Anglican, new to faith at 54. Confirmation in 4 days and first Holy Communion. Excited, awed and humbled. Thank you for your guidance, very helpful. God bless you and your congregation.
receive on the tounge and kneeling neverr on the handddd and only from the priest if i have to change lines in holy communion to receive from the priest i do it this is god who comes from heaven who you are receiving
Recieve it in a state of grace, confession first is very important, before receiving it the hearts must no envy, no hatred, no grudges no resentment, must be really sorry for the sins commit, God will provide and help even our sins dark as night, red as blood, good and great God will make it white as snow if we really repent with sincere heart...
Thank you so much for this teaching. I was born and raised a Catholic but in my teenage years, I diverted to Pentecostal. Now in my late thirties and returning to Catholicism so this is very helpful in helping me getting re-acquainted with the faith.
I recomend also receiving on your knees. My family and I really felt it impressed upon us in Prayer to receive this way and it has been a great blessing to us.
@@anamedallo9317 it means to receive on the tongue while you are kneeling. For it is truly God himself, body, blood, soul, and divinity under the appearance of bread and wine.
@@anamedallo9317 I wouldn’t follow that advice. That’s the literal definition of paying homage and whether you intentionally or unintentionally realize it - you are actually paying homage to the priest in front of you. This is not talked about anywhere in the Bible. Please watch out for your own soul.. as times get closer to the end, deception will become stronger that even the elite may be deceived.
thank you for this video. i grew up catholic as a child and i did do my first holy communion and received the eucharist while i was young. however i was lost from god for the past 10 years and am just not going back to church for the first time tomorrow. I am very excited!

Catholics churches in Indonesia are always full in every weekend mass. If you're late, you have to sit outside the room with extended chair. I'm not lying about this.
That is awesome! My hometown in Southern California was like that. I moved out of state and the church I go to now only has about 20 people on Sundays. Sometimes for Holy days of obligations they can have a few more but we are really few.
I am grateful to have found this lesson…. I have returned to the flock after a 31-year absence, and was hoping to find a video clip showing the current protocol in receiving Holy Communion.✝️ This lesson was perfect! 🕊️🙏🏼
Even though I'm old, I over scrutinize how perfectly I should be when receiving the Eucharist...causing me to be sloppy because I'm too nervous. This is a good video because I can relax a little Jesus makes up for my imperfection

This is a much better way of communicating at the how-tos. I have really bad experiences at receiving being scolded by ministers who were in charge of passing the communion, she even raised her voice in front of everyone "Are you even Catholic?! THEN SAY AMEN HELLO?" because I did not reply "Amen" when she announced "The Body of Christ." I genuinely had no bad intentions, I listened to the readings and sermon. Thing is I have not received since I was a child, I have asked them prior whether are there are prerequisites/know-hows/ refreshers because I don't want to be humiliated like that if I received wrongly. They even made a point to approach me again after while the mass was still going in in front of everyone, harshly scolding to properly must swallow in front of the minister, not to take the communion away. OK, great, with this many rules, and with that kind of expectations I expect a better way to communicate it. But what's happened happened and that's on them. Not very Christly in my opinion. What a turn off, the very people who preach to be forgiving are not the very forgiving people. I approached them after for their behavior because I was truly offended and felt humiliated, and they said this is because a lot of people are abusing the body of Jesus. Well I did not have that intention at the very least, and I wouldn't know why someone that would abuse the body of Jesus would come to church in the first place. They just looked at me and didn't even occur to them that they were rude, human to human.
i also had a bad experience 😢💙💙💙 you give me strength to try again! you right i haven’t received since i was a child but ik i was baptized when i was a baby. 💙💙💙 sending you so much love and strength
That’s weird. She thinks, as a lay person, she has the right of commanding people how to receive. In the 2000 year history of the Church, saying “amen” is only a practice that has been done in the past 60 years
This comment echo soo much to me, as I too receive the same treatment for a long time without knowing and always wondered why? Glad I’m not the only one and thank you
I am a non-believer who is researching a story in which a character takes communion in a brief scene. This video was very informative and combined solemnity with good humor. It helped me better understand what's going on in the character's head at this time.
Mass in Latin, women wearing mantillas, at the communion rail, kneeling hands under the altar cloth, communion on the tongue. Priest, faces the tabernacle as has been since the earliest days of the Church. Anything less, is modern innovation just like JPII inventing new mysteries of the Rosary. Man cannot improve on what Heaven has given us.
Ummm... No. Ever heard of Cyril of Jerusalem and his catechesis On the Mysteries? No. V.21: "In approaching therefore, come not with your wrists extended, or your fingers spread; *but make your left hand a throne for the right, as for that which is to receive a King. And having hollowed your palm, receive the Body of Christ, saying over it, Amen. So then after having carefully hallowed your eyes by the touch of the Holy Body, partake of it; giving heed lest you lose any portion thereof* ; for whatever you lose, is evidently a loss to you as it were from one of your own members. For tell me, if any one gave you grains of gold, would you not hold them with all carefulness, being on your guard against losing any of them, and suffering loss? Will you not then much more carefully keep watch, that not a crumb fall from you of what is more precious than gold and precious stones?" (www.newadvent.org/fathers/310123.htm) Soooo... Innovation you said? Actually, communion rail, communion on the tongue and only in the species of bread is a medieval innovation, caused by a fear of unworthy reception of the Eucharist.
My cousin invited me to do church when i was 8 - 9 years old while she was 11 - 13 years old I'm now 13 years old and i kinda forgot some of these instructions so i wanted to watch this cuz i wanna support my cousin since she is now a quor on the church i miss doing church and gladly my grandma agreed, I'm now trying to invite my friends to church cuz it's been a while since we go there and because of the quarantine we got separated

