as Deni's fan (i am from Israel), i think Wizards front office just do not plan on being completive this year. Deni is already contributing on both sides of the floor and he is competitive by his nature, so they just sell him for what they see as a good prices in terms of picks. They would have done it earlier if they got such an offer. Now that they got 2 1st round picks plus active tradable player, they "cash" the asset. Success? not in their plan for the next 1 or 2 years...
Deni was gonna be the next Otto porter for us. Probably will never average more than 18ppg, probably never make an all star team, will never make an all nba or a defensive team and has pretty much reached his ceiling (which is still a good one). He also wasn’t drafted by the new management team so he more than likely didn’t fit their vision.
Didnt see this coming. As you mentioned, it should have been Kuz that was traded. Deni is a mid range game away from being a young 6-9 three level scoring, two way, able to power drive and get the line, make the next right play, able to run the offense, player. It hurts losing Deni but he’s more valuable than Kuzma and the best asset we had. Kuzma’s value went down after the Mavericks rejected our offer. Give the Wizards credit for being shrewd. You have to respect the front office’s aggressiveness. They told us they would get more first round picks and they actually did it.
I think you nailed it with the new frontoffice take. Prob the best video ive seen from a 200 subs channel, big respect my man keep grinding you got my sub
I feel bad for Wizards fans. Yall have had to deal with some BS for a long time. But I'm extremely happy for my Blazers to get this guy. The rebuild in Portland is starting to take shape, and this kid is going to be a great piece for us.
Y'all had a player like Dame and wasted his years surrounding him with Mediocre talent how are y'all feel bad about us? Dame better than any player we had in your lifetime and couldn't' win either, it's a reason we were losing lol. Y'all in the same damn boat, haven't really won shit significant since the 90's. Now y'all act like y'all got a Superstar in Deni because he looked good on the 2nd worst team in basketball. I got love for Deni He's an above average Top 10-15 draft type of player and it took him years and a Beal less team to do that. Don't feel bad for a team in the same not winning boat as your team bruh. Dame Portland teams were no better than when Wall and Beal teams overall that was killing and taking us to the playoffs IJS
@jba414 Actually the Blazers went to the Western Conference Finals with Dame. Infact most of Dames career in Portland were on winning teams. Neil Olshey in the end though completely failed to capitalize on Dames prime. And he had lost confidence that specific moves would be made under Cronin that fit his timeline. But Cronin did him a solid by sending him to Mikwaukee to try and win a chip which obviously didn't happen, but Cronin could have gotten a lot more for him on a different deal with a different team. But anyway my point is that Portland has definitely fallen on hard times in the last 5 years and are in a complete rebuild. The Wizards however has been bad for what seems like forever. My comment was a statement to you and the rest of your fanbase deserving better than what you've gotten for many years. I've experience it with baseball concerning my Seattle Mariners never trying to build a legitimate contender. I'm sure many fans in DC want to have a winning organization whether it be football or basketball. You guys have won a world series in the recent past so that's worth something. I hope my Mariners eventually go there. But it would be great for the NBA is Washington rose up on the Eastern Conference like Milwaukee has. I just think you guys deserve better, my guy. I also feel like Rip City fans deserve better. But the move we made for Deni was a highway robbery. I get that you guys are tanking for next years draft. But you could have gotten a lot better haul for Deni, and everybody knows that. But we're extremely happy to have Deni. And he's definitely not a Dame or a Beal or even a Wall type. But he's a very good player for a position of need that'll help get us where we want to be.
You’ve got a great style to your videos… you speak from your heart. As a Blazers fan, I feel it. Good luck to you this season and I hope everything works out for both teams
As a Deni stan I think you are underestimating how bad the Blazers situation is. Deni can shoot behind the ark sometimes, but he wont dribble and score on you from there. The blazers shooting behind the ark is really bad, making the paint packed where Deni excels. Add to that they have the lowest number of assists in the league and the biggest number of turnovers.... Deni do needs the ball in his hands a bit, in the Blazers that just wont happened. If he preserves his stats from last year, that a huge dub. I doubt it though.
