Rich wants to still be hitting it hard in his 60’s…. 😢😭 So sad that both these great guys are gone now.
Rich RIP met him once at FIBO Köln in 2015. Enjoy your videos and talk. Insane How much info you are getting from both you guys. Thanx
lowriderskin no body cares stfu
Totally unnecessary and disgusting comment. If this guy wants to make his comment he can. Insulting him like that just makes you look like a miserable person.
@@RapidCycling07 He didn’t insult me lol
RIp Ric and rich ! We miss you both at golds 🙏🏼😢
Two legends together, RIP. you really helped me out with my training and I always learn something from your talks, thank you so much!
Great content. I’ll offer the solution to all these injury and knee pain issues. Speaking as a former powerlifter with a 550 Squat, now near age 50. BTW, I have no knee issues and still move some good iron.
Here are the laws of leg training all should use:
1.) Do a Dynamic movement warmup always. But only Very light stretching preworkout. You don’t want loose joints when you load up compound movements. Save the excessive stretching for after workouts.
2.) MOVE THE WEIGHT SLOWLY, all squatting and presses. At least 2-3 seconds down, brief pause, 2-3 up. Don’t pay attention to anyone doing or advising otherwise.
2.) There’s an OCCASIONAL time to go very heavy, but reduce your range of motion for it, and do it rarely (it is very costly to your body). i.e. once or twice a month half squats slowly with +20% training weights and wrapped knees.
3.) Go your heaviest on legs once a week, at most. The other workouts are lighter, and lower exertion ‘feel’ workouts.
4.) TRAIN LEGS FREQUENTLY. Your body gets better at a movement done often. This helps keep you injury-free. At least 2, if not 3 weekly.
5.) Your should be able to hold your normal training weights at the bottom stock still for 2-3 seconds, and get right back up in good form. Re-determine your Max with that weight. It may reduce your weights by 25%. Go with it. You’ll actually progress better, injury-free, by way of recruiting more fibers.
6.) Eliminate all momentum. Your muscles are not engaged when you are floating the weight, and this habit will only tear up joints. Your joints want a slow loading and unloading.
You don’t actually need as much weight as you think for any exercise, esp for legs. And squatting should not hurt. Drop back to 50 lbs, retrain your habits this way, and progressively add weight. Thank me by passing on this wisdom.
RIP big man. Favorite dude to listen to. So honest.
RICH ATE SHIT SANDWICHES
@@tankjohnson5857 whatever it takes to get big

RIP to both of you. Great content.
I can’t believe they are both gone … RIP , always in my memories and heart
RIP to both these guys
RIP Rich and Ric, Rich you're one of my idols and I love watching these videos
Hey Rick, great show! legs are definitely one of the keys. Rich is right about that. I do calves 4 times a week along with hams and don't do quads enough. I should start getting back into squats and extensions. I just bike 6 times a week and do that for quads.I'm 53. Some great info from all your guests Ric. Especially "The Brain" as I call him. Jerry Brainum that is.
Love Rich......Thanks for having him on........Half a century of wisdom between you two!
So sad about Rich. Seems like he was a genuine man despite what a lot of people thought about him. Would have loved to have met him. Also, Ric I’m new to your channel and would like to thank you for your informative shows Brother. I love how real you are about everything and you are humble enough to ask even the most basic of questions about training, nutrition and supplementation. It’s great to hear information reinforced and even learn a lot of different aspects of things I thought I knew. Really happy I found you my friend.
Rich is wiser than his years would make him up to be, always speaking the truth. Contemplating and taking your time on a given subject is not always a bad idea as shown here.
i love seeing you guys, best combo
SHUT UP YA SAP 😠 😡
Always enjoy your talks with Rich, you guys are great. Thank you for all of the information and the stories you've shared with us over the years guys. I appreciate it greatly.
Rich looked in much better health here, such a shame that such a nice soul had to died
GO BACK 2 MEXICO 😵 😵
Well listing to this really hit home. injuries can incredibly decay your workouts. I recently had surgury on my left knee. I had torn cartilage on my left femur. unfortunately, creating microfractures is the first step, but not a guarantee fix. also, I have the exact same problem in my right knee. years of squatting and training hard. it's just rough to say no to something you did day in and day out, and I guess I took for granted. Rich made a great point...longivity over what others think or your own ego. look good unless u get paid to look incredible. life is a great gift. sometimes it takes a problem to recognize it. enjoy a good workout, but train safely
i get better results off light squats going for burn, really shreds my legs up
What’s the song at the end
greatest person of all time we going to miss you brother rest in piece mr rich i am going trai harder in the gym today
loved all these videos where he had Rich on here, this is how I started to watch Ric a couple years ago. Sucks hes gone now.... RIP
Ric is like 60 years old and still got a girlfriend :D Living that young life style huh ?? cooool
hahahaha, I've had many girlfriends and I find it easy to come by. I'm not 60.. I'm 70 and my GF is just turned 50 and brilliant as well as gorgeous.. check out my facebook and you'll see. This has never been a problem for me.
