  • Gilbert Arenas goes OFF about how Victor Wembanyama's potential to be a billionaire in the NBA. Faster than what LeBron James got to a Billion dollars. The NBA Contracts keep getting bigger and Victor Wemby will be one of the highest-paid athletes of all time. The San Antonio Spur, Rookie of The Year, and Defensive Player of The Year Runner-up have limitless potential in endorsements and just on-the-court contracts. His first rookie deal was 55 million dollars. Rashad McCants agrees with Gilbert and the rest of the Gil's Arena crew.
    Gil’s Arena premieres every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 11:30am PT / 2:30pm ET.

    Can u imagine the rookie contracts in the future? If Wemby’s contract rn is 55M, the next 2 or 3 decades, the 1st pick will probably have 100M in just their rookie contracts. That’s insane for like any 19 year olds.

      So we are taking it back to 1994 where team owners and rookie draft picks could negotiate whatever they agree to? I am all for that. History quite often repeats itself (for more in depth details google 1995 CBA NBA Rookie minimum).

      I’m 2-3 decades the economy will be different as well . A steak dinner will be $500 and the average home will cost about 2 million dollars. The average cost for a NBA ticket will be 5k or more . So 100 million might be on the low end

    This is a huge leap and has so many assumptions baked into it. Yes contracts and endorsement deals are bigger and Wemby is starting like a house on fire but he not only has to get better, he also has to remain consistent and durable for 10 - 15yrs. There are too many variables to speak this boldly…it’s provocative and drives engagement I guess.

Embid made 21 free throws. Embid only scored 49 points from the field genius so even if Wemby was guarding him all the time he cannot drop 70 on Wemby to begin with but you are one of those people that count free throws as scoring on someone dumbest thing i ever heard.

    Off the court. Nike aside. He’s already the face of LV. Baring injuries, and if he keep up rewriting NBA history book like he has since all star break.
    And if he takes france to a respectable finish in the olympics.
    He’s soon to be on every brands under LVMH umbrella.
    He’s generational on and off the court, most players spent their checks to dressed up in LV stuffs. Dude gets paid to dress head to toe in LV. And he definitely had LV sent their fashion stylist to care for Wemby.
    Now, big questions.. baring injuries, if he does keep rewrite nba history and multiple chips. Can Spurs actually affords him, while still surrounds him with a competitive team for another 10years?.

    Super Max Players are going to start getting 70+ million a year after this season. Wemby and more players are looking at making a couple billion dollars in the next 15 years from sponsorships and max contracts. Remember the NBA splits its revenue 50% with its players. NBA contracts are going to get crazy.

    • @LordFarquaadismyEternalOpps
      @LordFarquaadismyEternalOpps 28 днів тому +6

      LeBron is a billionaire, though. I don't think you understand what they mean. Wemby is 20. Let's say he plays until 35 and is as great as everyone thinks he's going to be. Let's also say he'll be loyal to the Spurs and Coach Pop. He'd be able to sign 2 super max deals. The first one would be worth around 450m. I'm not sure how much inflation would affect the second one, but even if it stays at 450m, that's still 955m with 2 years left of this hypothetical career life. He could easily earn over 1b just from playing. Now, to become an actual billionaire, he would need endorsement deals for spending money while saving the playing money. So Gil was wrong by saying he wouldn't need any endorsement deals to get there.

    • @johnshippy7698
      @johnshippy7698 28 днів тому +3

      @LordFarquaadismyEternalOpps who did you hear that LeBron was a billionaire from? The same people who said Kanye, Kim Kardashian, Michael Jackson, P. Diddy? LeBron is not a billionaire. They are using a very devious way of explaining his wealth. They use a thing called market to market accounting (the same as Enron used before it went bankrupt) It basically means if you think a value of a contract is worth a billion dollars then you are a billionaire. So if I sign a contract with you and say I am going to go fishing and give you the fish I get and we think by me doing this for you is worth a billion dollars then I am worth a billion dollars. It is very extremely shady way of creating value on something because many times the value of something can go up or down based on many variables. Secondly, 50-70% of those contracts are paid out to taxes, agents and managers. Thirdly, the valuation of these contracts are based on future production and on the increasing value of the NBA. The NBA is losing popularity this is why Marc Cuban sold his interest in the team. The trend is losing customers not gaining them. Lastly, these TV companies are losing media share and are continuing to lose money and are over valued that means they are going to start having to cut jobs and can decrease the amount they are paying for these TV rights to the NBA product. He is not going to be a 4 unless he gets control over the means of production