Deni will be happy as hell in Rip City. We Root for the Blazers and BOO The Visiting Team!! No more Home Crowd BETRAYING you as a Player!! Here in Portland we actually Care about Basketball!! I dont know wtf Washington has been doing for the Last 44 years. Basketball Hell. A Prison Sentence is more like it.
Actually when the ball doesn't move and people don't pass the ball, Deni is having difficult time offensively so idk. You guys don't like passing the ball.
Washington could also want to get better by getting worse today. The next two drafts may be pretty appealing, and next year Washington could be in position for a top 5 pick. Deni may have netted a few more wins, pushed them into the 5-8 range? So, if Washington gives up Deni but drafts top 3 next year, it's a win developmentally. If they end up 5 or lower, then only random luck on that player will make this a smart move, and it could be a backfire.
The reasons to trade Deni are probably: To keep on losing to get a lottery picks in the next 2025 & 2026 drafts, which are supposed to be strong lineup picks. The second reason is to clear his game minutes time to other young players and the last reason is his market value right now, which is high due to his decreasing yearly contract and his breakout season last year. Overall in my opinion, this is a bad decision for the wiz and they will regret it in the future since I don't think that Deni alone could make the Wizards a winning team without taking anything out from Den as a excellent and versatile player.
Seems like Blazers did fine because they got a solid young player. And the Wizards did fine because they got off a non-rookie contract and got younger and will be bad next year and likely pick high in a better draft while getting 2 firsts and 2 seconds and who knows what else they could get for Brogdon from a vet team. Maybe another late first? Better to tank hard than stay middle of the pack. If you keep Deni and Kuzma and win 30+ games next year you probably need much more young talent than you've got and you maybe pick 9th or something instead of 2nd or so. And you find more minutes for other young players to grow.
Sad? What has Portland done since the 90's? Wasted Dame years putting mediocre talent around him. As a Wizards fan folks act like Deni was putting up huge numbers, no he was putting up pick 14 numbers and took him years to do that. Giving him all this credit put up consistent numbers on a trash team, comical. When Beal were there he wasn't doing anything. I love Deni in Washington but he's an above average player at best. We sad and Portland in the same boat 😂
@@jba414 but this year deni stepped up his game big time dropping 43 i believe(most an israeli has ever dropped in the nba), a bunch of 20+ games and he was above solid for them this season pretty much being their only good player this year maybe aside from ck i think
The Wizards management stated that they were hoping to obtain a second lottery pick; thus, it is not surprising that they dealt one of their players. It was also clear that management intended to reduce the number of forwards on the roster in order to accomplish this goal. So it was most likely that Kuz or Deni would be the ones to go. Regardless, I believe this deal demonstrates how the current NBA market values Deni over Kuz, who may not have the actual true demand as claimed, which is why Deni was chosen.
The other part of the gain here for Portland is that Devi Avdija is on a GREAT contract from the team's perspective. So Portland saved a healthy amount of money by trading Brogdon as well.
I totally disagree and think this was an amazing trade for Washington. You just got 4 pics and a moveable asset (that BTW was 6 man of the year 2 years ago for a man that averages less than 15 points on the 2nd worst team in the league. You used the number 14th Pic and drafted your future point guard and then used the 24th Pic and drafted a younger cheaper version of Deni. K. George has the same game as Deni. He is a better shooter, and just like Deni, when George gets in the weight room and realizes his own strength in 2 years he will be Deni 2.0 for the Wizards You can't grade this trade straight up until you see it completely through
You are the first person to say that Deni could go beyond a role player. That’s my thoughts. I’m watching his video and looking at his stats and I’m thinking this guy COULD be a major player at Portland. I like him for what’s between the ears. I’d run the offense through him. I admit I’m a little over my skis but I kind of think that’s what I’m seeing. I’m more excited for this trade than our 7th pick. I feel like I’m the only one in Portland that feels this way.