You are 70 ? She is 50 ? Damn I'm getting shock bombs :D both of you look 15 years younger !!
Swolbraham Lincoln Healthy lifestyle, training and diet .. she trains daily and runs 5 miles a day plus marathons
ric drasin only person i've seen look as good at 65+ is you and Serge Nubret and Ed Corney when he was competing which i don't know how old he was when he competed but around there. it's funny how you look at the most 60 then take your shirt off and its a whole different story you look insane. ( but you know exactly what your doing so it aint a surprise)
Yes. They even did an episode where his poor ex-wife was a guest and said she does not date anymore because no one wants a woman over 60. I agree with her assessment of the dating scene.
Excellent video guys!!
Lookin forward to meeting Rich that Sat. night
Great advice, as usual, thanx guys!!!
I do heavy dumbbell squats and do high reps, they have been amazing for me took awhile but got 30inch legs now
Best intro song yet!
Great video gentlemen. You and Piana are awesome together.
Rich and Rick great respect to You
Rip both of these gentlemen
i just did legs at gym and come home and this is the first video on my recommend list 🤔
so missed, internet not the same without them
I honestly prefer leg press and sitting down hamstrings curls. I feel most of my quads and hamstrings in these positions
so do I ...
I never heard it put in the way Rich said about your body would not allow your upper body to be Huge with no leg work.. I agree
Squats and DL's are "statement" exercises. Mentality is to go heavy. Go for vein popping 1RM or don't do them at all. That's the behavior I've seen at most gyms.
Rich Piana! fucking love the guy
I'm only 16 and have a multitude of different knee problems already, really fucks with my training. I have to go lightweight and high reps, I'm just glad that I have naturally big legs.
+Danny1143 do you have thick bones?
+frank lucas don't know? I'm guessing that's meant to be some kind of smart comment...
Danny1143 no i was just generally just asking, normally people who are young with joint problems usually have small bones
+frank lucas ah right sorry man! I'm not sure - I've dislocated my kneecap before but they've always felt shaky. I used to play soccer for 4 years and I'd injure my knee all the time
Danny1143 you should look into using hgh, fuck is soooooooooo good for injuries!
R.I.P Rich Piana 🙏🙏🙏✝️✝️✝️🙏🙏🙏🌹🌹🌹🌹🌟
Two great guys!
inflammation can cause need pain. Fix this with 48 hour fasts.
I don't like the traditional leg press because I can't get a full range of motion. I like the lying leg press. I also like barbell deadlifts (for those that can do them). I like belt squats. There is a belt squat platform that I like too. I like traditional barbell squats (for that that can do them). I find pain creams are great to apply before workouts and I find temperature to make a big difference. I like to train in a warm temperature.
I wish to all of you much luck and powerful workouts to those who did not have back problems like me doing squats. I have two hernias due to squat and deadlift after 8 years of training.
I am 30 years old and I can no longer train my legs like before..
I tore both of my quadricep tendons doing heavy hack squats on 9/1/2014 and I know exactly what Rich is talking about when he says he tries to do what he can that doesn't kill his knees when training legs. I can do light leg presses right now, but extensions and squats hurt my knees real bad. Are you talking about the leg press where you're on your back that works good? I'll try those. Getting old sucks and I'm only 46. Good video guys!
I'm nearly 47 and still squat, though I'm not up to body weight yet. I am very, very close.
51 now? Keep it up! 😁👍
barbell squats always hurt my knees and i never damaged my knees either
They probably are damaged if you're feeling pain, or your form is significantly wrong.
I think almost everyone trains with injuries. its a huge pain in the ass to try and work around it but its all part of the game
this is the first time i noticed ric is missing a finger, where you finger go?
Ric look likes an old John Travolta
Charles Peak john travolta is old
legs is what make the difference between a gym rat and a bodybuilder. no the arms, no the shoulders, legs is what makes the difference.
If you have a chest 😂😂😂😂😂
Burak Malta classic rich being a dick I fucking love that guy RIP
dammit I miss this guy even in this video you can see him breathing heavy trying to catch his breath
ThiS iS eerie, Ya'LL
8:28
Squats are the best exercise I think but need to do them right witch for some is hard to keep your back from leaning far forward and useing your back to stand back up is a common mistake
when I train upper-body I just get more gains in my legs
messed my knee up from leg extensions.
North hollywood golds
You have the lower body and you have no upper body you got a problem building .... wait a minute You have the upper body and you have no legs you got a problem building your legs you have the upper ..you have the lower body and you dont have the upper the upper body is easier to build
abcdef it piss
Wtf did I just read
Eduardo Cadena sickening piss
I always feel lunges in my glutes and hams
RIP Rich 🙏
I rarely see people squating!
he is the equalizer baby!
What's up with your knee replacement surgery, still for January ?
nice intro music
this dude is like He-Man
ric drasin Hmm, this is weird! Ric, you said in a nother video with Leroy i think it was that when you just focused on you upper body for a while and not trained legs you notice that you body got a lot bigger then it was before?' And here you guys say the opposite:/
what .. what about those guys with toothpick legs who have huge arms, upper body etc
Rip ric. Remember fellas less food is the key.
