Aw, you poor little thing! I guess we all have our stories. Thinking back on them they bring back memories,eh? I spent a blessed year with the Ursurlines in Parma, Italy when I was 15. That was the happiest year of my life! I hate hearing people talk badly about schools run by nuns, it seems to be popular to do so nowadays. They gave me sooooo much and their gentle teachings lasted me a lifetime. We truly are blessed in our faith!
I've been watching these type of videos and they make me less nervous because I've nearly forgot my practise for how to do the reconciliation/confession and I'm ready to do it tomorrow :)
Since I was 22 I am never scared to confess my sins I have always experienced strengthenig power and love of Jesus who loves me more than I have ever thought.
Awesome video! I am going to post this on my fb page and show it to my children that will be going to confession for the first time this year. This was very educational, straight to the point and hands on!
@@peaxhye4435 could you share to me what to do after you confess your sins? I'm going tomorrow but I forgot what to do next after I confess my sins. It's been 8 years since I go for confession. I wish I can perform well especially I'm using my native language. I need your suggestions please. Thank you
@@10.5Mviews first, do an online search for an examination of conscience. Then when you go to confession, ask the priest to bless you and tell him when the last time you went to confession. After you are done telling your sins, the priest will give you a penance. It's usually some prayers or even to go to Adoration and pray. So then go to a pew, kneel, and say your prayers that the priest gave you for penance. I hope this helps if you have not gone yet. But I hope you have gone since it's been a couple of months since your comment. You're in my prayers. 🙏
I received my First Reconciliation in the Spring of 1989; it was a wonderful moment, and the priest was wonderful. But I had a sad experience in Reconciliation as an adult; I was actually asked by a priest why I was at Reconciliation........yes, I was actually asked why. I tried continuing confessing my sins, but this priest snapped, and said: "stop that!," really rude. I left Reconciliation in tears that day, and ever since then, I'm terrified to go to Reconciliation. I'm telling the truth, and as hard it is to believe, this actually happened, and I haven't been to Reconciliation since this happened. I've told friends about what happened, and they even asked boldly: "Would Jesus ever ask why you're at Reconciliation? Absolutely NOT." That's the truth.......Jesus would NEVER ask why I was at Reconciliation.
Can I just ask one thing, I saw that the girl at the beginning while making the sign of the cross uses her thumb, why? Is it used in some part of the world? Can someone tell me?
Is it possible to get a download of this for a CCD class? I want to share it with my class, but there is no wifi in the building where we hold class. Thank you
When my son made his second confession at the age of 10 the very kind and gentle priest kept him in the confessional for 30 minutes. He wanted to give him xtra attention since we were foreigners to the country at easter time and we needed an english speaking priest. Little did he know that my son is claustrophobic and by the time he came out was literally green around the gills. He almost threw up and passed out. I had to fan him out in the court yard with a flock of priests and nuns watching!
I'm not doing confession today, because I'm a grown adult that doesn't believe in magic and fairy tales. If I want forgiveness, I will ask it of the person who can forgive me. You people need realitqy.
The Catholic Church teaches forgiveness to God can be done through prayer to God as well as through a priest. Apostolic succession, in which Jesus passed the ability to forgive sins to his apostles, and in turn, to the priesthood that spawned from Him through them, is why Catholics choose to appropriately go to confession to confess their sins. It's not magic and fairy tales...it's faith. Perhaps you should consider these things when disparaging others. Your argument is weak...and so are you.
@@bobcannonproductions The only thing the Catholic Church teaches is how to touch children inappropriately, and how to hide their pedophile priests from justice. And you support them. I don't let the words of pedophiles and pedophile apologists bother me. You don't have moral structure to even lecture me on the merits of returning a wallet, much less the confessions of mans evils. So fuck off somewhere that your words matter. Like in your toilet.
@@ShaunKeefehello shaun, perhaps you had a bad experience and if so I have no idea what to say other than that I'm sorry if that's been the case. If I may ask you this, what do you mean by a "moral structure?". The fact that you're trolling on this video indicates a self righteous attitude on your own part that is very sad indeed. Not sure what else to say other than we will pray for you 🙏
I did my first confession at 29 (I’m a convert to Catholicism from Protestantism). While it is perfectly valid to do face to face, I’ve only done it face to face three times (once with my first confession in the priest’s office, once with a priest at a neighboring parish, and once in the hospital). I go to confession about once per month, and I’m 30 (just turned 30 on March 1st). You examine your conscience, you enter the confessional (in my case, kneeling behind a screen), you make the sign of the cross, saying “In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Bless me Father for I have sinned. It has been (x) since my last confession.” Then, I say “I’m a single 29/30 year old layperson. These are my sins. I...and these are my sins.” When it is my priest, he usually has me pray the Our Father and Hail Mary as my penance, although a substitute priest had me pray 5 Our Fathers and 5 Hail Marys and the neighboring priest had me pray the Our Father, Hail Mary and Gloria Patri. Then I say the act of contrition, which is prewritten in my case because I read the one on the screen. Then, the priest says the prayer of absolution, I say Amen, and then the priest says, “Go in Peace. Your sins are forgiven.” Then, I say Amen. The sins I usually struggle with are online pornography, masturbation, and saying four and five letter words to people who make me mad. Pray for me.
I have a question. Why do you need a priest to forgive you of your sins? Can’t you just ask God himself go do it? Someone please tell me because I am very curious.
The Catholic Church teaches us that, as stated in the Bible, Jesus gave his disciples the power to absolve sins through confession. Known as Apostolic succession, it passes through the Apostles, to the Bishops and Priests even to this day and throughout time. This is not to say God will not give forgiveness to a person who seeks it through personal prayer. In fact, the Catechism of the Catholic Church states that this is so. God and His power to give mercy are never in question. But the blessing you receive through confession to a Priest is quite profound and is a true gift from Jesus Himself. The sacrament of confession is awesome! It's funny - I am a video producer, and I shot this video many years ago, and I've done a lot of videos and put them on my UA-cam channel since that time. This video has more views than anything else I've ever posted.
My first confession was awkward, because I was doing this at a late age. And the priest didn't want to hear my confession. But he felt like he had to because he felt obligated to do so. My Mom guilt tripped him into hearing me and that made things even worse. To this day I still get nervous and an unsettling feeling inside of me every time I go to confession. I've had many bad experiences with past confession's. Twice the priest didn't want to hear my confession and once the priest didn't forgive me. But if I'm going to continue to be a member of the church. I have to make use of this dreadful sacrament.
My daughter will do her first confession in May 6, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Pflugerville, Texas.