I made my first communion in more than 50 years this morning. This was a good refresher, especially with the changes that have been made in that time. Last time I made a confession, it was received only on the tongue, not in the hands. And we were not allowed to chew the wafer.
I am sure it sound daunting but to be truly active means Mass on Sunday 52 weeks a year plus confession at least once a year. I was the last class of the Baltimore Catechism which was more like 55yrs and many my parents and my generation left sadly. Welcome back!
This was very helpful...and fun. We showed this to my class of 2nd grade students preparing for their First Holy Eucharist. Thanks Fr. Dave. It was great seeing your smiling face pop up. I missed it since our days back at HBO Downtown. All my best, JoAnne (Short Attention Span Theater) ;)
receiving the Eucharist on the hand, standing up, is the lowest possible reverence allotted by the church, the lowest of the low, the very least possible regard, the very bare minimum. We should treat the Eucharist as something worth kneeling down
I was utterly mortified when the Eucharist fell. I went to pick it up immediately and one of the ushers got it before I did. I didn’t know what to do. I went back to the pew and profusely prayed for forgiveness. I was so distraught that Sunday that I had an attitude but at myself. I couldn’t stop thinking of the look the usher gave me. I even started thinking of going to another church. What should I have done afterwards?
Thank you very much for the info. This is very helpful. I was nervous this morning and haven't been to a mass in a long time. I think I might have looked stupid at first because I stood there looking at him trying to remember what to say before I said amen. (When receiving the body of Christ)
• St. Basil the Great, Doctor of the Church (330-379): “The right to receive Holy Communion in the hand is permitted only in times of persecution.” St. Basil the Great considered Communion in the hand so irregular that he did not hesitate to consider it a grave fault. • The Council of Saragossa (380): Excommunicated anyone who dared continue receiving Holy Communion by hand. This was confirmed by the Synod of Toledo. • The Synod of Rouen (650): Condemned Communion in the hand to halt widespread abuses that occurred from this practice, and as a safeguard against sacrilege. • 6th Ecumenical Council, at Constantinople (680-681): Forbade the faithful to take the Sacred Host in their hand, threatening transgressors with excommunication. • St. Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274): “Out of reverence towards this Sacrament [the Holy Eucharist], nothing touches it, but what is consecrated; hence the corporal and the chalice are consecrated, and likewise the priest’s hands, for touching this Sacrament.” (Summa Theologica, Part III, Q. 82, Art. 3, Rep. Obj. 8.) • Pope Paul VI (1963-1978): “This method [on the tongue] must be retained.” (Memoriale Domini) • Pope John Paul II: “To touch the sacred species and to distribute them with their own hands is a privilege of the ordained.” (Dominicae Cenae, 11) • Mother Teresa: "Wherever I go in the whole world, the thing that makes me the saddest is watching people receive Communion in the hand." • Cardinal Robert Sarah, Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship 2018: “Widespread Communion in the hand is part of Satan’s attack on the Eucharist.” Further, “The most insidious diabolical attack consists in trying to extinguish faith in the Eucharist, by sowing errors and fostering an unsuitable way of receiving it.”
You give me a Doctor of the Church? I raise you Saint Cyril of Jerusalem, Church FATHER: On the Mysteries V.21: "In approaching therefore, come not with your wrists extended, or your fingers spread; but make your left hand a throne for the right, as for that which is to receive a King. And having hollowed your palm, receive the Body of Christ, saying over it, Amen. Florian ik this is a super old comment but many consider that quote apocryphal because it commands the recipient to touch the host to different parts of the body and the blood to different parts. Read the full quote. Also given every other resource in the op conflicting It seems likely apocryphal
@@florian8599 Everyone runs to this alleged Saint Cyril of Jerusalem quote. The authenticity of these writings is still in dispute and as John pointed out if you read further it is super odd. I posted a laundry list of credible quotes stretching back to early Church. Do you have anything besides St. Cyril's disputed writings?
The most important is how we receive the holy sacrament in state of grace that should we focus as a Catholic. The problem in the church today people line up during communion not in a state of grace and during confession few only people line up for reconciliation to God. This should be our priority. If we really love God and honor him before we want to receive him in the holy Eucharist clean our soul first through confession so that Jesus Christ will live in us. It’s like welcoming an important visitor in our house, we clean first our house and make it sure it organized before we let the important visitor enter in our house. If our house is full of trash and smelly the visitor will not stay long in our house thats like our soul if our soul is full of sins God will not stay with us longer instead the devil will love to stay with us that’s why God give us the gift of confession to reconcile to God.
Very nice, I had to be prompted this morning when I was due to go and get the gifts with my fellow parishioner at mass and I realise now I should get ready to do this as soon as the priest has gone to the front of the altar--- after the Prayer of the Faithful. I have not been asked to do this before at a morning mass so this was my excuse, but it was lovely to take part, and help to bring the host to become consecrated.

