Enjoyed the video. This is one of my absolute favorite spots in the park. Especially from the Williams Ranch House. It showed up in your video but i always tell people Shumard Canyon/Williams Ranch House is the most beautiful sunset in the park. The way the sun turns all the limestone red is amazing.
Great job on your hike and video. I love seeing hikes from the park that aren't the typical trails.

Thanks Cameron! It was an amazing hike. I was hoping to get there a bit earlier to enjoy the sunset more, but it was still great! I love your videos by the way! I am newer to Texas and have referenced a lot of your videos to find places to hike and backpack!

Thank you for the video! What time of the day did you start this? Is this the hike that you had done Devil's Hall beforehand?
Also how much water did you go through out and back?

Thanks for watching! The Devil's Hall is the hike I did beforehand. If I remember correctly, I started my Shumard Canyon hike around 11am thinking it would take me about 5 hours to do the 9 or so miles. As you saw it took me a bit longer than I thought it would! I brought a gallon of water and it was just about the perfect amount. This was in the winter so I would probably bring more any other time of the year. I also drank at least a liter before I started the hike to make sure I was hydrated.

@@DentonOutdoors I thought you did a great job finding your way when you got off trail! I am wanting to do this trail and I have read over an over how untraveled it is so I think it is understandable that one could lose the actual trail. And good grief you did Devils Hall before so its even that more impressive! I really appreciate you replying to my questions. Looks like most of my pack weight will be water, ha.

Yeah! There were for sure some spots the trail was difficult to find. If you are looking for a truly isolating wilderness experience, this is the perfect trail. I really enjoyed it and all the struggles that came with it! I hope you get a chance to hike it!
