Wow! That was great seeing all the beauty and sharing a slice of time with you. Thanks for being brave enough to be honest about how some parts sucked but how in all, it was worth it. You rock!
G,day Maddie Your a do,er ,no mistake about that!! Good to see your still keen to keep doing your trip and not skimping on the hard tasks. I think I just heard your fan club go ,Goooooo Maddie, your a legend , Me I'm still in hospital but getting ready to start on crutches. Did a kilometer (1,000 yards ) in the wheel chair today, watch out disabled Olympics here I come. Good to see you Maddie still out there doing it, lifts my spirits . All the best Maddie. Bluey
I was there in July (can you believe that?) of '19 and camped at Guadalupe peak campground. I was the only one! Tough hike , but so worth it. Had my fresh brewed coffee at sunrise. You are an inspiration to so many!
You rock, Maddie. Just listen to your inner voice. Stress sucks ... and sucks the life and joy out of you. Just keep going and adapt your plans to your reality. xxx
Wow. So proud of you!! Type 2 fun for sure. I mean, you did it! And it was not kind to you, lol. Sometimes we do the hard things because we can. Not because it’s fun. 💙💙
Maddie you are awesome! My daughter did Guadalupe peak last year. I loved you video, it helped me to see places she was at. Be safe Maddie and God bless you.
This gave me PTSD 😄 I drove by Guadalupe in my similar Sienna camper exactly a month ago and attempted Guadalupe Peak. Wind and terrain were insane! I made it through the hardest of it but had no more energy and had to turn back. Not for the faint of heart. Now I'm training specifically to go back and kick its ass 😄😄 good job! Read the one star reviews on AllTrails for a good laugh
Maddie! Love your videos. My husband has type 2 fun on every hike we do. He complains in the moment, but as soon as we get to the car and it’s over, he forgets how much he didn’t enjoy it and now he claims it’s fun. Look forward to seeing you in NM. congrats on #29. You are really doing this, aren’t you?
Maddie this is the first vider of yours I have watched. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am subscribing. Thank you for an interesting video. I admire you. I could never do what you are doing. God Bless.
Awesome accomplishment backpacking that tough trail! I find it very useful to download a map and route to my phone when hiking. Otherwise, it's easy to get off-route when I'm tired or distracted. Love your videos and travel adventure!
Oh yeah, I forgot to say this in the video but that was my biggest lesson from this trip: don’t use the map that they give you at the entrance station! Definitely not detailed enough! Ha ha
Maddie! What a fun adventure. I’m upset I missed your recent live. Saw you online but was unable to watch. But! As usual, good to see your smiling face and to know you are doing well. Take care!
Well done Maddie! Yessss Type 2 fun 😆 I always felt this way while hiking along NC & Va trails. Those peaks & views & pauses make it worthwhile. I once got turned around on the Appalachian trail, and wound up camping in an open field. Woke up surrounded by cows & patties 😆 Great videography too! It's nice to see your perspective without getting dizzy. 👍🏻
Love your vlog, Maddie! Fun fact: tejas = tiles or shingles in Spanish. Maybe they named it for those rocks you described as "like spines of a Stegasaurus"?
I used to live in Marfa, years ago. I love West Texas!! Heads up---I saw 1 pound green propane canisters in North Phoenix were $5.50 each. If you find some cheap....stock up.
Hi Maddie, great channel! You know, you can always inspect the shape of crystals, which you may have done, and so those crystals did have a square or rhombic shape which could be halite as opposed to hexagonal like quartz. Very good observations looking at the drastic changes in rock formations. I definitely saw what appeared to be limestone and sandstone, indicative of marine environments, like the paleo-central-USA.
I usually moon the moon back if it sees my hiney! That was a cool hike! Beautiful! You should make yourself a portable shower, using a 1 or 2 gallon sprayer, then buy a sink nozzle sprayer and replace the nozzle that comes on the sprayer. Good for cleaning dishes too! That way you don't have to always have to go find a gym to shower. I have tried peanut butter beers, it's not a good combo IMO...sounds delish, but it's not! Cheers n beers!