actually kneeling is also an option in both forms of the Mass. and in the EF you don't answer amen the Priest says the body of the Lord preserve you on to eternal life (in latin of course) and in the EF the hands are not an option. the EF is part of the Latin rite and should also be included.

This is such a cool video, gives me pointers even as an adult. I wish I had some instruction like this during church school when I was younger. The priest seems so nice too.
bennymanieri He is very nice. But nothing he says comes from the Bible but rather catholic tradition. If you like tradition that's fine, but if you revere the Bible as the word of God then it's a big problem. God bless you.
Robert Dambeck yes, but my priest recommend that when you go take a seat after you receive the body of Jesus, you do the sign of the cross he said the reason why we dont do the sign of the cross right away is because we might cause traffic.
Thanks Father for teaching this many doesn’t know because of poor catechism learning. We also pray for the modesty in the church. It is God’s place and we are the body of Christ and temple of Holy Spirit is very important wearing appropriate dress code and reverence inside the church.
The Church law about distributing the communion states: "92. Although each of the faithful always has the right to receive Holy Communion on the TONGUE, at his choice, if any communicant should wish to receive the Sacrament in the hand, in areas where the Bishops’ Conference with the recognitio of the Apostolic See has given permission, the sacred host is to be administered to him or her. However, special care should be taken to ensure that the host is consumed by the communicant in the presence of the minister, so that no one goes away carrying the Eucharistic species in his hand. If there is a risk of profanation, then Holy Communion should not be given in the hand to the faithful". It's a little different from "communion can be delivered on the tongue or on the hand". Communion in the hand is an INDULT: something that though it's against the Church law, it's allowed under certains circumstances.
Against communion on hand,Receive Holy Communion reverently on your tongue and, if possible, kneeling. Never accept Holy Communion in your hand. No priest in the world has the right to deny communion on the tongue. Avoid receiving Holy Communion from "extraordinary ministers" except, possibly, in extraordinary times - which seldom occur. The example you set will encourage more and more people to reject this unfortunate Indult.
I too have recently gone back to receiving the Sacred Host on my tongue. Bit of confusion for me in the beginning. Friends ask why I have changed from hand to tongue and I explain. Hopefully more people will come to understand the significance of receiving the Sacred Host on the tongue.
And priests have never practiced bad hygiene before giving Communion? Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist as duly delegated by the Church. And, their hands are clean, unless they don't practice good hygiene.

