- I purchased this pipe upon a recommendation, so in this 2-part video i will show you the Pipe first & in part 2 I will smoke a very pleasant pipe tobacco called Half & Half by STG which I very much enjoy. I will describe the Half & Half as a blend that does not need much thought & contemplation on flavours & various nuances just a tasty smoke of good old Virginia & Burley blend that would deliver the natural nuances of the tobacco leaves plus some pleasant spicy & mild floral / sweetish notes.

One of our most popular shapes, our signature take on the bent Pot enhances the inherently muscular design with a broad, squat bowl and extra-sturdy proportions through the shank and transition, as well as an elegant quarter bend.
A minimalist and classic presentation, the Killarney has been a stalwart in our Classic range since we introduced it in 1949. The Killarney Red celebrates that tradition with a variety of classic shapes, accented with twin nickel bands and dressed in a deep red finish, calling to mind the ruby-stained pipes of the early 20th century.

STG Half & Half tobacco description.
Burley based pipe tobacco. Made in the USA. Pouch description: "Burley and Bright" Pipe Tobacco.
Notes: Originally from an American Tobacco 19th century formula. Originally, it was a local Virginia favourite for both cigarettes and pipe tobacco.
Half and Half is a timeless mix of loose cut Burley and Virginia tobaccos with flavourful notes of cardamom, coriander and maze. Enjoy this smooth, easy-going smoke again and again.

I would lay that whole can out in a tray for a bit before you jar it up. That will expose it to some fresh air all around and let get the excess moisture out. It will age better in your jar as well.

i finally had a chance to watch your video. first i am a fan of Peterson pipes i too believe they are made to perfection and yours looks great & suits you well. Enjoy it. Referring to the H&H a lot can be said about codger blends like this one & carter hall which i have & enjoy for many years. i will put it this way, if GL Pease or Cornell & Diehl made this the blend it would receive outstanding reviews & cost heck of a lot more.😁 So yeah i have no doubt that those who smoked this blend & the carter hall & Sir Walter Raleigh would agree with you that these codger blends smoked & enjoyed for generations for good reason. My dad used to smoke Half and Half pretty often; I remember that I liked to open the can just to sniff the aroma. Enjoy!

Nice video H&H was my go to blend in the mid 70’s 80’s and 90’s the blend changed cut and taste I still have a full can that I received in 2012 that I can’t smoke 😢
@Lovettsville piper. Thanks. Reading your comment I am surprised to hear that H&H 2012 upwards has change to such extent that you can’t smoke it. Well I am enjoying this current blend that is definitely post 2012 perhaps give it another go. Firstly it has 10 yr aging by now so surely an improvement will be detected. Secondly your palate might of changed as well so you might enjoy it the way I am. Mare suggestion😊

As usual i enjoyed watching your review on the Killarney i own the bent Rhodesian i think it is the 999 very similar to your Irish harp shape but with the same deep red finish that i too love. Peterson pipes are indeed top quality. As for the blend i did some searching unfortunately it is not available in England that is a shame i would have wanted to try it. Thanks Daniel. I just checked on your Rhodesian Killarney it actually looks very nice and you are right the shape does look like the Irish harp without the silver band. I am fairly certain you would enjoy this blend.
Not a fan of Half and Half. I have a Killarney Red, I enjoy that pipe quite a bit.
