Love the hair style! George Strait is known for the style called "Texas Swing", that's what the flow that you were enjoying so much was. It was popularized WAAAY back in the day by Bob Wills and then in the 80's George Strait brought it to new heights with songs like this.

I'd also like to point out that George was singing around bars around the San Marcos/Austin area - when the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo came in 82, Eddie Rabbitt was scheduled to appear, but got sick. They had 4 hours to find a fill-in and got George to go on stage. His career took off that night (I know because I was there!). Make Mine STRAIT!

The closest we ever came to having Elvis again is George. He sticks with C&W though --not other genres. He has been at the top of the heap for ages. His singing voice is a wonderful instrument.

My husband and I went to his concert in November 2020, he sounds just as amazing today! We went to Alan Jackson in August 2021, he still sounds good as well! 2 legends of my time!
When I married for the 2nd time, my husband told me that he could almost picture my ex singing this song. I was married to my first for 24 hard years but my late husband (my 2nd love) used to take me dancing and we would waltz to this song. I can't hear it now without bursting into tears as both my husbands are gone now! I'm still waiting for you to react to I Cross My Heart!!

I will never forget, my very first concert was a George Strait concert & he had Tracy Lawrence as his opening act. He puts on one AMAZING show let me tell you!!! His voice is just so velvety smooth like butter! I had such a celebrity crush on this man, what I'm I talking about, I still have the crush on him!!! He's the total package. In all seriousness though he is a very humble, wonderful, pleasant person. One of the best I've ever met. Oh man, this brings back some memories. I'm telling my age, I'm getting up there lol.

Ahhh, my first love, Mr. George Strait. To see him sing this live at the Astrodome/Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo back in the day. The way he'd look into the camera and do the speaking part, every woman in the place felt like he was singing right to them alone. King George. It just doesn't get any better. As for your R&B comment, years after this, there was a tribute to George where Jamie Foxx sang this (both Texas boys) and it was so, so good. Check it out.

When I saw him at the Houston Livestock Show, the women brought him single red roses in a constant steady stream. By the end of the concert, there were THOUSANDS of roses up there.

Hi again Britt, wish my wife was still alive, so many George strait songs we loved, he was her favorite. Some songs were deep for us, and so many are just great. When youngest daughters fiance broke up they eventually got back together, she knew this song and played it with him even at wedding couple years later, they are still married. Go George, some songs can just see. Wife and I had cross my heart, and carried away, so many more, armadillo... Was George strait songs, sang with randy Jackson on the cowboy rides away tour.. he was a heartthrob to women but married to same woman 48+yrs? Girl, he is still a heartthrob even in his sixties. He’s close to my Dad’s age. He’s been singing and giving concerts since the early 1980’s. He’s still making number 1 hits. He has the highest number of #1 hits in country music. I’m pretty sure it is 63 and counting. He is called King George for a reason and you cannot go wrong going down the rabbit hole of George Strait. There are hundreds of songs to choose from.

Ah George Strait the King of Country music, Dean Dillon has written most of Straits songs.
The thing that makes George Strait who he is; is the fact that he is a singing cowboy and true to that life, Strait own a huge ranch in Texas, he is a Championship level team roper in the Rodeo's, when he sings about the cowboy life it become real to listen to.
He is another that only needs a guitar and mic to blow people away.
Hands down in the top 5 in Country Music starts for me.