Father..our hands are never clean enough...your hands are consecrated ours are not...you wash and clean your hands after handling our Lord...we wipe even the tiniest of morsels on our clothes, or faces, clasping others hands, or coughing or sneezing in them...
OMG I was so embarrassed after watching the video because Christmas Mess I went on the line to Archbishop of seattle Peter, and he said, "The Body of christ" and I said "THanks" I am not allow to receive the Eucharist yet so He placed his hand on my ford. it was my first time to even walk on the line!
During this pandemic, do they still drink a cup of wine? I noticed the cup minister wiped with a cloth after the lady returned the cup and hand to the next person.
If you persecute (slander) the Church, you persecute (slander) Jesus. When St. Paul was persecuting Christians (all Catholics, because there were no other Christians at the time, or for another 1500 years), Jesus asked him why he was persecuting Him (Jesus), not the Church. Why? Because Jesus IS the Church. So go ahead... slander all you want. You will answer for it when you meet your Maker. And by the way, if you use the Bible to try to dispute Catholic teachings, remember, you're using a CATHOLIC Book to do it! EVERY New Testament author was Catholic and the entire canon was decided by the Catholic Church. If it wasn't for the Church, we wouldn't even have a Bible, let alone know anything about Jesus or anything He taught.
I have recently accepted God into my life but haven’t yet put a label to Christian or Catholic. I’ve attended mass only a couple of times, by myself, but grew up not religious and get very confused. If anyone is able to explain some simple traditions in church: Are there specific times we cross ourselves? When do we know to stand or kneel, to fit in with everyone else? Is bowing or kneeling a must whenever we enter? When the Pastor is reading verses, how do we know when to recite, and we need to hold our palms to the sky? If I have tattoos, do I need to have them all covered? Sorry if these seem very miniscule or specific. I’m sure I have more questions, and I know being with a religion and God is more than just some common traditions in church, but I do want to fit in and not disrespect anyone. As I said, I never grew up religious, I am 22 years old and have started going to mass alone so unfortunately I get very confused and carried away with the little things. Hopefully these start to make sense soon and mass will become regular for me but any answers are appreciated, thank you.
How very Americanized. The ORDINARY form of communion reception is on the tongue while kneeling. In the hand and standing were granted as an INDULT to the United States bishops. We should be teaching the ORDINARY form, not primarily the INDULT.
I think it is wise to follow in the Holy Father's example, especially considering some of the liturgical abuses that rock the Church in this day and age. I'm not saying that it is required or mandatory to do so, but I think that it is good to do as much as possible to show reverence for our Lord in the Eucharist. One way of doing so is to receive communion on the tongue while kneeling. I hope you at least consider.
WOW! I LOVE MY CATHOLIC FAITH!!!! Catholic Church, establish all the calendar festivities like Christmas, Lent, Easter, etc, etc. so, how come EVERYBODY that critizes the HOLY CATHOLIC CHURCH celebrates Catholic Church Liturgy calendar ?!?!?!?!
Lezith456 A sincere question for you. Can you find the words "catholic", "christmas", "lent" or even "Easter" in the Bible? I know Jesus was born, but it doesn't say the time of year except the shepherd were out in the field (not that likely in December in Israel). Also, Jesus did die on Passover, buried on the feast of unleavened bread and rose again on first fruits, but can't find any mention of easter. Lent - can't find that at all - nor catholic. Let me know if you can help me. Do you believe the Bible is the word of God or not?
Lezith456 The reason we believe in Father, son and Holy Spirit is because they are all in the Bible and all revealed as God. Catholic, Christmas, lent, and Easter are not Biblical terms nor concepts.
I usually carry my baby with me in the Communion line. This was never a problem because I prefer to receive on the tongue. Now in our diocese we must receive in the hand during the COVID-19 pandemic, so what do I do with the baby? I have too much "stuff" in my hands!
@@jazzmineb13 as a non-Catholic who finds all the ritualism and robotics of every Catholic service unnecessarily superfluous, the whole video was funny. 🤣
@@urb089 For me it's true as a non-Catholic that we should only give space to Jesus Christ no one else or no other things else. It's a sign of disrespect if you hold anything in your hand besides the holy rosary.
Very interesting ... with reference to holding hands and the host falls through ... I was once a special minister and the priest dropped a host ... we both saw it fall but neither of us could see it on the floor ... when we finished mass we hunted high and low for the host and finally found that it dropped and landed straight in the cuff of his pants. We all panicked that a consecrated host could have fallen in to the wrong hands. I have also seen people receive the host in their hands and feign consuming it only to walk away with it in their hands ... I made then either consume the host or return it to me.
Lezith456 By that logic Islam which I criticise would also be right. The priest didn't quote the Bible much did he? any reason? maybe it's not relevant, only being the word of God, not as reliable maybe as the catechism or the Roman Missal or the writing of St Cyril of the 4th century.
You're in the first beast of revelation. All good cause apparently I'm in the second. Kenny Copeland declaring the reformation over and imparting the "fire of God" into the papacy was a bit of a giveaway. Dark days are ahead for humanity
I am baptized, a Christian. I now attend Catholic Mass because I believe we all should return to original Christianity and stop these petty squabbles. Why can I not receive my savior in Communion just because I am not "on the books"? It's senseless and a great example of what has caused so much division in our faith.
+MeliorIlle //so you are also a deserter of Jesus in the eucharist..it happened long ago until now with you,,.From that time many of his disciples went back and walk no more with HIM..John 6:66//or the 666 people...yes it will cause a division as predicted by Jesus..whoever is not with me is against me,and whoever does not gather wlth me SCATTERS. .LUKE 11:23 and thats the multiplication of the protestant sect.
+MeliorIlle I used to be a Protestant, and now I am a Catholic, but there was a time when I was a Protestant attending Catholic Mass like you. I also didn't understand why I wasn't allowed to receive the Eucharist. I thought that I understood what the Eucharist was, but really I didn't, and there was a priest to allowed me to receive even though I was a Protestant, but I wish that he hadn't done that.
MeliorIlle Well, I believe that if you knew what the Catholic Church teaches about the Eucharist, you would not begrudge them their measures to protect it. I would highly recommend Scott Hahn's "The Lamb's Supper", and Brant Pitre's "The Jewish Roots of the Eucharist". The Eucharist IS Jesus; He is incarnate in the Bread and the Wine just as truly as He was incarnate as a Man; it is the Wedding Feast of the Lamb; hallelujah! Happy Easter