You're not alone on this. I'm super high on him and think if the Blazers are smart they should build the offense through him, because he's basically a 6'9' tank with guard skills. I hope they going to use him the right way and not just let him stay at the corner, because the Wizards have wasted him for 3 and half seasons doing that, and only when they started running the offense through him on consistent basis, he shined.
I think the main idea about this trade is that the wizards are on a rebuild. They don't wanna win games, and Deni would help them win games. It's that simple
Deni was traded at pretty much maximum value. Just had his breakout year on a team devoid of competition for touches on a great contract with a couple years of team control. Makes sense for the Blazers to get a good player, sense for the Wiz to finally move assets at peak value, good for both sides. Wiz are probably targeting 2028ish to be competitive again and that's outside Deni's contract. If I'm either team, I'm happy with how it went.
In my opinion the answer is easy. Washington wants to tank. They want to get the 1st or 2nd pick next draft which is projected to be a strong one. Deni was going to win then some games so they traded him while his value is high. They wanted as many picks as possible for him and Portland gave them that.
Im a true Wizards fan for years watch all 82 games , it was time for Deni to leave after 4 years in Washington what you see is all you gonna get with his play if he gave this team 20 plus points a game everynight he wouldn't got traded in fact they be building the team around him. Nope he can be gone
They gon see lol. Your offering me 2 1Rd picks, 2 2Rd picks, Malcolm Brogdon(possible 1st or good trade filler) for DENI LOL...I'll take that 100/100 times easily.
Thanks for explaining that 2029 2nd favorable portion of the trade. That was confusing initially but your explanation/demonstration should clarify it for a lot more people. About that Kuzma-Kings part: Kuzma was supposed to be traded to the Mavs at/around the trade deadline, but he requested to stay because he believed in what the Wizards were building. Grant Afseth from Sports Illustrated wrote an article about it titled "Kyle Kuzma Reveals Why He Chose Staying With Wizards Over Mavs Trade". As misplaced as it might be, Wizards GM probably is prioritizing players that want to be there or are buying in to the rebuild. Kuz is an NBA vet with an important leadership role on the team. Between the 2 (and be honest): Do you want Jordan Poole as the veteran leader in the locker room, or Kuzma? Trading Avdija should have netted better player value (maybe Jarace Walker or Rupert as an addition), but on the upside: Brogdon is at worst a great expiring contract for next offseason, and at best another trade piece for additional assets (right out of Portland's playbook with what they did with Jrue last offseason). Wizards still have a 3-4yr rebuilding window since their 1st round pick is protected with the Knicks until '26 or '27 I forget which one. Overall a great recap/video, just thought that context was missing when Kuzma was being discussed.
We got two first round picks, and Brogdan who’ll well flip for a first round. So essentially 3FRPs. He’s really good but his value won’t be this high. And 2 other 2nd. Deni has star potential, but if you don’t give him keys it won’t ever show. We’ll be fine.
dont know yet, this was deni's outlier year, which just so happens to be the tank year where he becomes a top 2-3 scoring option. even poole was getting 20ppg off the bench in the second half of the season. only time will tell if this is bad because we got a lot of draft capital for a guy who gets 14ppg at over 30-35 mpg lol
@@tommorrissey4726he isnt an Dawkins/Winger guy and they probably dont believe he’s gonna get much better so they moved him at the highest value they think he will have
Blazers fan here. At the very, and I mean very, least, Brogdon was a great veteran to have around our young players last season. He is a class act, and many blazers last year attributed wins to him in games where Brogdon didn't even play. As far as transitional veterans go, Brogdon is a good one. That being said, I am now a fan of the Wizards Front Office 🫡
Being as brief as possible, here are two issues. First, Deni may have been seen as peaking and we want to give other players a chance and open up more room for trade package value in order to get a star. People thought Rui and Deni were going to be stars and they are all wrong. Second, every asset we got in this trade will be repackaged in trades later. All of the firsts, all of the seconds, and even Kuzma. We don't think the 2029 first has value for us in terms of a prospect.
