- Episode 1 of my let's play Total War: Rome Remastered as the Julii. The sons of the House of Julii support their father, Flavius Julius, in his grand plan.
I first started this game with Bruttii. I remember of writing everything I do for every turns when I was a kid. Like writing some sort of a story, reading it was just soo wonderful and exciting for me. Then I lost all stories somehow. Happy to see someone doing the same thing I do after all those years. Salutations from Turkiye, bona fortuna!
Pro tip: Once your cavalry charges in and lost momentum, you can press Alt+right click and your cavalry will switch to swords.
Swords do more damage to enemy infantry as your cavalrymen can hack more times per minute than using spears
Is this an unmastered function only ?
No way! I've played this game for 2000 hours and I never knew that!
I know this is an old play through, but I thought I'd mention that the Shrine of Bacchus ultimately causes the governor in the city to pick up negative traits. Anybody can enjoy a drink, but nobody likes a drunk.
Still an amazing game in 2023, love the role play.
Well it is the Remaster 😀😀 but still the OG holds up very well. Best Generals speeches in the series.

So happy you have come back to this! A shame that you have done so much of it already before the algorithm alerted me! Fun fact for the Julii temples - Both Bacchus and Jupiter give +10 total public order per level, but Jupiter gives a chance to generate a Priest of Jupiter follower every turn (+1 command, management AND influence!) whereas Bacchus just gives a chance to get the drunkenness trait (very bad!). Gauls, I hate Gauls, no seriously i do, i really really hate Gauls. Dealing with them right now as the Julii in the Barbarian Empires mod.
I bet a large % of players started out with the Julii 🤔🤔

Total war games were fantastic back in the early 00's and still good now 24 years later. shame they haven't brought it out on console.
They really were. Changed strategy gaming. Personally I don't think they would work on console. You've got to be so precise with troop movements etc - I just don't think the controls would translate or there would be a big enough market for it in the console space!

Aaaah, dude, not watched in an age as I got side tracked on DayZ streams and playing, which has taken over my life, so sorry I've not been around to support for so long. Glad to see you back on Rome tho, I just tonight finished the old HBO series Rome which I haven't seen in years. glad to see you still going and growing.

Oddly enough i just started re-watching Rome around the same time as i had only just finished GoT. And then went out and started playing GoT mods !
Based on Vibius being sent away to deal with carthage, I like to think he was nowhere near the favorite son. Hence he will get little to no support from the mainland. But he is determined to gain his favor (claim the heritage even).
I am Atia of the Julii, I call for justice!
It's very nostalgic, I'll be watching more of this series if you keep posting.
Also adding onto the roleplay, if you want to include the storyline that the Julii family were big spenders in Rome to gain support, and owed large sums of money that are due to the Senate via diplomats (a few thousand coins, an extra challenge)

I'm enjoying this lets play. Don't forget about getting mercenaries.
I'll keep an eye on mercenaries. As a member of the House of Julii, we're naturally arrogant and Roman 'purists', so prefer to fight with good Roman soldiers who are loyal to Rome rather than those who fight for gold or unwashed foreign savages.
But we will take on mercenaries if required. We can always let them die first...

I used to build a fort where the leader was sat for 1 few turns, then have all recruits form up there from the 5 cities.
Build up a decent army in 3 turns.

Don't think as ally but manipulate to do our bidding and when their usefulness is gonna we are going to enslave them

YES! I was thinking this. We could have the sons vying for power, like a Roman version of Succession, and change the Faction Heir at some point.
Easily one of my favorites of all time I just wish the diplomacy options had been better that’s about it 😊

Actually, the first faction I played as was the Brutii, not sure there was a good reason. But then, once I've defeated the Greeks, I abandoned them and started a new game as the Greeks, the first one I finished.

Question, why do you not choose a different option to earn coin when sacking a settlement early game?
I'll get money through investing in infrastructure and trade. By sacking settlements unnecessarily, it will slow down future development which is going to be essential to flourish in mid-campaign. Being an economic powerhouse enables you to be a military powerhouse. Then you can steam roll.

Yep considering the original was around 3.5GB. Ypu didn't also install the high definition pack as well ?

A really nice start to a campaign I have been waiting for someone to put together. The use of profanity is so unprofessional, crude and makes it hard to watch. What a shame.