According to Maria the holy souls have revealed to her the following: -That priests and nuns should always wear their habits/clerics, in as much as possible. -That Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers should be used very rarely, that is, only when it is absolutely necessary; that priests and deacons should make every effort to distribute Communion to the faithful, even though it takes longer to do so. - That receiving Holy Communion in the hand should be avoided as much as possible. -That holding hands during the Lords prayer and that the sign of peace after the Eucharistic prayer should be avoided in as much as it is possible, since both of these are a distraction from Jesus who is present upon the altar and that we should be concentrating upon Jesus alone during this important time of the Mass. -That dogs are the most hated animals by the devil and the demons because they are the closest and most helpful animal to mankind. -That outside of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph is one of the greatest Saints who advocates for the souls in Purgatory. The Angels, especially St Michael the archangel, and also the poor souls own guardian angel are also very powerful in helping to obtain mercy and pleading their cause before God. Also very important is any Saint that the person might have had a devotion to during one’s lifetime. Maria also pointed out that the Patron Saint of the poor souls in purgatory is St Nicholas of Tolentino -The holy souls have also revealed to Maria that it is on Christmas day that the most souls are released from purgatory and then also Good Friday, Ascension day, All Souls day and the feast of the Assumption. CORRECTION THE CHURCH DOES NOT GIVE TWO OPTIONS LITTLE LESS THE LORD (Rom 14: 11; Lk 4: 8; Phil 2:10), WITH ALL DUE RESPECT READ THE BIBLE AND THE DIRECTIVES OF OUR HOLY CATHOLIC CHURCH: ONE IS THE NORM OF THE CHURCH which is kneeling down and on the tongue. THE OPTION WHICH WAS SUGGESTED AND UNFORTUNATELY WIDESPREAD BY THE SYNOD OF AMERICAN BISHOPS is standing up and in the hand. THE NORM OR RULE WILL ALWAYS REMAIN THE RULE WHICH IS THE ONE PASSED ON THROUGHOUT CENTURIES. BISHOP ARIUS MADE THIS RECEIVING OF THE LORD IN THE HAND VERY WIDESPREAD AS WELL MANY CENTURIES AGO. WHICH CAUSED THE LOSS OF FAITH IN MANY PEOPLE AS IT IS HAPPENING ONCE AGAIN TODAY. THAT WAS CERTAINLY NOT THE ONLY OCCURRENCE, BUT IT WAS ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR RECORDED IN HISTORY. SO PLEASE CHECK THE HOLY SEE'S DIRECTIVES BEFORE MISINFORMING CATHOLICS. WE ARE EITHER WITH JESUS OR AGAINST JESUS. Let the faithful follow the true Doctrine of the Magisterium so they remain faithful as so many have fallen into the fallacies of the devil nowadays, stop the impious acts against the Lord as the payment for such acts is eternal damnation, word of the Lord himself. We need to come out of our ignorance (Os 4: 6) and stand up for the truth even if it costs our own demise due to persecution inside our Holy Catholic and Apostolic church. God bless and may all impiety and faithless acts end soon.
Interesting. I learned an hour ago that in the 1550s the Anglian Church under the King in England also shifted the idea of receiving the Eucharist into the hand, a Protestant act! The Pope of then and others wrote an Cyclical condemning that act? Something seems wrong with the messages today about this point or are the Popes' Past warnings not to change the Mass and Reception of the Eucharist now ignored? Reception comes from the heart, a love for our Lord and God. This Priest does not sound correct in my opinion and the preparation for reception even in that moment of our act to recieve.