maybe you gotta think of this in a business sense instead of a basketball sense. sounds to me like the wizards have buyer's remorse concerning deni's contract extension. deni is starting a 4-year, $55 million contract. brogdon is in the last year of his deal. the wizards have no starting point guard, and deni plays the same position as kuzma. brogdon starts the season for the wizards, and the wizards trade him at the deadline or buy him out if/when the wizards stink again this year.
not saying the trade was the best but we finished 1 win above the pistons last year with Deni. Deni not the end all be all we will be fine. Plus this allows Bilal to take that next step
I think it should be put into perspective that the Kings drafted with the #13 selection, instead of trading it to the rumored teams. So it’s likely the Kings had the #13 pick with bad assets the front office didn’t think was worth the trade. And WSH wasn’t the only team thinking that. In short, why Deni over Kuzma. Possibly because you can trade players other teams want.
From Wizards perspective - A young core needs also veterans to balance and support + Pool needs someone more stable next to him to run the offence (and defence) = Brogdon, the 22-23 6th man of the year. Highly valuable to this particular roster. Deni is great though :-)
Low first round picks rarely turn into solid long term players.Deni can shoot the rock it’s something portland lacks.I think this trade favors portland I feel like he’s going to start for Portland and we might be moving on from grant.
I don’t even like what they did but I prefer trust the process. It’s a new front office so we don’t know their vision. It was maybe to give more minutes to the youngsters or landing more young players. One of my thought is maybe the fact that they didn’t pick Deni during the draft. So we don’t have to be surprised for the departure of some others soon or next season.
Teams were just offering more for Deni than they were for Kuz. Plus Deni was playing out of position at the 3 and taking minutes away for Bilal and the other young wings
Kyle Kuzma can go 1v4 when he has the ball ezpz. Yes it's 75% TO and 25% shot which misses 70% of the time, but that's a skill man! Why would you give that up!
I think they just fell in love with Bub and did what they had to do to get him. We're now forced to compare Bub to Deni and George to Gaff in upcoming years, new projects to projects that already panned out. If Gaff or Deni were UFAs it would make sense but both were under team friendly contracts too.
Blazer's fans are asking why we gave up so much. 2 first round picks, 2 second round picks AND the former 6th man of the year for a promising young forward. Brogdon didn't fit our timeline but he was an impact player on both sides of the ball that could create a bit off the dribble, facilitate, and shoot from range. He also has solid size at his position. If you evaluate his potential for your team, do so off of what he did in Boston. As a Blazer he could cut himself shaving and spend 2 weeks on the inury report because they were trying to lose. Blazers fans were of the assumption a player with Brogdon's abilities would be traded to a contender in exchange for a draft pic or a young player like Avdija. Not a young player AND 4 draft pics! Your A and D are accurate but you assigned them backwards.
1. Front office needed picks, I assume a Kuzma trade wasn't as good as a Deni trade in terms of assets gained, so Deni it was. 2. Since change of coachs last year Deni is a 20/10 guy and most likely would improve further next year. this is a quality player that might actually win you games.... and they want Cooper Flagg in the next draft so... 3. Win win - get assets for Deni & keep Kuz as the tank commander. 4. Terrible culture. total opposite of what sports should be imo.
Great video, but I thought this was a good trade for the Wiz. I'm a die-hard fan and I really liked Deni but if you are going to rebuild you have to acquire assets. The Wiz are building a trove of assets. That's a good thing. Deni is realy ball dominate and plays at a slower pace. We have young wings that need minutes.
Very bad trade from the wizards , deni showed the past season what he can do and bring to the table and had a great season. I actually thought that they would trade kuz and build around deni. Deni is a young and ambitious player that only will get better and better. I hope the pistons will be a good place for him.
