The hidden, unsaid circumstance in this song is that Cheyenne Frontier Days is the single biggest rodeo and prize on the rodeo circuit. I think it is important to recognize that he had decided to skip the biggest rodeo on the circuit to go home before finding out she was leaving in order to really understand the full dynamics in play.
I took it as - him not really caring too much about the breakup and her meeting another man. He always loved the rodeo more than her and this time it was no different. When she tells him, "don't bother coming home and there's someone new" he says it's alright baby If I hurry I can still make Cheyenne Gotta go now baby
@@zacharyjefferson3988 It is somewhat the combination of both of these. FYI, George was a real rodeo cowboy before he became famous. A lot of rodeo cowboys were musicians. We would sign up for an event then get gigs in local bars so in case we didn't make the cut we at least had the money to get to the next rodeo, and that's how he got his start.

I’ve been a George Straight fan since I can remember. I never competed in rodeo. When this song came out I liked it. But I didn’t REALLY understand it until I spent 20+ years in the military. This song is about a man on his mission. Doing his grind. So many good girls left my ass because they were not my priority. My mission was my mission. But one finally realized what I was about. And I’m hangin in to her. Till death!

I had the pleasure of seeing King George live at ACL this year, and it was amazing!! This is what grew up on, and that was probably the only chance I'd get to see him live. This tells the story, of a cowboy on the rodeo circuit, and what it can do to relationships, he is headed to Cheyenne, wyoming, that happens in july, that time of year, is known as cowboy Christmas, because there are so many rodeo's around the country, and most cowboys/cowgirls hit the circuit hard and as many rodeo's as they can get to, it's a hard way to live, but it's also alot of fun! Also, these professional cowboys/cowgirls, they have to PAY! to even compete in these rodeo's, and if they don't place, or win the event, they DO NOT get paid, rodeo, is the only American sport, where the participants have to pay, to participate, I reccomend y'all check out a rodeo sometime, and see what these amazing athletes(animals included) can do!!....great reaction to king George y'all, keep up the good work!!..👍👍

In fact I remember the mention of Amarillo, I was actually rolling through Amarillo when that song came on and I was homeless contemplating my next move. King George has a way to relate through song. I just subscribed I love that you cover so much country. You have a fan if that's worth anything.
Furthermore my name translates to Jesus Cowboy... I've been known as cowboy most of my adult life lol
I have got to see y'alls review of the song that hooked me, Amarillo By Morning ❤
The Daddy Of Em All, the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo. "Call me the breeze"
Gotta roll with the punches. The Cowboy life.
Dude felt that !!!!
Momma was like that’s Messed up lol
Good review. He's a great guy
You guys need to check out ‘ Living for the Night ‘ George’s single put out a few years ago.
The Brits say, "Keep a stiff upper lip". Cowboys say, "Cowboy up".
Country and Western music! It's a Cowboy thing 🤠🇺🇸🐎☕
To put it in better context, rodeo cowboys are like rockstars on the road. They even have “groupies” (buckle bunnies).
I never combined the Garth Brooks song "Beaches of Cheyenne" with this one but they oddly mix well.
Too many George Strait songs to recommend!! He’s called King George for a reason 🤠