Rodney Burton Not true. the New Catholic Church, Post Vatican II says it's OK. Why? Have you done what Catholic's are supposed to do? Or does the New Church tell you to swing it like the Protestants do? I am not telling you what to do. But if you want the truth and the Proofs you may want to start doing your homework. There was a Lost of the Traditional Priest and Nuns, about 60,000 in the 1950s and 1960s. Why? How did they replace them? What has happened to the 7 Sacraments in the New Catholic Church (Post Vatican II). For example, Confession is no longer private? Who wrote the Catechism for the New Catholic Church (Vatican II). Why is there a movement among the New Catholic Church Bishops to do away with the Traditional Latin Mass? Even to those Priest holding to it are be put on sabbaticals, retired, or excommunicated.Indeed, for a Catholic you maybe subscribing to Protestantism and not realize it. Do just a little homework and I guarantee you that you will be shocked!
krakusdomm The Holy Spirit has not abandoned the Church. The Mass is the Blessed partaking of Christ the Lamb and His sacrifice with His children, it is literally Heaven on Earth no matter what language it is spoken in.
Rodney Burton Interesting. Who is the Church? Was it not revealed to us that one day the Church would be persecuted? The Holy Spirit is truly in those who believe! Beyond the excuses of human understanding, comprehension, rationalizations, justifications, etc. Indeed, that sense of supernatural knowing coming to us through the Holy Sacraments of the Holy Traditional Catholic Church. The Holy Spirit makes this known to his and his alone! I am curious who do you say our Blessed Mother is and why?
The key to your concern is look up Jesuit imposter Pope Paul VI. He and others physically incapacitated the real Pope and Pushed through Vatican II which was a long series of legal loopholes to try to weaken and Protestantize the Catholic Church to make it fit in with the NWO. Everyone associates Jesuits with Catholics but Ignatious Loyola was a crypto-jew. I believe it was a way for the Jews to go around doing evil in the world and allowing the blame to fall on the Catholics. They have Satanic Cabals at the top levels of everything at this point. So they can conduct their Satanic Covert Cold War from all sides at once and everyone will be confused about who is to blame. I suspect that is the meaning behind their chess board black and white floors in their freemasonic temples. Also notice Paul's signature he does it so it looks like 666 when it's upside down. Martin Luther was also a cryptojew as well as Oliver Cromwell and King Henry the VIII. I have nothing against Mosaic or Messianic Jews neither do the Muslims it is the Zionists that everyone is after including the Jews. Go on youtube and pull up video after video of Jews in Jerusalem protesting Zionists or Zionism. Luke 19:27 But these enemies of mine who would not let me reign over them bring them here and kill them in front of me.
Making a bow as an act of reverence before receiving Holy Communion is only attached to the US Bishops' imposed norm of receiving while standing, so in that case it would be incorrect to genuflect before receiving. But in the case of those who choose to receive the Blessed Sacrament by the venerable practice of kneeling (as is the right of anyone receiving in the Latin Church), one theoretically can genuflect before receiving or make no prior sign of reverence at all, since kneeling in and of itself IS the reverence. This position is confirmed by various liturgical experts, including from EWTN.
Communion with the acknowledgement that we are sinners and stopping to take time to examine ourselves is the right way: A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. 1 Corinthians 11:28. Also In observing Communion we are remembering Christ and all that He has done for us in his life, death and resurrection: And when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me." 1 Corinthians 11:24 :-)
Thank you Fr. For teaching us the right way to receive our savior Jesus Christ in Eucraist time. Here i would like to know, do we need only Christ Body, not blood. The Catholic Teen I don't think some priest should say take this all of you and drink from it if our church only gives the host

