This is how country music is supposed to sound. Jason Isbell is by far the best lyricist I've ever heard, and I'm including Lennon/McCartney in that proclamation. He's leagues above his contemporaries, and probably the most prolific songwriter living today.
I'm so thrilled to see the explosion that has been this man's career in the last two years. No one more deserving. And, The 400 Unit, a classier group of guys you'd be hard-pressed to find. Miss Shires, the good woman that was needed, and found. Aren't we, the appreciators of beautiful words and music, so lucky for the magic that's happened.
Brilliant songwriter. Super tight band. This is excellent music all around. More people should know about this guy's stuff. Music like this actually promotes brain use and growth, unlike mainstream trash.
Can't add to the talent of Jason Isbell so I'll kudo the video itself. I love the high angles looking down on the performers rather than cameras down in the pit looking up. And one more thing, this is the second video of Jason Isbell in black and white. Normally I cringe when editors remove the chroma but in this case as in "cigarettes and wine" the black and white video fits for some odd reason.

Pure genius

Such a tremendous talent and by all appearances, also a genuinely good guy. We need many more artists of this ilk.....

That guy could sing a speeding ticket to me and I'd like it.

The tempo works here.
good !!
Shortest mic stand I have ever seen for a bass player.
Tempo is WAYYYYY too fast. He must have wanted to hurry off stage to go pee or something. I am always hoping to find a good live version, great song
davel8n The tempo is definitely faster than the studio version but it works. It just seems like an all out version.
shows and records are different....If you want to hear the songs as recorded - play the record
@@paulmoody9496 what a smart ass. I see it says (edited), I wonder how stupid your comment was before the edit