To me The Wizards got Bub Carrington for Deni Avdija. Now Malcolm Brogdon can turn into other picks as well. I think Bub has a better skill set than Deni. I think Bub has a bigger upside. The one thing Deni has that Bub doesn’t is experience. I wish Deni the best in Portland though.
bilal was better than him on defense in his first year and he has wayyy more upside than deni. Plus we got bub at the 14th pick. We got the steal of the draft
Wait until the dust has settled before you label this a bad trade. Brogdon may be traded along with other players to acquire another veteran that’s a better fit. You don’t know what moves are planned for Kuzbass or Jones. There’s a broader plan at work here- go back and look at what OKC has done, that’s the Wizard’s model.
Bro they have worked for Presti, but it doesn't mean they definitely have his talent. Coach Pop had a lot of assistants. Some of them became good coaches but the most aren't. Maybe they are great, but OKC isn't a proof, because OKC is Presti, and Presti isn't here.

Most likely want a 1st for a better draft next year for Kuz…I don’t get why everybody in a hurry to trade Kuz you need some vets. Kings probably just wanted to give up just their pick.
Sorry but Deni sucks. He put up stats because our team was so horrible and team went through the motions against us. In close end games situations he was terrible 27% and he is at best your 4th best player on a playoff team. I had high hopes but if you watched the games in person he did not pass the eye test offensively or defensively.

I don't think they got good offers for Kuzma and therefore they decided to trade Deni (they need draft picks and have too much forwards). I don't think the Wizards developed Dani as they should, and he can't be much better without the ball in his hands, and he won't get it here (Dawkins at least didn't believe in him).
Delusional Portland fans call our organization bad and they wasted Dame years. Not only that made the worst draft pick in NBA history lol. Do yall not know that BOTH these organizations haven't won shit(rings) since the 70's? 😂
As a Wizards fan, I believe that while Deni is not bad, he does have a low ceiling. The trade was beneficial for us as it helped us move away from the log jam at the wings and with the addition Brorgdan we will now have guards who play defense. Additionally, despite scoring well, Deni is not an elite defender, and if you score 41 points but give up 50, you cannot be considered an elite defender.

You have to respect the front office’s aggressiveness. They told us they would get more first round picks and they actually did it.
Wizard always let's go healthy young talent. Hard being a Bullets/Wizards fan.
I think you nailed it with the new frontoffice take. Prob the best video ive seen from a 200 subs channel, big respect my man keep grinding you got my sub
Appreciate it man!
He looks so good in the white blazers uniform
This trade hurt me personally but business is business
I agree. Deni will struggle, they don't like passing the ball.
Banger video well edited
Deni will be happy as hell in Rip City. We Root for the Blazers and BOO The Visiting Team!! No more Home Crowd BETRAYING you as a Player!! Here in Portland we actually Care about Basketball!! I dont know wtf Washington has been doing for the Last 44 years. Basketball Hell. A Prison Sentence is more like it.
Bold words for a franchise who hasn’t won a championship for even longer than us and wasted Dames prime
@@Invalidusrr 😂😂 you beat me to it…fans be so emotional and don’t think before they speak smh.
Actually when the ball doesn't move and people don't pass the ball, Deni is having difficult time offensively so idk. You guys don't like passing the ball.

@@Rripahol thx for the advice
Brother, you’re going to be big. Keep up the great work man! Awesome content.
If Dawkins didn’t draft them, don’t get too attached.
it's even harder when you look at his contract i would argue it's 1 or 2 in the league rn
The Washington Wizards has been rookie purgatory since 2019.
Deni getting off that shit show has been long overdue. Hope to see Kispert follow suit.
I can't believe how sad the Wizards organization is but excited to see the Blazers finally be a decent team
Thank you for the explanation and the wiz perspective. You shall always have a seat at my table. - blazers old head
I understand losing Deni stings, it was stunning to me as well but Wizards fans always overvalue our own players
Deni wanted his own team . I’m proud of the wizards tbh .
He is a better shooter, and just like Deni, when George gets in the weight room and realizes his own strength in 2 years he will be Deni 2.0 for the Wizards
You can't grade this trade straight up until you see it completely through
You are the first person to say that Deni could go beyond a role player.