As someone returning to faith and looking into Catholicism this was very interesting.
I recomend also receiving on your knees. My family and I really felt it impressed upon us in Prayer to receive this way and it has been a great blessing to us.
What do you mean to receive in knees?
@@anamedallo9317 it means to receive on the tongue while you are kneeling. For it is truly God himself, body, blood, soul, and divinity under the appearance of bread and wine.

Please remember to go to confession first if you willfully missed going to Mass on a Sunday or Holy Day of Obligation. Welcome back 😊
Catholics churches in Indonesia are always full in every weekend mass. If you're late, you have to sit outside the room with extended chair. I'm not lying about this.
Ours is worse. You need to stand outside the church or seat in the church steps
We have a gym were they set up chairs and have the mass on a tv for the overflow of people who couldn't get a pew in church.

That is awesome! My hometown in Southern California was like that. I moved out of state and the church I go to now only has about 20 people on Sundays. Sometimes for Holy days of obligations they can have a few more but we are really few.
Actually Kneeling and receiving Holy Eucharist on the tongue is the best/proper Catholic way! and rest of them are modern options!
Isn't it sad that this would be the video to go viral but never the videos that actually talk about the actual proper way to receive communion.
poliklolik it's not the "proper" way. In Eastern Catholic Churches communion is received standing.

Well, that woman shouldn't be giving the Blessed Sacrament to the faithful in the first place. Only a Consecrated Priest can.
That’s weird. She thinks, as a lay person, she has the right of commanding people how to receive. In the 2000 year history of the Church, saying “amen” is only a practice that has been done in the past 60 years

Mass in Latin, women wearing mantillas, at the communion rail, kneeling hands under the altar cloth, communion on the tongue. Will you not then much more carefully keep watch, that not a crumb fall from you of what is more precious than gold and precious stones?" (www.newadvent.org/fathers/310123.htm)

Actually, communion rail, communion on the tongue and only in the species of bread is a medieval innovation, caused by a fear of unworthy reception of the Eucharist.

Great refresher video! Funny, but very important to know the appropriate way to receive. Thanks for making this video :)

Very helpful video, especially how to receive the Eucharist in hand. Clear explanation and reason for this method.
receiving the Eucharist on the hand, standing up, is the lowest possible reverence allotted by the church, the lowest of the low, the very least possible regard, the very bare minimum.
Christ forgives you

82, Art. 3, Rep. Obj. 8.)
• Pope Paul VI (1963-1978): “This method [on the tongue] must be retained.” (Memoriale Domini)
• Pope John Paul II: “To touch the sacred species and to distribute them with their own hands is a privilege of the ordained.” (Dominicae Cenae, 11)
• Mother Teresa: "Wherever I go in the whole world, the thing that makes me the saddest is watching people receive Communion in the hand."
• Cardinal Robert Sarah, Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship 2018: “Widespread Communion in the hand is part of Satan’s attack on the Eucharist.” Further, “The most insidious diabolical attack consists in trying to extinguish faith in the Eucharist, by sowing errors and fostering an unsuitable way of receiving it.”

I came here for a proper example of kneeling. Everything else was covered (minus the sign of the cross).
Very nice, I had to be prompted this morning when I was due to go and get the gifts with my fellow parishioner at mass and I realise now I should get ready to do this as soon as the priest has gone to the front of the altar--- after the Prayer of the Faithful. I have not been asked to do this before at a morning mass so this was my excuse, but it was lovely to take part, and help to bring the host to become consecrated.

actually kneeling is also an option in both forms of the Mass. and in the EF you don't answer amen
the Priest says the body of the Lord preserve you on to eternal life (in latin of course) and in the EF the hands are not an option. the EF is part of the Latin rite and should also be included.

The Church law about distributing the communion states:

Thats not the point. "Extraordinary Ministers" do not have anointed hands to handle the Host....period. They are not needed.

If it wasn't for the Church, we wouldn't even have a Bible, let alone know anything about Jesus or anything He taught.
this is exactly what i was looking for Amen
Communion in the tongue is the correct way.
I have recently accepted God into my life but haven’t yet put a label to Christian or Catholic. I’ve attended mass only a couple of times, by myself, but grew up not religious and get very confused. If anyone is able to explain some simple traditions in church:
Are there specific times we cross ourselves?
Geraldine Young How about look in the Bible, its not American, but I heard somewhere that it was the word of God. Maybe Jesus in Mathew 4:4.

