oh thank you! I needed to see that I can do this with royal icing cos I'll be doing it on fondant and I wasn't feeling the ganache thing. thanks for sharing.
I used this recipe and it ran like river! It was so translucent, I had to add twice the amount of icing sugar into the original recipe and it was still a fail. Is that buttercream or fondant?
I have the exact same hold luster dust and I can’t seem to make the gold look nice 😔 you can still see all the brush strokes and I’ve tried making it thicker and thinner
Pasteurized egg whites are preferable but when u use then raw eggs white u can add something like lemon juice as she did to kill any unwanted pathogen!
Rain Love hi I just bought one. I feel it’s pale gold :/ It’s powder form. Are you sure it becomes as shiny as shown? What should it absolutely be mixed in to be super shiny gold.
Oh my goodness some of the comments below what can I say? Maybe dont bake. I love this turorial didnt think to do royal icing & then paint. Im doing chocolate ganache & the client wants gold drips any suggestions for that one please? Thank you.. Sorry forgot to ask is your cake covered with white chocolate ganache please?
Beautifully decorated cake! Please could you tell me, how long do you gave before the icing for the drip begins to set? And is the icing a lemony taste? Thank you in advance 😁
No dear. Unless you are the owner of a gold dust company or that cake is going to cost a million bucks. That would require too much gold dust . It's more cost effective to paint it on plus it will not be so much defined if you mix it with the icing sugar. It won't be that shinny.
Great video. And this is not a criticism, but since you are using Royal Icing, does that not completely turn rock hard and throw off the texture of the cake? Just curious.
Gorgeous cake! May I ask what the gold pigment to alcohol ratio was? I've tried something similar but it was too runny and the colour wouldn't set. Thanks!
Hi I need help & any suggestions welcome!! When I tired this I had a buttercream covered cake. I used the same recipe for the drips but they were thin & went right down to the board, even after thickening it. When I painted I struggled with streaks & I found that it became patchy as the rejuvenator spirit evaporated. I want to become better at this but I feel that things go wrong for me even when I follow instructions exactly 😞
Emma Ryan I did the same thing and it happened exactly the same, I figured that It only works in fondant because of the humidity on the buttercream. It doesn't matter how thick the icing is, it will get wet for the little amount of condensation on the buttercream when you get it out of the fridge. I'll try this with ganache instead.
Jon Jos Ah see I couldn't work out weather this cake on the vid was fondant or not! Ganache is probably better but I've heard it doesn't harden enough to paint 🤔
Emma Ryan was you cake chilled when you did the drips? I usually do the drips when my cakes has been chilled for at least 30 min. That way when you do the drips on a chilled cake they won't go all the way down if you don't want that effect. As for painting the drips, also make sure your cake is chilled before you paint. That's how I do it and never had a problem. The drips will become set once put in the fridge. If you find that once you started to paint and the drips are becoming softer, put it back in the fridge for a while then finish it. Also for the streaking, try not make your gold paint very runny or you can paint the drips a couple of coats. Try this method and see how you go.
How do you add flowers ontop and on the side of the cake after the royal icing dried? Isn't it difficult to stick the wires in the RI ?Or do you add them before it dries and paint it gold afterwards?
I have seen some bakers just put a line of regular buttercream frosting or whatever regular frosting they used for the cake and then stick the flowers onto that. Just a thin line- enough to make the flowers stick/hold, but small enough so the flowers can cover that line of frosting.
Thank you for your video! I've got a question: Base of cake is cover with butter cream or something else? I would like to make "drizzle" from royal icing on the cake covered with butter cream - wondering it this will work :)
did u add dowels to your cake? for some reason my cake never stands tall if i dont put dowels in it and I've seen so many videos where ppl do drip cakes and dont add any dowels :/
Xalide Qushenova you most of the time can but it takes a longer time to dry, and in this certain case i wouldn't. you can use rosewater or non alkoholic lemon extract for example I always use vodka cause it takes the least time to dry, water will make the Royal icing melt again
How come you didn't add in the golden luster dust with the royal icing? Wouldn't it be easier and skip the step of painting it afterwards, or would that affect the icing?
O idee de 1 Martie, merită apreciere.
I can't believe this is painted! Not me surprised. This must be how they can keep the gold so pigmented
I need to bake a cake for this week and wanted to do something simple but flashy as I don't often decorate - this is perfect, thankyou
Hoy me suscribí a tu canal 😊 dese aprender y aunque no hablo inglés , tu contenido es muy bueno 😊 gracias 🙏

How long it take to set before painting it please. Also is it still a bit soft when cutting through or does it set as hard as chocolate.

