This is why Civics and History is necessary. Not to mention Critical Thinking, where you take facts and draw conclusions. Like how free forced labor to build a country combined with injustices committed institutionally and by individuals, combined with political resources that we fought for as minorities, have actually paved the way for other minorities who have not fought for, died for and sacrificed for these contributions to be welcomed, funded and allowed to participate in a free society, then tell our people who have fought in every war, Revolutionary, Civil, WWI and WWII…etc to help maintain and defend this nation in spite of atrocities and injustices committed against us, what we do and do not deserve.

Also wanted to add that our people fought for our own inalienable rights and due to contrived labels like “POC’ others get to benefit from everything our people fought and died for and then hate us and block us from those benefits in the process. The 14th Amendment is specific to formerly enslaved Ancestors. I just feel laws fought for by our people Civil Rights included should only apply to us. Other groups are not part of our struggle so they don’t understand, nor appreciate how hard that fight was they should all fight for themselves. It’s not crying victimhood to recognize our people particularly American Descendants of Slaves have been treated very unfairly in this country. Even those of us who have managed to get a piece of the pie recognize that there is still a lot of sacrifice and hard work that others simply don’t have to do to get their’s. We need an attorney and a case needs to be started for us to sue at this point it’s the only way we’re going to survive in this country imho.

We’re not Natives to Africa and our ancestors whose identity was erased when they were forced into Chattel Slavery did not want to be called African they chose Colored. Our identifier officially changed in this country in 1969 at the height of The Black Power Movement. After the Civil Rights movement and the abolishment of Jim Crow Colored, Negro identifiers were left behind due to there affiliation with Segregation. In 88’ Jesse Jackson and crew introduced African American and since then we either identify as black American, or African American. As we are native to America only and our ancestors were American Chattel Slaves before their fight on the front lines of the Civil War for their own freedom that happened during the Emancipation Proclamation I prefer to identify as black American until we are able to identify as our truth. There are too many who are actually Natives to Africa now in this country for us to keep identifying as African Americans it’s causing confusion that’s not okay.

This is a day all of us black people are happy because we have been praying for reparation for our people. It looks like we don't have tangible friends for real. As a Haitian American now, I am so happy about news like that, and I have been praying for my African American sis/bro to have something tangible from this government and what they were promised after slavery was ended. Indeed, most other groups are not like us, as Kendrick's song said. Other none black people would not understand or refuse to understand the effect of slavery on our people, particularly the African diaspora, whether on American or Caribbean soil.