I don't see ether the word TRINITY, and Catholics, and most protestants believe in FATHER, SON, AND HOLY SPIRIT!
Lezith456 The reason we believe in Father, son and Holy Spirit is because they are all in the Bible and all revealed as God. Catholic, Christmas, lent, and Easter are not Biblical terms nor concepts.
Michael NewZealand shut up Protestant
Mark Seymour Not even an argument. Just simply silencing a heretic

I usually carry my baby with me in the Communion line. This was never a problem because I prefer to receive on the tongue. Now in our diocese we must receive in the hand during the COVID-19 pandemic, so what do I do with the baby? I have too much "stuff" in my hands!
"If you have other stuff in your hands, how much room is there for Jesus?" LOL
That’s not funny
Even Christ was critizised, and also Holy Catholic Church is.
DEFINITELY, I am in the right Church!!!!!!
Thank you so much God for this Holy Gift of Love. I love you God. Amen
Jinxy Puff I'm a deserter? How so?
+MeliorIlle I used to be a Protestant, and now I am a Catholic, but there was a time when I was a Protestant attending Catholic Mass like you. I also didn't understand why I wasn't allowed to receive the Eucharist. I thought that I understood what the Eucharist was, but really I didn't, and there was a priest to allowed me to receive even though I was a Protestant, but I wish that he hadn't done that.
Rodney Burton Enlighten me.
Loved this so much! Thank you for this refresher! God Bless you!
If the Catholics are praise Jesus Christ and praying to his mother and asking for some guy in a box called father for forgiveness.
Aka Roman Catholics the work of the Antichrist
According to Maria the holy souls have revealed to her the following:
-That priests and nuns should always wear their habits/clerics, in as much as possible.
Maria also pointed out that the Patron Saint of the poor souls in purgatory is St Nicholas of Tolentino
-The holy souls have also revealed to Maria that it is on Christmas day that the most souls are released from purgatory and then also Good Friday, Ascension day, All Souls day and the feast of the Assumption.

God bless you dear priest and all of you dear brothers and sisters in Christ 🎉 Thank you for teaching me 🎉on How To Receive The Most Holy Sacrament of Eucharist 🎉❤ Amen ❤Praise Be To Our God, Forever More❤
🤔Can the flu be received on that shared cup?🤔😩😔
+ stopngo - That’s good to know 😁
LovingAtlanta yes, wherever people’s mouths go there is the chance of pathogens such as viruses and bacteria to get on the cup. simply wiping it with a cloth does not sanitize it so it’s pointless. the flu, stomach flu, oral herpes virus and others can be transmitted by sharing the cup. it’s unrealistic to say jesus will just magically sanitize the cup, yknow? i wouldn’t recommend drinking from it.
The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.

Jesus got you covered 😉

Be more worried about the back wash. EWWW
Beautifully explained. Thank you Jesus.
Kneeling is the best reverence to receive it
😅
Interesting. I learned an hour ago that in the 1550s the Anglian Church under the King in England also shifted the idea of receiving the Eucharist into the hand, a Protestant act! The Pope of then and others wrote an Cyclical condemning that act? Something seems wrong with the messages today about this point or are the Popes' Past warnings not to change the Mass and Reception of the Eucharist now ignored? Reception comes from the heart, a love for our Lord and God. This Priest does not sound correct in my opinion and the preparation for reception even in that moment of our act to recieve.
The Vatican has left the decision of how it is received; hand, tongue, or either, up to each individual bishop.
You can honestly do whatever you want, if you take care that it’s not reasonably hurting anyone.
2:04 XD
Amen comes from the Aramaic word "ameen" which means like "Let it be so"
Making a bow as an act of reverence before receiving Holy Communion is only attached to the US Bishops' imposed norm of receiving while standing, so in that case it would be incorrect to genuflect before receiving.
This is a great video.
May I ask: When in an English Mass, the Priest handing the Holy Communion said, “Obore Christus”, do we acknowledge “Amen”?
Communion with the acknowledgement that we are sinners and stopping to take time to examine ourselves is the right way: A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. 1 Corinthians 11:28. Also In observing Communion we are remembering Christ and all that He has done for us in his life, death and resurrection:
And when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me." 1 Corinthians 11:24
:-)
I agree 🤔
Thank you Fr. For teaching us the right way to receive our savior Jesus Christ in Eucraist time.
Here i would like to know, do we need only Christ Body, not blood. When Jesus gave his Body and Blood to us, why we get only Body, why not Body and Blood.
Thanks God Bless you and your congregation. Anything hurts, i apologize for it.
What about kneeling to receive? And why no mention of genuflecting before reception?
You can. But even pre Vatican II we didn't genuflect due to the simple fact we all knelt. That is why the head vow was added post Vatican II.
Useful for rookie catechists.Thank you for sharing