You're at my favorite park in Texas! Everyone loves Big Bend, but up until about 10 years ago this was a hidden jewel with way less people and compact enough to enjoy a lot scenery. Unfortunately the park service decided to require reservations at the camp sites which really screws up things because people make reservations and don't show up and don't cancel.........wasted campsite. And too, the oil and gas industry has taken over the entire area and looking out to the east it looks like a city at night........but, the park is still awesome in my opinion.
That's so cool! I've been to Big Bend too, and I really enjoyed them both! Shame to hear about the oil and gas industries, but good thing the parks are protected at least!
The El Paso area is known for some fine Brewers, since you're on the west side and headed north to W.S. may I suggest, Aurelia's Bottleshop & Brewhouse, 1620 N Resler, or the Flix Brewhouse, 6450 Desert Blvd.
Not sure what it technically considered the front range, but I definitely recommend this place! Although you could make the hike a lot less challenging if you wanted, or just don’t go the wrong way like me! 😅
If you're headed north (Colorado?) after White Sands NP may I suggest you take Hwy 70 East then 54 North going thru Carrizozo N.M., this very small town (population under 1,000) is home to the largest Photo Gallery in New Mexico and it's well worth a stop, plus the drive so much nicer than I-25.
I'm already gone from there, but it looks like I did go through that town on my way to Albuquerque. I didn't stop for the Photo Gallery r anything, but I do remember that was a nice drive!
Maddie this was an amazing blog..your editing, oh that awesome time lapsed sunset..personal ? Why not, you are human and solo travel can be lonely and not having a kind human to bounce feelings off of van be tough. Thank you very much, feel free to reach out anytime .
What a great trek. I have to laugh seeing sign posts on the side of a mountain but you proved what can happen without directions lol. How high was the climb to the camp spot?
Loved this video. One thing I can tell you about Texas rest area's is be careful around bigger rocks. Rattle snakes hide out during the day there. I do have a question. Where did you get those zipper pants that convert into shorts?
heyo, my pointless comments made it to my state! have only been to big bend np and not guadalupe mtn np. hope you had fun driving through texas….the whole state is incredible (geographically speaking)
You seem to be at your funniest when things are going wrong but let it be known I'm not laughing at you, but at the situations that you find yourself in - I've been there so many times. El Pasoan, Former Dirtbag, transitioning to Boondocker.
That's cool that you've done so much! And I agree, sometimes the funniest things come up when things are going wrong! If you can't be having a great time, might as well be entertaining for yourself and others!
Love your videos Maddie and your sence of humor, this is what my finger looks like!!
Thank you! Always good to know someone out there is getting these jokes!
That was a great video. You're a remarkable woman, Maddy!
Thanks ☺️☺️☺️

Man your video of the Guadalupe Mountains is so much better than mine hahaha kudos you rock!
Nice hike! Not gonna lie, I was a bit nervous for you at the beginning but you persevered and kept going! Keep up the great content!
Yeah I was worried about myself, too! Especially when I got nauseous, I was like, what is happening?!?!
You are really brave. I couldn’t do it alone. Just don’t slip and fall. Lord have Mercy.
Thank you, it was scary sometimes!
Thanks for another great video!
My pleasure! I’m really glad you enjoyed it
It was delightful to join you on your challenging journey!

There’s so many different kinds of flavors! Sometimes I think I need to start drinking beer that taste like beer more often!
What a great trek. I have to laugh seeing sign posts on the side of a mountain but you proved what can happen without directions lol. How high was the climb to the camp spot?
Hmm, I don’t know and I can’t find it online. It wasn’t that much higher than hunter peak, but I think it was at least 3 miles away!
fun fact about martin house brewery company…they make the infamous pickle beer. i guess they don’t make many great beers lol
Oh man I don’t think I’d like that!
Enjoyed the video Maddie!
Was this the highest elevation you hiked in awhile? Did you see any snakes/scorpions/other creepy crawlies?
It was the highest elevation for a long time, definitely! And no, I didn’t see many animals at all!
Need those winter Walmart socks (the opposite issues, to hot )
I've never heard of those! Sounds nice!
