack of privacy and freedom!
Pratyush Tripathy hello close minded western propaganda product. I'm from American and recently went abroad to China for a summer program. I don't want to explain much, all I'm gonna say is go there yourself before you can make any conclusions
different people you stupid idiot
Because it is, WeChat and Alibaba is being monitored, your purchases are transparent to the government, that's how they use it for big data promotional purposes, and also to monitor what you say in WeChat.
You do lack of privacy, goverment have all your data from WeChat and Alibaba.
For freedom, you got freedom... As long as you agree with the chinese goverment
As if the western government doesn't know every detail of your transactions xD even you are not using Alipay or Wechat. Come on dude, everything you know about China is the same in the West. 'They could always know if they want to know.' For the sake of national security or interest :) Imagine if you hold terrorist-related and sensitive information on your PC, I wonder how long does it take for the police to burst into your house.
not just in the biggest cities like Shanghai, it’s cashless everywhere in China
I’m going to chengdu. Is it the same there? Should I start up a wechat pay?
i just want some food Of course it’s the same there, Chengdu is a big city. You need to download wechat or alipay to survive in China, as many vendors don’t accept cash.
Life is about FUN woah really? They just don't accept cash? I have wechat and alipay but I've never use the wallet before coz in my country we don't have those scan service in most shops. If my topup balance is in my currency, will it work in china? Or if my wechat wallet is registered with my country's card
I just want some food: The whole china is now cashless, even in the rural areas. Cash is of course accepted. You can try, but to be safe, you better deposit money in China using a Chinese bank card or have your friend to send money to you. Alipay accepts foreign credit cards, but you have to pay 3% service fee.

been in China for almost 20 years and am really glad that we do not need paper cash anymore. its very convenient nowadays in China
I remember this one time where this amusement park DIDN'T accept wechat pay. And I was so shocked. Completely ruined the trip 0/10 lmao. But that was just so unlucky when it actually happens
Meanwhile, Americans still complain about those stores who refuse to accept bills and coins during the pandemic in 2020.
@Eric Smith Yea, only stupid conspiracy theorists will believe so. Just keep using your paper bills, do not get advanced. I guess your ancestors did the same thing like you when paper money was introduced.
You know that the Achilles heel of cashless is the power grid. If someone destroys or disrupts that you’re stuffed without cash.
Interested in cashless but it's still good if some of the public facilities would accept cash for emergencies
This video is really well done, nice job guys!

Go go go!
Chinese is starting to pay without phones ,last time l went to a grocery but forgot my phone ,I showed myself before the cam and took my stuff ,that's amazing.
This kind of videos makes me question myself why I’m in Australia ?!
shinrey zhang cause Australia is amazing too ..sweetie pie
More and more Chinese oversea students start to feel same why with you ,my sister told me that "since our motherland now getting better and able to provide more chances ,and even very likely to ahead other countries in many perspectives, why we need stay at a place where we are not belong to, i absolutely going back to China as soon as i graduate"
We're pretty cashless in Australia...
One of the first in the world to introduce tap & pay
wofululuxiu li oh no, don’t get me wrong, I love straya and I definitely belong here.
I was talking about my sister not you
This was f*cking awesome! Again.. Thank you guys.
I was a host in naked Stables in Mount Mogan in Deqing, Zhejiang a few years ago. One of the Most famous luxury resorts in China.
Nice video man.
Subscribed 👍👍
Great video, will surely open up the eyes of many viewers who've not been to China before.
The biggest problem with this cashless revolution is that foreign visitors are extremely inconvenienced. I visit for business all the time and I cant use these two apps to pay because I can't open a local bank account (I need proof of local income to do so), while credit cards issued outside of China don't work either.
Only useful app for me is Didi which allows foreign cards.
Tnx for this bit of information. Appreciated.
I'm more amazed that these 2 could speak chinese than the wechat app itself.
Wutt
when i visit china i feel so outdated that i still use cash, while the cashier stares at me