200kilo squat 230 kilo deadlift. Still small legs hahah They grow a little not enough though.
Ric, I have watched a lot of Rich Piana's stuff and your stuff. Why to you have people like Piana on? You trained in the Golden Era, those stories are brilliant. I'd rather hear more of that. Synthol filled arms don't impress me
When you are under someone in a fight, legs matter a lot, this is 2015 granpa, the fight game evolved.
Damn Ric, mentioning an injury every other sentence doesn’t really motivate me to lift heavy anymore.
i hate doing legs coz my leg workouts are so boring as i can't do squats n deads due to lower back injuries
Arnold had a cable form and technique that was unapproachable. But his barbell presses and raises were horrible off-form and barely correct. And any DNA stand a chance to stop the carnage that would insue.
I don’t know that Rich was being honest here, in the “bigger by the day” series, there was one day at least that he squatted and did not mention anything about having knee issues, he implied that he did not care much for them
SHOOOOP AAAAH.
Love to be able to squat heavy. But lower back prevents it.
Dead-lifts and good-mornings will strengthen your lower back. This will in turn increase the amount of weight you will be able to squat. Also, try more of a power lifting stance while squatting. This will take a lot of the pressure off the lower back and transfer it to where it needs to be--the glutes and hamstrings. :) Keep in mind that when changing to a new lifting technique, you may experience a temporary decrease with your 1 rep max until you adjust. :) But don't take my word for it, research these things before you start. Have fun
Cameron Charron yes definitely deadlifts, I never did them because I had lower back pain due to working as a builder. saw videos of friends doing deadlifts and thought hold on I must try to do this too, works wonders for lower back, it does get sore after a deadlift workout but I think its muscle soreness, go's away after a day or 2, nothing like the pain I had when my lower back was weaker, I think u may be experiencing lower back pain because of muscle imbalance
sinful simon right on. A training program should always reflect one's goals and physical limitations. 🖒
Back at you 💪
ric I have a bigger legs than my upper body im 18 and I have 29 inch thighs
Can someone tell me the intro song please?
Chocolate by The 1975
You think maybe losing weight would help your knees? I'm just thinking out loud.
Ric, something is wrong with your microphone.
Good video though. :)
No it's fine.. It's your computer.. It's fine on everyone elses
ric drasin Thanks for the videos ! your a legend Ric !
Rick your great!
davosat loooooooooool it sounds good....
the small upper body/big lower body problem applies to literally
Does squats hurt your knees?
You can actually make this question to the mighty Ronnie Coleman.
What happened to the pinky finger?
Chopped it off he explains it in a video about tearimg joints
Lol “laegs” I miss rich...
Sure, squats & deadlifts...the 2 lifts that will f*ck up you back and make you NOT work out ever again....go for it suckers!
Says the dude who doesn't lift....
If u do them correctly it will actually strengthen your back and can prevent back problems.
I feel great doing squats. I'm in my 40's. I alternate between squats and "static" squat holds. RDL's are great too. My current workout is "lower body, upper body push-pull". But I only squat 135. So going light seems to help.
Fuck up ur back while squatting? Damn dude u must squat shit hahaha. Squats are a must have, but i agree with deadlifts. I know to many ppl getting injured through wrong execution.. The chance to injure in deads is higher, period
Luca R.B. yea if you deadlift like a YOLO
To be honest I've nothing against Rich but he really wasn't the brightest kid in the class. Lot of questionable information combined with the fact that if you didn't grow on the amount of gear he was taking then there was something very wrong. Plus there's a lot of oil in that body.
8:24 ...wow, very sad to listen to.
Its a young man's sport, especially the clothes and tatt thing, and even the dialogue seems kind of child-like..
Shutup fatty
This is wrong lol Im not proud of my chicken legs but honestly my upper body is super jacked and i dont train legs.
Even when i did train legs my upper body didnt get any bigger/
No clue....body built by massive juice...
The big guy is out of breath just sitting there talking, can you walk more than 100 yards without stopping ??
i guess he didnt listen to his body
That guy looks very unwell!
He actually died, soooooo yeah he was unwell
Smaller by the day!
corny
ScrewHeadJuNgle deader by the day now !!
Rich has to get off the juice listening to him trying to take a breath is gross
I find that the oldman has a bit of a know-it-all attitude, for someone who doesn't look like he ever lifted a weight. My uncle is his age and he looks better without having trained seriously for years. And my uncle is natty.
Mark Richardson You're an idiot. This old man looks terrible. Horrible genetics
The old man was juiced to gills. Are you fucking kidding me? He probably used an Olympia level dosage for gis results. The fact that he looks awful as an old man proves my point. Genetics my ass.
+SteroidsMakeYouSexy
40 years ago, and now he looks like a shriveled raisin.
billytheweasel lmao! 😂