Rain Love hi I just bought one. I feel it’s pale gold :/ It’s powder form.
Are you sure it becomes as shiny as shown? What should it absolutely be mixed in to be super shiny gold.
Beautiful! Can't wait to try it for myself. And I loved the dreamy music in the background too. Can anyone identify the music for me?
Do you have to freeze the cake for a little bit so the drip hardens??? And what gold luster dust was used?
Oh my goodness some of the comments below what can I say? Maybe dont bake. I love this turorial didnt think to do royal icing & then paint. No, it's not a lemon taste, you won't even know it had lemon juice in it...trust me.
how long did you wait till you put the gold onto the icing
Isnt it easier to mix the confectioners sugar with the gold dust and add some drops of vodka? the icing will be golden so no need to paint it

Thanks!
What icing have you used the give off this white look ? Thank you
Hi! This is so beautiful. Any idea what this cake would go for? $$$?
Can u do this on buttercream?
Hi, 😊
In your opinion, for the drip effect is it better to use royal icing or chocolate? Thanks
Anny Rodriguez royal icing it doesn't shatter like chocolate does
Nyssa Sweet So, if I use royal icing, I can put it in the fridge? or should I let it air dry first, like with cookies?
Jose S.M. You can do both just a preference
And this is fine to top on buttercream?
Royal icing I think its better. And dry very fast

you need to keep adding icing sugar bit by bit till you get a less runny consistency...
I use candy melts for my drips and it works on the buttercream I use! :)
How does this cut? Does the drizzle crack?
Anita McCabe yes
Anita McCabe no if it was chocolate it will crack royal icing won't crack the same way it will just get a little crusty
But why would it matter after it's cut anyway?
RNC 28 😂😂😂😂
this is the perfect way to do a drip cake

My favorite cake EVEEEEER
Can you use water instead of vodka???
No, water won't dry. You can use any clear extract, like Lemon or Almond or any clear alcohol.
How do you add flowers ontop and on the side of the cake after the royal icing dried? Isn't it difficult to stick the wires in the RI ?Or do you add them before it dries and paint it gold afterwards?

Do you have to put in egg whites or is that optional? I'm not a big fan of raw eggs hahaha I mean what is the sense of the egg whites I don't get it😅
Hey, great idea. Is it "normal" icing sugar or royal icing sugar you use?
Prob normal sorry for the late response
Thank you for your video! I've got a question: Base of cake is cover with butter cream or something else? I would like to make "drizzle" from royal icing on the cake covered with butter cream - wondering it this will work :)
Is this royal icing?
did u add dowels to your cake? for some reason my cake never stands tall if i dont put dowels in it and I've seen so many videos where ppl do drip cakes and dont add any dowels :/
Your videos so useful and they help me about decoration.Thaks so much. But please say me,can i use water instead of spirt?

How come you didn't add in the golden luster dust with the royal icing? Wouldn't it be easier and skip the step of painting it afterwards, or would that affect the icing?
Emma Sventelius you would have to add way too much goldpowder for it to have this intense colour if you add it to the icing
When the royal icing dries down it mattifies causing the gold to lose it's intense shine
Did you use rose water or alcohol?
Beautiful
Hi, what colour gold lustre are you using here?
Will use of a silver aerosol mist on this cake ensure I am awaited at Valhalla?
Did you let ot dry or put in fridge before paintinh?
Painting

What I can use instead of egg whites?
albumen- powdered egg substitute. only tiny amount needed
Agar agar
Is it safe to have raw egg whites on a cake. I love this, but I'm worried about the raw egg whites
this is how royal icing was always made. Maybe the lemon juice neutralises it somehow
@@jaynemcguinness2833 I don't even put the lemon juice in there and it's still safe. Egg whites are usually safe when they're pasteurized
What type of frosting is it ?
Which gold colour u used?