Na as a wizards fan he a good pick up for y’all. High IQ and great handles for his size good defense underrated finisher. And wants to get better.
Can’t believe Wizards fans are so upset! 🤷🏾♂️
Solid video dude. Go Blazers!
“I’m a big wizards fan” bro I’m so sorry 😢
In my opinion the answer is easy. Washington wants to tank.
They want to get the 1st or 2nd pick next draft which is projected to be a strong one.
Deni was going to win then some games so they traded him while his value is high.
They wanted as many picks as possible for him and Portland gave them that.
Yay, another video!
with how hot the market is maybe Kuzma can go for way more than we originally expected
I see Drexler/Kersey/Porter fast break skills. Love this get.
You can still trade Kuzma for a valuable player. Brogdan is necessary because you guys need a mature player, especially at PG.
We made great picks and a great trade stop falling in love with players if they ain’t really good or great understand this is a business
They must be Real Wizards. They can make a Player and Their Career DISAPPEAR!!!
Celtics fan here (fwiw). What are you guys doing? Godawful trade for the Wizards.
We got two first round picks, and Brogdan who’ll well flip for a first round. So essentially 3FRPs. He’s really good but his value won’t be this high. And 2 other 2nd. Deni has star potential, but if you don’t give him keys it won’t ever show. We’ll be fine.
It'll be funny if Deni regresses back to a 30% three point shooter. Wiz sold high on a 23 year old who won 15 games last year
dont know yet, this was deni's outlier year, which just so happens to be the tank year where he becomes a top 2-3 scoring option. even poole was getting 20ppg off the bench in the second half of the season. only time will tell if this is bad because we got a lot of draft capital for a guy who gets 14ppg at over 30-35 mpg lol
@@Zoneread24 I get that it's a good haul. Though I don't get hitting on one of your picks in DA, then trading him for more picks.
Brogdon the last 5 seasons has not played more than 56 games in any season.
Deni is not good enough for yall to be acting like this.
you are not aware...
Bruh, I don't understand it 😂😂. Yall gassin Deni way, way too hard on this board.
maybe you gotta think of this in a business sense instead of a basketball sense. sounds to me like the wizards have buyer's remorse concerning deni's contract extension. deni is starting a 4-year, $55 million contract. brogdon is in the last year of his deal. the wizards have no starting point guard, and deni plays the same position as kuzma. brogdon starts the season for the wizards, and the wizards trade him at the deadline or buy him out if/when the wizards stink again this year.
“Buyers remorse” on one of the best contracts in the league?
not saying the trade was the best but we finished 1 win above the pistons last year with Deni. Deni not the end all be all we will be fine. Plus this allows Bilal to take that next step
Brogdon is really good when he is able to be on the court, played about half the games in Portland.
Deni is great though :-)
pool need someone stable? he should be stable first lol
Unless u been a Bullets Wiz fan since way back and been through all we been through commentary means nothing lol😂
Deni with the blazers' new twin towers will be one of the best frontlines in the NBA
Blazer fan here! We LOVE this trade. Your analysis is SPOT ON! Plus... icing in the cake! hot damn! He's Jewish!
Am Israel Chai! 🇮🇱
I think they just fell in love with Bub and did what they had to do to get him. We're now forced to compare Bub to Deni and George to Gaff in upcoming years, new projects to projects that already panned out. If Gaff or Deni were UFAs it would make sense but both were under team friendly contracts too.
I can see them trading brogdon and at least its 3 1st rounders........but a great move for pdx as well
Blazer's fans are asking why we gave up so much.
Deni had reached his ceiling. They're going to trade kuz and brogan. Wizards want to be bad next two drafts

Btw Troy Weaver also worked in OKC, and he was a big failure as Pistons GM (and he joined to the Wizards after he got fired).

It’s because right now Kuz brings the greatest chance for the biggest haul.
@@jcole4 but we don’t know what the offers are stop acting desperate.
