Loved the bit where you talked about having toys on hand for kids. That's so sweet. Just goes again to show cops quietly do good things no one knows about. You guys cracking up at the end was hilarious 😂
I couldn't agree more with the point about tac vests and the radio. If you take it off for any reason, it goes everywhere with you, bathroom, break room, everywhere.
Even something as simple as a very large bulk roll of stickers for kids is a great idea and it’s only like 10 bucks for a 10 foot roll of stickers and that’s something I plan to do as soon as I finish my FTO probation. Super cool man
A little hint from a past fire fighter, bolt cutters get rid of them if you have the Halligan bar…. The Halligan bar is a multipurpose tool that can do more damage than bolt cutters to a padlock or a chain-link fence.
Outer carriers do a good job of keeping wieght off of your hips. I think it also makes officers feel like they're super tacticool and they want to look like an operator even though they're not.
I have used tazer spray open/hard hands a ton the way I look at it is options are good just be ready to t transition I have had the tazer fail a lot but have had it work a lot just always be ready to do something else plus they make good emergency impact weapons another aspect with the tazer is it is a deterrent I have had few time where they see the tazer and they just give up every one has different experiences but loved the video tho good thoughts
On the chemical agents, 1:27:40, at my department we had a guy making ricin. You probably saw it in the news because he sent it to the president as well as some members of congress and a federal judge. We had to respond to it initially though so those chemical agents are out there.
As an animal control officer i use the tac vest for a few reason. one it gets the weight off my hips and lets me bend down more. the other reason my department makes me carry a shit ton of stuff taser, baton, oc spray, radio, flash light, gloves, dog leash, and body cam. The only thing they wont let me carry is a fire arm go figure.
I was surprised that not every one had flash light and knife. I am not fan of vest, and was shocked to see officers put radio and magazines in them un-secured. There is no way they could climb 6 ft wall or fence with them.
You guys should cover pursuit policies in one of your episodes. It seems as if it has become a pretty hot topic, at least on this side of the mountain from you guys.
Thanks for the recomendation, pursuits are a big topic. Speeds, clearing intersections, personal and department liability, and then the risk the fleeing vehicle poses to the public. We will put it on our list to talk about.
I second this, I feel like even from a year ago department policies have changed UHP isn’t allowed to Pursuit in the any city same with most police departments
That goes for anyone on the road. Secure shit in your car. You get in an accident and whatever isn’t secure is going to fly around. It hurts. Trust me. I learned that the hard way.
@@shotsfiredpodcast50 I'm not a cop yet, but if everything goes as planned, I should be a cop in Chicago. chicago Police department. I hope they let me run plate carriers as a beat cop
Cop in full gear, drop to the bottom of any water. Cant have a fair fight due to weight and bulk so deadly force is needed rather then hand to hand combt. However way to long of an intro... Turned off at 2:54
In 1968 my duty belt had a .38, twelve extra rounds, cuffs & a baton. We transitioned to the Glock in the ‘80s and had just gotten pepper spray before I retired in ‘97. Today’s cops carry so much gear with the tactical vest they remind me of a Marine going into combat. My belief is this, along w/the relaxing of grooming standards (beards), is sending the wrong message to the community.
There is nothing wrong with beards. It’s actually funny cuz when you start your sentence, you are kinda arguing that all that tactical gear is bad cuz it looks like a marine going into battle. Then you follow it up by saying you want every officer groomed like a marine going into battle. Makes zero sense at all.

It should at least!
These are great videos, appreciate you guys
Man you guys are lucky lol. At my department, we have to carry OC ,Taser, and Baton on a duty belt.
Carry it where it makes sense for you and practical.

Great video, just found this channel and learning a lot, Blessings to you all and your families my Brothers in Arms
Glad you found us.
Helpful video, I now know what’s necessary to have and what to think about when it comes to vests.
Glad you liked it. A more in depth gear review video coming soon.
Good video but it’s hard to base your setup on what someone else thinks is important. You have to set your gear to your needs.
Wow, you guys brought up a lot of stuff I've never thought off before, specifically ordinary objects that become projectiles in a crash.

As a prior breacher couldn’t agree more
I requested this video a long time ago, well done fellas. 🤙🏼
Thanks guys!!
Thanks for tuning in T O!

Are you a Tac vest fan, or traditional uniform fan? Let us know.
Tac vest, way easier on the lower back.

Aspiring reserve LEO here. I like tac vests and hope to land at an agency that permits them.
@@thirtynine392001 good luck!
A few departments near me say you need 2 less lethal options, any two of your choice, but two minimum.

You guys mentioned a lock picking tool, can you recommend a specific set for patrol application?
Hop on Amazon and there’s a ton to chose from. Look for a small set that can fit in your gear bag. Nothing big.
We had an officer who's X2 Taser got wet in the rain and then discharged itself whilst inside the holster in the office
I was surprised that not every one had flash light and knife. I am not fan of vest, and was shocked to see officers put radio and magazines in them un-secured. There is no way they could climb 6 ft wall or fence with them.
My agency has individual keyed cars so I request extra keys and give them to my buddy and zone partner so they can access my explorer
That’s a great idea, Ryan. Thanks for sharing so that everyone can gain tips from each other. Stay safe brotha.
That's the "out of the box" thinking we all need to share. Good work, and thanks for sharing that tip!!
you guys need to be specific about what exact model of boot you're talking about. Danner makes a ton of options
Danner Acadia’s. Little heavy, but solid boot that will last you 10-15 years.

I mean shit guys you’re in a carrier for 18 hours max. Just wear it if you’re gonna wear it. Some guys sleep in that shit for days or weeks.
I’ve been in the army for 6 years the great podcast but the grooming thing for a mask is a myth you can get a complete seal with a beard
